Summary for this weekend according to my, I hope correct, calculations.

Men's sabre:

-Qualified: :KOR:USA:HUN:FRA:EGY:CAN

-Battling for the European quota: :ITA v :GER . Germany's last chance is to win and hope Italy finish 4th or worse.

-Battling for the Asian quota: :IRI v :JPN . Japan need to win (with Iran finishing 3rd or worse) or to finish 2nd (with iran 7th or worse).

Women's epee:

-Qualified: :KOR:ITA:POL:FRA:USA:EGY

-Battling for the European quota***: :UKR v :EST . Estonia's only chance is winning with Ukraine finishing 6th or worse.

-Battling for the Asian quota: :HKG v :CHN . China need to finish in top 4, or finish 5th (with HKG 11th or worse).

*** but if USA win, this might (also depending on POL and FRA's results) become the American quota and go to :CAN

Men's epee:

-Qualified: :ITA:FRA:HUN:JPN:VEN:EGY

-Battling for the Asian quota: :KAZ v :KOR . Korea need to win, or finish 2nd (with KAZ 6th or worse)

-Battling for the European quota****: :SUI v :CZE v :ESP v :GER . A big mess, anyway to have a chance GER must finish at least 2nd, ESP at least 3rd, CZE at least 6th.

**** but if KAZ win and JPN also kick HUN out of the top4, this would become the Asian quota, so both KAZ and KOR would qualify

Last tournament for men's Epee in Tbilisi. So according to my counting. The possibility for Europe individual quota is like this:

:ISR Freilich - 99% probability he gets it

:CZE Beran - others who purchase him are nearly 20 points behind. If :CZE jumps :SUI in team ranking, the next in the line might be :SUI Bayard

:NED Tulen, :FIN Vuorinen, :NED Van Nunen, :GER Brinkman are out early and they can't make it. They were the possible Europeans who could get the quota.

:ESP Pereira, :POR Frazao or :BEL Loyola - would have to probably get a medal to possibly grab the spot. But because Beran was in TOP 64 even he lost in the first round to Loyola, there is a low possibility, but you never know. Currently, 2 are in TOP 32, Frazao still waiting for his 1st round game.

So, we have a draw:

Both Ukraine and Estonia start and at the 1/8

:UKR - :SUI - not an easy lot for us

:EST - :HUN and potentially :FRA in 1/4

Loyola tied Beran in the Olympic ranking at 76 points but Beran is ahead beacause he has a win. So Loyola has to hope for a :CZE team qualification tomorrow in order to grab the 2nd European individual quota.

    • I`m a traditionalist and I like alpine skiing competitions in the morning hours, illuminated by the sun In ski jumping this is practically non-existentthis in contrast the early 21st century (It's nice that at least there's Planica at the end of every season). There are also traditional competitions under artificial lights, like in Schladming or Madonna di Campiglio. There's no need to do the same thing everywhere as in ski jumping. Alpine skiing finals are rarely super exciting, because usually everything is clear and the skiers are tired from the long season. Finals were often canceled, so this year it was okay for me. If someone wanted a spectacle, that's what the Olympics Games or the World Cup in Kitzbuchel.

    • Baffling scheduling again. It's like FIS want to drive people away.    It's the Finals, on paper your big conclusion to the season, yet it feels like "let's get this over with". Just compare how the ATP treat their finals with this.   Ok, you want to have the GS & SL on Tuesday/Wednesday. That's fine, i've been advocating for more mid-week starts to begin with. But why, oh why do you have them in the middle of the day, on a work week.  Why aren't you having them in the evening, in prime time, when people are off work. Make it a big special event, which people want to visit and not during the day in front of a 100 fans. It's not that hard to choose a place with some floodlights.     And even this week we don't have Champion League football, so the night is free from big competition. Perfect opportunity to have alpine skiing on TV right now, but noooo.
