I wonder how come you have 45 for Iran ? :mumble: Iran has qualified 43 so far.

yes you´re right

I see where I did a mistake. I counted also both your hammer throwers Ghalenoui and Moussavi, but it was my bad, because I made a mistake and didn´t noticed the q is small behind their names. http://road-to-rio.com/

my apologize. I´ll fix it imediately

:yes it happens, you are doing a great job.

based on this website we also qualified a sprinter in 200m but that guy tested positive for doping in a local competition and is banned now. I assume you didn't count him otherwise we could have 44.

Thanks, well it´s not an easy job at all, but can´t imagine any better job :d

No, for all athletes qualified before the totallympics database problems last february I just used the news from national NOC websites or wikipedia, so I didn´t counted the athletes not mentioned in those sites.

and so, after our restart I have just to add each week only the new qualified athletes :)

Taekwondo -57kg Women's

:BEL  Belgique +1

:WHT  Refugee Olympic Athlète -1 (Raheleh Asemani Naturalized Belgium)

Are you sure that she will compete for Belgium in Rio?

If its true, than it would be really disgusting, this never should have been allowed!

Basically Belgium had two athletes in the same weight category at the european qualification!

Belgian athlete qualified -> She goes to Rio

Refugee athlete qualified -> She gets naturalized and competes for Belgium in Rio

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

The Flanders sports authorities answered my e-mail a while ago saying they aren't sure about it. Some days ago WTF announced the quotas (it's somewhere in the taekwondo thread) and they still had her as regufee athlete.

This whole thing is being a huge discussion already for a couple of months now and most people, including me and I guess you, are hoping she will compete as refugee athlete. Because indeed, if she competes as Belgian, Belgium would have had 2 athletes in her weight class and that would just be wrong/illegal/unfair.

    • there were rumors about it for quite a while, but as I wrote, it was never confirmed so, it might well be just some haters throwing out some shit on her 🤷
    • Where did you get that?   I'm not sure I would have considered her to have dissapeared from out of nowhere, at least since after Tokyo... she did win medals at the next two World Championships. I think it's just recently, she's been struggling with injury which is why she's completely out of form...
    • Even though I'm not the biggest fan of her, always sucks to see a career ending through injury and not on your own terms
    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.
    • Mary Rand has died aged 86. The first British woman to win a Gold in track and field at the 1964 Tokyo Games (where she also took home a further two medals in the Women’s 4x100m relay and Pentathlon).
    • Athing Mu competed in the USA trials in 2024 and 2025 post the 2023 rule changes. She also won Gold in 2022 and Bronze in 2023.    Jelimo the jury is out. She doesn’t look male like the other two do.
    • People focus on trans people because it's easier to pinpoint the affected athletes. Meanwhile it's the athletes with (suspected) DSDs that will have tougher time to convince the authorities and the public opinion that they belong to women's sports.
    • badminton queen Carolina Marin announced that she can't take part into the home Europeans in the upcoming weeks because of her injured knee and calls it a career 😭
    • yes, there are (or there was, at least) don't forget that the women's 800m had world and olympic champions like Semenya, Jelimo and Nyonsaba...basically, it was 10 years of DSD winners only the same Athing Mu was suspected to be DSD (never confirmed, but somehow she totally disappeared after Tokyo) then, there were the 2 girls from Namibia (1 won a medal over 200m in Tokyo) in Italy we have the living scandal Valentina Petrillo (a paralympian!!!), who's actually a real man not to mention the weightlifter from who took part into the Tokyo Games so, it's a real problem all around the globe, not just a US crusade against a few woke idiots
