Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024 Team Sizes

Recommended Posts

Although :POL delegation will be officialy announced in Monday, I can say that we will have more athletes in Tokyo, something like 213-216, it depends how reserved athletes in athletics relays will be counted. Unfortunately we will not have additional quotas in mens C2 500m canoeing and in rhythmic gymnastics, where we had yet a little hope for something.

So unless there are some last minute roster changes here are the changes to tripartite eligibility.

The following nations will no longer be eligible in 2028 to obtain a tripartite invitation:

:KUW :MOZ :SAM :ZAM

The following nations will now be eligible in 2028 to obtain a tripartite invitation:

:ANG :BAR :BOL :BIH :FIJ :NAM :PRK :PAR :SRI :TKM :ZIM

The number of tripartite nations will increase from 93 to 100. Obviously not a good trend.

Mozambique and Zambia are one withdrawal away from retaining tripartite eligibility while Angola, North Korea and Paraguay need one more athlete to avoid becoming a tripartite nation.

A country becomes a tripartite nation if in the previous two Olympics (with summer and winter being separated, I assume) they had an average of no more than 8 athletes, correct? Is there any drawback to becoming one, like for example Angola and Paraguay probably, or is the only negative side of that the fact that apparently you're able to send fewer and fewer athletes?

.

There's no drawback, it's just sad seeing nations sending fewer athletes

Does :PRK not participating in Tokyo due to COVID counts towards Tripartite eligibility? As they have always had a fairly modest team for olympics. Even this year they will be sending 16 athletes. Even though they missed out on weightlifting qualification.
