I heard it was a serious injury? A ruptured achilles tendon?

Not true?

Yes, unfortunately. She wrote it on the instagram now :facepalm:They just did a magnetic resonance. But if I understood it well only one part of achilles tendonis damaged (her coach said that). Probably no more competition this year for her.

Welp, I'm finally home and I just want to say, this championship is freakin' crazy :hyper: 4th and 5th place for our women in the race walk. @Wanderer knows that this is not a huge surprise to me, as I predicted Brigita Virbalytė-Dimšienė for bronze, but I did not imagine that she would break the national record by more than one minute :woot: Lastly, Živilė Vaiciukevičiūtė was more than spectacular today. She broke her PB by more than three minutes, also walked faster than the national record from Neringa Aidietytė and set a U23 record. She is crazy talented, I did not expect anything better than 10 for her today. This is the best European Championships in Lithuanian history, 2 medals and 6 athletes finished in top 8, plus there's still Agnė in the final hoping to make some magic.

Probably? Sheesh.. if that's her take-off leg then she might struggle to recover come next season's WC tbh :wall:

Noo, she will be ok. She said she would have only treatments (without surgery)  and the coach just said it was just partial damage

Sounds fishy tbh. I have a feeling these non-surgery recovery plans always end bad... pain eventually returns and they have to go under the knife regardless.

    • North American rugby quotas ( and qualified automatically)    M: and W: and
    • I remember Caroline Golubitsky. She competed with Vezzali for a while but not for long. Rita Konig, whom Vezzali defeated in the final of the Olympic Games in 2000, was more famous, as well as Sabine Bau and Anja Mueller. From what I remember, the Germans competed fiercely with us at some point, but they almost always lost.
    • Shemyakina won a bronze medal in 2014 Worlds and was one of our leader but leave the squad due to pregnancy (she has 2 daughters if I'm not mistaking, so she chose family instead of sport). And speaking of foil we have back in the day Sergiy Golubitskyi, who was Olympic silver medalist and won some medals in other competitions and coached his wife Caroline Golubitskyi - one of the German foil specialists. Even in women's foil we had medal in Women's foil at the European championship - it was Olha Leleiko, our current national coach. So no, we are pretty good fencing country, and depending on generations of our athletes some events are more "profitable" for us and some don't.
    • Shemyakina that was a very strange story. She unexpectedly won the games but before and after she literally achieved nothing. After that success in 2012 she also completely disappeared. It's only in epee that such strange situations. That's why I've always preferred foil and sabre, because the top was more stable there, although that's changing now. The competition has grown a lot all over the world.
