Yeah, I think the European Championship model (bunch of sports all occurring at the same time) is more likely to be successful.

But they can’t just shut non-major sports out if they want it to be successful. It shouldn’t just be a gymnastics, cycling, athletics, swimming competition.

I'm only interested in gymnastics events, of course, but I'm still baffled at the choices of the medal events. Only mixed pairs and women's group in acrobatic gymnastics? Why? Synchronized trampoline? A mixed group event in aerobic gymnastics, but no individual men's and women's events? Insane.

Artistic and rhythmic gymnastics are not much better, either. One gymnast per nation, six nations in finals. This is just ridiculous. I like the idea of giving a bigger opportunity for smaller nations to get medals, but seriously, at least leave eight gymnasts in finals. I can't forget how dreadful it was to see Iridon from Romania winning a medal on the uneven bars after a fall. She's terrible on this apparatus, so how the hell did she win a medal? Even I can't get too excited about this event, honestly.

The events are the same as the last games. The quotas were reduced. Countries can have 2 gymnasts per gender in artistic. The acrobatic program does suck, but aerobic makes sense. They don’t even have individual aerobic at the World Games anymore, and I’m fine without the useless Trio event. I’m cool with synchronized trampoline, I just wished they would’ve added tumbling.

Well based off the countries that have announced teams, it does appear we will see quite a few elite athletes here.

Ok, I’ll rephrase that, they shouldn’t and fans shouldn’t be ok with it.

    • For the summary and lowlights of Thailand's preparation in hosting the ongoing Sea Games, I kindly suggest those who are interested to read from this English language article from Thai media outlet, Thai Enquirer: https://www.thaienquirer.com/63469/thailands-sea-games-2025-under-fire-budget-management-and-technical-controversies/
    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
