Athletics at the European Championships 2022

Portugal stole Dongmo from :CMR and Inchude from :GBS. Both competed for their previous nations up to the Olympic level.

There are many such cases in Portugal. As if someone in their federation has a job of scouting Africans at the Olympics...

Isn’t it the case in Portugal, like in Spain, that the club athletics teams are basically owned by the football teams?  So plenty money to sign up athletes & naturalise them.

it goes way beyond that...

most of these athletes spend a lot of time training in Spain/Portugal e often they really choose to live there 365 days/year because it's way better than in their native Country...

the fact that they also earn their money by being under contract with local clubs helps, no doubt, but rarely it's the true reason behind those switch of nationality...

and definitely it's not a supermarket-like buy as the Gulf Nations/Azerbaijan and a few other Countries do...

Schilder would have just barely made the Top 5 in 1982. :p
