:CHI will send a female biathlete to Gangwon @heywoodu

12 athletes in total: https://eldeportero.cl/revisa-nomina-team-chile-juegos-olimpicos-invierno-juventud/

Nice to see South American nations sending a good number of athletes. Maybe it's unlikely, but I hope one of them can repeat Colombia's feat in 2020 and win a medal.

:BRA managed to break the record for gold and total medals at the Parapan American Games, and I saw somewhere that the total medals (343) is only lower than :CHN at the Asian Para Games in 2010 and 2022 among all para multi-sport competitions. Of course :USA doesn't go with their A team in Athletics and Swimming which account for more than half of the events here. It will be interesting to see if Brazil can get closer to USA in the medal table at next year's Paralympics.

Other than :MEX losing almost half of its gold medals compared to 2019 (the biggest drop here), there aren't many changes in the top 10. :CHI did very good at home, and :COL seems in a good position to do the same in Barranquilla. Even if previous host :PER lost a position in the rankings, it won much more medals than in 2019, which shows the legacy of those Games. Percentage-wise, the biggest winner was :CRC, going from 0 to 4 gold medals, and also winning +8 medals compared to 2019.

Nations that had their best Games: :BRA :COL :CHI :ECU :PER :CRC :DOM :ARU.

Number of nations that medaled was the same than Lima (a record 21), with :ARU (which won its first ever medal) replacing :JAM.

WR #6 Canada qualify for the Paralympics. WR #3 Brazil, and WR #5 United States both miss out, as this was the final qualification opportunity for the Pan Americas.

Surprising since :USA is the current Paralympics silver medalist. Blame it on IBSA for reducing team quotas from 10 to 8 to allow for more categories in Judo.

USA gets the Paralympic quota. Canada, Brazil and Colombia will have another chance at the 2024 Qualification Tournament (Canada is the favourite).

Nice to see Brazil winning its first ever Parapan American Games medal after losing many times to Colombia.

Winter Paralympians and world medalists in cross-country skiing, :BRA Aline Rocha and Cristian Ribera are now Parapan American Games medalists :yes

Despite winning multiple medals in Track, Brazil has no tradition in wheelchair events, so good move bringing them to the Games.

When you brake a WR but doesn't win a medal...

:BRA Elizabeth Rodrigues set a new WR of 17.80m in the women's Discus Throw F53, but as the event had only two competitors, no medals were awarded.
