2:06.79 for :USA Kate Douglass, and 2:07.86 for :USA Alex Walsh in the women’s 200m individual medley at the US Olympic Trials.

McIntosh went from 1st to 3rd most favoured within a couple of weeks. Honestly, that might be good for her, there’s lots of pressure that gets put on yourself when you come into an event as the favourite.

:USA US Olympic Trials: Day 8

Finals:

Men's 100m Butterfly (OQT: 51.67)

1. Caeleb Dressel - 50.19 Q:yikes:

2. Thomas Heilman - 50.80 Q :yikes:

3. Dare Rose - 50.84

4. Zach Harting - 51.37

5. Aiden Hayes - 51.43

6. Ryan Murphy - 51.46

7. Luke Miller - 51.48

8. Kaii Winkler - 51.51

Safe to say that Dressel is officially back. And Heilman shocks Dare Rose to take the 2nd spot. He'll be absolutely terrifying in a few years. With both Dressel and Heilman doubling up here, Brooks Curry and Matt King are officially on the team.

Women's 200m Individual Medley (OQT: 2:11.47)

1. Kate Douglass - 2:06.79 :yikes:

2. Alex Walsh - 2:07.86 Q

3. Isabel Ivey - 2:10.09

4. Beata Nelson - 2:10.38

5. Leah Hayes - 2:11.81

6. Zoe Dixon - 2:12.01

7. Lilla Bognar - 2:12.48

8. Lucy Bell - 2:13.67

Douglass and Walsh a cut above the result of the field. That's Douglass's first time under 2:07 as well.

Women's 800m Freestyle (OQT: 8:26.71)

1. Katie Ledecky - 8:14.12 Q

2. Paige Madden - 8:20.71 Q

3. Jillian Cox - 8:22.97

4. Aurora Roghair - 8:28.59

5. Rachel Stege - 8:28.77

6. Kate Hurst - 8:28.92

7. Claire Weinstein - 8:29.80

8. Ashley Twichell - 8:32.75

Ledecky didn't seemed pleased with the time after the race. Madden, meanwhile, dropped 7 seconds off her PB to take 2nd. She's been having a great trials.

Semi-finals:

Advancing to Women's 50m Freestyle Final:

1. Gretchen Walsh - 24.06

2. Torri Huske - 24.09

3. Abbey Weitzeil - 24.48

4. Simone Manuel - 24.51

5. Erika Connolly - 24.54

6. Catie DeLoof - 24.66

7. Rylee Erisman - 24.66

8. Maxine Parker - 24.68

Rylee Erisman is only 15 years old :yikes:.

  • Matt King - M 4x100m Freestyle Relay
  • Blake Pieroni - M 4x200m Freestyle Relay

Doubles count:

Men: 9

So for Pieroni to make the team, he needs one of Finke or Whitlock to qualify in the 1500m freestyle which seems 99.99% certain to happen.

Yep, forgot to add one. Thanks!

I didn't expect you'd actually add one hah. I feel pushy now. You do a great job with these updates. When I did that one the other day I had to come back three times to fix glaring errors.

:USA Katie Ledecky with an 8:14.12 in the women’s 800m freestyle at the US Olympic Trials… :surprise::yikes:

Looked visibly disappointed with that time

if this is her standard, the 800m free are going to be an amazing race to watch in Paris...it gives hopes to quite a few contenders

however, I think she wasn't in full rest here, she doesn't need that to qualify for the US team in her special disciplines

I’d take everything they say with a grain of salt, but a SwimSwam commentator actually said that Ledecky is at least partially tapered.

As much as I hate to admit it, her times, although still ridiculously quick, have been getting slower and slower throughout the last couple of years. She’s 27, her age might be catching up to her…

She just can't cope with such a large program anymore so gets slower as the meet progresses. At least in Paris she won't be doing the 200 free so the 3x200 rounds will be replaced by just one 200 in the relay.

Wouldve loved to see Summer contest the 800m Free in Paris.

Age will eventually catch up with Ledecky

Based on what I saw,Summer wouldve had a huge chance of a monumental upset.

Oh well…maybe Ariane could cause an upset in the 800

    • Yes, he is ones of the first supporters of Milei, owner of one of the most important stock market of Argentina (Bull market), he was peronist and for "unknown reasons" start to be libertarian.   Even being libertarian in my case, i have to admit that him is one of the dumbest of "Milei supporters" and a clown when  he is in TV, he made me feel  embarrassed in many occasions.   Camila Giorgi being with him is.......inconceivable.
    • Ya but the replacement is Pat Bondi, a choice that is only better in so far as Pat Bondi isn't credibly accused of having had sex with multiple underaged girls.   Also, you might recognize this name: Pete Hoekstra has been nominated to be the US ambasador to Canada.
    • Camila Giorgi has a new BF Ramiro Marra. Apparently he's some politician/journalist from Argentina. One of Milei's supporters dare I say? @LDOG@konig
    • Skeleton Tour moves on to Yanqing  this weekend.  Asian Cup races tomorrow, then the World Cup on Saturday, and then possibly more Asian Cup next weekend before everyone moves over to Altenberg for the start of the full Skeleton / Bobsleigh tour again.
    • 2-1.   But it's good to have a great champion in the squad. I've been waiting for this my whole life. I wish we had such stars in every sport.
    • But he beat Mouat, who seems to be almost unbeatable
    • Argentina has a really solid lineup, especially if they have prepared seriously for this event. Of course they don't have a champion like we do, but in this format it is enough to win 1 match to play the decisive doubles.
    • Today we must to beat Argentina. It looks like Sinner will have to win all the singles and doubles for us to defend the title. So far, the 2nd and 3rd favorites before the tournament have already been eliminated: Esp and USA.
