It won't be easy for either  or  to qualify now. Even if Sri Lanka win their two remaining first round group games a win for the Netherlands over Namibia would likely mean it comes down to run rates. The West Indies have lost what on paper was their easiest game and both Zimbabwe and Ireland are capable of putting them out now. It would be really something if two former winners went out at this stage.

And  comfortably beat  in the last of the first group of matches. So far the advantage seems to lie with the team batting first.

I don't think we need to worry about that in Australia. Coin toss alone won't decide the winner of the match.

They were the only ones who successfully chased a total but they were up against arguably the weakest team. In the other three games the team batting second came up well short.

And had a bloody hard time doing that, against the weakest opponent in the group.

Again a Dutch victory, after batting second. A small defeat against Sri Lanka in the third match should suffice.
