Some fresh updates after the eliminations of Dallas and Colorado in the NHL Stanley Cup 2nd round Play-Offs.

:SUI  The Colorado Avalanche forward Sven Andrighetto accepted the invitation and will join the Swiss for the World Champs.

:SWE Also Sweden will have another NHLer in their team the Columbus Blue Jackets center Alexander Wennberg accepted the invitation as well and will join the "tre kronor" in Bratislava.

:RUS  send home another NHLer the dfencer Bogdan Kiselevich was removed from the team and will be replaced by Vladislav Gavrikov the Columbus blueliner, Team :RUS has now in Bratislava 24 players, the last called player is the defencer of Colorado Nikita Zadorov.

btw the Russians had today their first training in Bratislava and they trained with this lines:

Grigorenko - Malkin - Dadonov in the elite line

Ovechkin - Kuznetsov - Kaprizov in the 2nd line

Kucherov - Gusev - Anisimov in the 3rd line

Kovalchuk was put for now in the 4th (checking line) with Andronov and Plotnikov

the 13th and 14th forwards are currently Barabanov and Telegin

:CZE also received positive answers today from 2 NHLers the Dallas Stars forward Radek Faksa and the Colorado Avalanche goaltender Pavel Francouz will join the Czech team, but they certainly will not manage to arrive before the weekend, so they will miss the opening game of the czechs against Sweden

+ Also the :FRA team confirmed today what was rumored and known already yesterday. the 19 years young "wonder boy" of Columbus Alexandre Texier accepted the invitation and will join "les bleus" in Košice.

Texier started this season in Finland, where in the 55 matches for KalPa Kuopio scored 14 goals and had 27 assists (41 points). after the end of the season for Kuopio he was called by the NHL Columbus Blue Jackets for the end of the season, he debuted in NHL playing 2 matches and even scoring a goal, he was then send to Cleveland in the AHL (7 matches with impressive scores 7 goals + 2 assists) then returned to Columbus for the Play-Offs.

He´ll be the only NHLer in the French team in Košice, this also means the end of the dream for one of the players that already arrived to Košice, since FRA will have now 26 players and will have to send home one of them, very likely it will be the Lyon forward Cedric Di Dio Balsamo, but this is still to be confirmed by the french team staff

and the teams started to submit their official rosters. Remember each team must today name at minimum 15 skaters and 2 goalies to the official roster,

they can add players until the full roster of 22 skaters and 3 goalie whenever they want until the end of the preliminary round (but to be ensured the named added player(s) can play in the match, they must do it max 2 hours before the start of their match)

:SVK being the first one, named 20 skaters and 2 goaltenders (so for the preliminary round we have still 3 places - 2 skaters + 1 goalie) forwards Libor Hudáček and Dávid Bondra + goalie Denis Godla are not submitted in the official roster yet..still hoping and waiting for our Boston Bruins trio (Halák, Chára, Cehlárik) ?

so here the updated official roster of :SVK

I´ll try to update all teams immediately when they will be submitted and officialized. you should find the link in the first page. players marked in bold are the officially submitted and allowed to play.

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.
