The 7th gold medal for China.
ExpandBased on this WCH , i think China can at least win 6 gold medals in Tokyo out of possible 8 , let's wait for 2019 and see what can Russia and Kazakhstan deliver , even though they won't affect China's chances much in Tokyo
Since the women's weightlifting was included in the Olympics,Chinese weightlifting get 5 gold medals in every Olympic games.

of course I know that's why I said he will be tougher next time.
btw what's his chance to get selected for the Olympics ? I know China can send only 4 but I assume he is a strong candidate to fill one of those 4 slots. or maybe China decides to send 4 weightlifters in 4 lightest weights , that's what I hope for
Now Tian Tao’s biggest opponent in China is 61kg.
ExpandProbably, but I want to know if Tian is a 'nice' guy
I prefer cheering for nice people instead of for the flag next to their name, which means much less
(case in point: Dutch athlete Dafne Schippers, who is/was world class but comes across as such a huge negative personality there's no way I want to cheer for her)
I don't know about his personal life, but Tian Tao is very handsome so he has many fans in China.
ExpandI didn't expect Tian Tao to really challenge Moradi but he did. I think Moradi wasn't totally focused today. he should made that 237kg but 3 gold medals and 3 WRs. this is a great result. but this guy Tian will be tougher next time, Sohrab better more prepared.
Tian Tao did very well today,he only change his weight for four months.
ExpandWho should I be cheering for, Tian Tao or Moradi? Moradi has clear penalty points for being a convicted doper and another penalty point for being unfairly treated (in a good way for him) by the IWF president, so the decision will have to be made based on their personality.
@MHSN Is Moradi a decent guy worth cheering for?
@Function CR Lee Same question about Tian Tao

I think Moradi is stronger than Tian Tao,but I’ll still cheer for Tian.
Feng Lyudong was a pity, he had a diarrhea last night.
Two Chinese are focusing on the world record.

I'm 100% sure this is no problem for China to qualify the maximum possible quota. they should not even care about that.
but I thought after being absent for a year. the Chinese team is more prepared to dominate the competition . making a statement or something like that. only one gold after 6 events isn't great for China.
You're right,In the CCTV interview, the Chinese athletes were also a little unconvinced, indicating that they would beat their opponents in the next match.
But indeed, China believes that the Olympic points is very important. The leader of the Chinese weightlifting team said before the game that we did not have any goals in this competition and strive for Olympic points.
ExpandOnly new WR in total
so far we have new WR only in 4 out of 9 possible chances in men's events. I really don't like this "World Standards" to remain for long.
I was expecting more from China. but at least they got their first gold.
In 2018 world championship, the Chinese weightlifting team's first goal is the Olympic points, next is the gold medal,so they didn't choose a high weight to begin their competition.
3 gold medal for China, and world record in total.
Huang Minhao is really tough, but he still lifted the weight.
China finally got a gold medal.
Oh,the North Korea athlete failed in snatch.
expecting the Olympic events' A final.
ExpandThanks! And 204kg is impressive, she seems to be back on her old level then (which should be expected from a teenager to be fair :p )
China also have another new star,in the women's +87 catagory,in 2018 Chinese weightlifting championship(September),Li Wenwen(from Fujian province)defeated Meng Suping(2016 Olympic champion),Li's grade is snatch 145kg,clean&jerk 180kg,total 325kg,this is her first year to compete the national competition.
But,Chinese national team still choose Meng Suping to complete the world championship, because she has a lot experience. In 2018 Chinese weightlifting championship(April),Meng lifted 321kg(snatch 140kg,clean&jerk 181kg)and claimed the champion. In this game,Li Wenwen is the runner-up,her grade is snatch 141kg,clean&jerk 175kg,total 316kg.
ExpandDo you happen to know what Jiang Huihua has been doing since she won the world title (48kg) as a 17-year old in 2015? I see she's finally back with only junior wolds in 2016 as other major competition since that world title. Any weights or something she has been lifting?
From 2016 to 2017,Jiang Huihua is falling behind Hou Zhihui and Tan Yayun(2013&2014 world champion),those two athletes both from Hunan province. As the NO.3 in Chinese national team,Jiang Huihua couldn't get some international competition chance.
In 2018,Tan Yayun suffered from some injury,so Jiang Huihua became the NO.2 in Chinese team, and in 2018 Chinese weightlifting championship(September),Jiang Huihua defeated Hou Zhihui and claimed the gold medal(snatch 90kg,clean&jerk 114kg,Total 204kg).

Will the Thai weightlifting team be banned from participating in 2020?
Will their 2018 World Championship medals be cancelled?
May be a good news for the Chinese team.
