After Day 10 Rio: 176/306 events, 71 NOCs with medals

After Day 10 Tokyo: 199/339 events, 80 NOCs with medals

At this point into the games you needed 6 golds to enter the Top 10 in Rio while 5 are still enough in Tokyo for the moment; 2 golds for Top 15 in Rio, compared to at least 3 in this edition. However, more nations have managed to win at least one gold so far (49 in Rio).

Day 10 was huge for :CHN China. Despite the two lost finals in badminton, it has still been their most successful day so far with 5 golds, 11 medals altogether. There is a bit of a gap to the :USA US now. Seeing as not everything is working for the Americans, there is a chance for the Chinese to top the medal table. None of the other teams are likely to interfere with the battle of those two.

:ITA Italy the furthest behind (8-9-6 in Rio) compared to Rio while :JPN Japan (7-4-16 in Rio) and :AUS Australia (6-7-9) are doing very well at the moment.

:DEN Denmark, :NOR Norway and :SWE Sweden combined are lacking some medals (17 in Rio) but have improved in golds (2 in Rio). More to come too.

Most successful games for :ECU Ecuador, could finish higher than :COL Colombia and :VEN Venezuela.

:KEN Kenya have begun medalling but they might fall short of their performance last time (2-3-0 in Rio). :CUB Cuban fans will be relieved as wrestling and boxing will save them (2-1-4 in Rio).

Countries with more than one medal after Day 10 in Rio that have not won a medal here yet (aside from absent :PRK North Korea): :BRN Bahrain (1-1-0 in Rio), :VIE Vietnam (1-1-0) and :LTU Lithuania (0-2-1)

4th place counter*

I have to say that Cuba's current 2-3-3 is shocking. So far, this has been the best ever Olympics for Brazil at 2-3-5 on day 10, and even though we will not get more gold medals than in Rio and, in the end, might not even win as many total medals as in Rio, at least until now we have had our best Olympics ever. And even our best performance ever is marginally ahead of Cuba who was totally discredited before the OG started.

As long as they keep their traditions in boxing, wrestling and long jump/triple jump alive, they should be fine.

Brazil on the other hand should be doing a bit better in my opinion (judo for example) but we could say that about a couple of other countries. Especially Mexico and India.

We expected no medals from judo this time, so 2 medals is pretty good. The main "disappointments" so far have been skateboarding and surfing. We expected 6 or 7 medals in these sports, but we only got 3. Needless to say, our expectations were unrealistic.

We don't have many chances for medals left -- 1 in football, 1 in sailing, 2 in canoeing, 1 in open water swimming, 4 in volleyball and beach volleyball, 2 in athletics, 1 in boxing. We need 8 out of these 12 medal chances to actually become real medals, something that will not be easy at all, for us to reach the goal of winning 20 total medals. There's also a chance in gymnastics, but it's so unlikely I will not even count towards our real chances.

True, it was surprising to see Cargnin win a bronze.

As for skateboarding, street went better than the recent world champs and you still have men's park to come.

The next day will decide how good this SOG will be for Hungary, it's truly a Super Tuesday. The wrestling final of Tamás Lőrincz, the medal race of Zsombor Berecz, 3 Canoe Sprint finals where we can win (gold) medals, and maybe one more medal chance in wrestling with Alex Szőke in the repechages. Plus we will also play our QF against Netherlands in women's water polo. If we don't win at least one gold tomorrow, I will accept that at best we will have 3 gold in the end or maybe only 2.

Well, that was indeed a Super Tuesday for us, 2 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze, plus Viktor Lőrincz secured the next wrestling medal/final and the women's water polo team won their QF.

Actually they chave 8 points.
