Topicmaster1010 2,744 Posted October 23, 2023 #292 Share Posted October 23, 2023 On another note, does anyone know if Shkurdai's OQT's at the World Cup count for qualification?

I don't know but I would expect them to count pending WAQ allowing them to compete. Topicmaster1010

Topicmaster1010 2,744 Posted October 30, 2023 #296 Share Posted October 30, 2023 so looking at the World Aquatics calendar, I see this week we have an entry called "Jose Finkel Trophy and Brazilian Olympic Trials". Can any Brazilians confirm this? Seems way too early to have Olympic trials already.

Seems way too early to have Olympic trials already. probably they have to cope with the fact that we have the World Champs in February and then their Summer season is over (and it will be time to focus on the Olympics rather having trials too close to the big event) or maybe it's just like here in Italy, as we're having the first official "trials" (which are not true trials, as usual, but events where to achieve the OQT) at the end of November and then a second "trials week" in April they might have a second wave of trials, too (later in 2024) maestro

I found this (in Portuguese) which says it's a "safeguard" meet for Olympic selection but seems a bit strange to call it "Olympic Trials". maestro, Josh and Topicmaster1010

Our Olympic Trial will take place after Worlds next year. As Dullard said, it is a "safeguard" event for the athletes. Tbh, I didn't even know that, CBDA has estipulated so many criterias for this event, that I've no idea what is the mission of our athletes in it haha. Seems they will open a kind of opportunity for those who don't take the marks at the Trials, to be selected through this competition. Topicmaster1010 2,744 Posted November 11, 2023 #300 Share Posted November 11, 2023 So Japan released their qualification times for Paris recently and if you thought the British times were crazy, wait until you see these times. Most of them are the times of the 10th place finishers at the 2023 World Championships. All times need to be achieved at the Japanese Olympic Trials next year which have been moved up a month from April to March (March 17th-24th to be exact). Baffling decisions from a program that has been in decline the last few years.
