There was some discussion about this over at SwimSwam around the time of Canadian trials and apparently you can't use an OCT if you're entered as relay only.

So relay only swimmers can't enter individual events unless they have the OQT?

If they have the OQT and there are spots available why would they be entered as relay only to begin with?

Yes. That’s why the are ‘relay only’.

Sorry poorly worded and a stupid and pathetic question. So would an NOC be able to get around a relay only athlete competing in an individual by getting them in via OCT and then also using them in the relay, or would that be too risky incase there aren't enough OCT spaces (basically wanna know if I have to change my list or not to include relay only/potential relay only athletes with OCT times)?

I'm no expert but I think you understand it well (bold). Personally I see no reason why relay only athletes shouldn't be allowed to compete individually if they have an OCT.

Ok cheers. I think it's best I leave the list as it is as it'll get clogged up with swimmers who'll most likely won't qualify as an OCT. But I'm glad you told me this as not only is it less work for me to do but I now know that only :GBR James Guy can compete for us in the 100m Fly instead of :GBR Joe Litchfield who I originally thought would do so.

Swimming - Qualification Tracker - Totallympics

So if you take a look at the Totallympics swimming qualification tracker, I've updated each event to include universality swimmers based on the latest report by World Aquatics. Also included are OQT swimmers and potential OCT swimmers. Just ignore the athlete counts for now since I haven't updated that yet.

The list is only about 95% accurate due missing universality times from the last 4 days of the qualifying period (e.g. Mexico) and some NOCs not yet confirming events for swimmers but it should give an idea of roughly how many swimmers there will be in each event and who will be in them.

That was one of the names I was confused about. He's still listed as competing in the 100m freestyle on the latest universality report and I don't remember him bettering his 50m freestyle time at the European Championships, so who knows? . I just want the official entry lists to come out already.

    • Meanwhile, Iran killed a Palestinian civilian on the West Bank last night (and lightly injured two Israelis) in a 180 missile attack, which - like in April - seems to have ended up being not much more than somewhat annoying and damaging a few military buildings.
    • America was founded as a country for immigrants from all over (legal immigration), Israel is the land of the Jews, the one land of the jews, so yes i could definitely say that they should take them back, though after the recent attacks i'm not sure who can take them where since it seems like we are about to turn the middle east into a big crater (hopefully)
    • Until about 15 years ago, France probably didn't even have a national futsal team? Or if they did, they certainly didn't play in big events. On the other hand: Italy, Russia and Ukraine have always been strong in this sport, although Italy almost always lost to Spain in key matches.
    • In these days it's rare for a Russian to support for the Ukrainians, am I right?
    • The whole "homeland" talk (which both Israelis and Palestinians engage in) always bothers me because of how incredibly stupid it is.   As a random example, I am Acadian. So where is my "homeland"? Is it Quebec, the "French" area in North America? Is it New Brunswick, where my ancestors fled to after being deported? It it Louisiana, which was set asside for them as a place to live by the British after they were deported? It is Nova Scotia, where the Acadians settled before being conquered and deported? Is it Normandy, where my ancestors lived in Europe before settling in Nova Scotia? Is it Denmark, where my ancestors lived before conquering Normandy? Or do I go back further? Or maybe I should live in Great Britain since my ancestors were forced to become subjects of the Crown? And I'm Roman-Catholic, so maybe Italy is my homeland?   Especially stupid because for every single one of those places, some other group has a better claim as it being their "homeland" than I do, because it turns out it isn't that rare for multiple ethnic groups to have competing legitimate claims over the same area.   Anyway, I ended up moving to Washington State, which is objectively not "my homeland" but, hey, weather's nice here.
    • This feels like... not an argument an American (or a Canadian :P ) should be making given where we live and how many countries could "take us back"...
    • Plus losing one of the classic winter sports in Nordic combined would be yet another disaster. Like it's not going downhill faster than Marco Odermatt already.
    • And considering Lappartient is basically known as having 'Conflict of Interest' as his middle name....yeah.
    • What nonsense is this?     And Tour de Ski only in Italy...meh. It was such a cool event, years ago.
