rafalgorka 1,519 Posted July 29, 2018 #62 Share Posted July 29, 2018 (edited) In women's athletics I think Lasitskene and Thiam are the biggest favourites for gold Edited July 29, 2018 by rafalgorka
EselTheDonkey 824 Posted July 29, 2018 #63 Share Posted July 29, 2018 (edited) Heptathlon is always dangerous, because there are several chances that something goes wrong. You could have three fouls in Long Jump or fall over the hurdles, for example. Of course Decathlon is even more unpredictable. I dont think you can just name "someone from Kenya" as favorite, you have to name a certain athlete and personally i wouldnt name relays or teams, but if i would, the american 4 x 400 relays would certainly be among the biggest favorites. thiago_simoes 1,423 Posted July 30, 2018 #68 Share Posted July 30, 2018 Simone Biles in women's artistic gymnastics. She will win everything but Uneven Bars (and she has shown such a big improvement on this apparatus that I will not be entirely surprised if she walks away with a gold medal on the UB as well). Kohei Uchimura has not fully recovered yet, but I think he will be ready for the 2020 Olympics because, well, it's in Japan. It's impossible to say if he will even be among the favorites for the gold medal -- he had a terrible day of competition at the World Cup this year and he was so close to being beaten in the last few years that I think it will be too late for him to try to win gold in 2020. But we will see.

Miller Uibo,Gao and Mclaughlin are pretty big favorites too. Obviously Schwanitz is a challenge but Gao can react lenghts no one else can at the moment. Mclaughlin is just so good i can't see her losing and Miller Uibo is on another level from the other 400 m women. Salwa Eid Nasser would be up there tho.
