If you feel bored after almost all main events have been cancelled due to the coronavirus and can't find anything to watch, there are some good news (if you like volleyball, that is ) FIVB has decided it will upload replays of some of the best international Volleyball matches in recent years for free on their Youtube Channel. Sure, it's not the same as watching it live, but at least its something

 

Today they added the men's volleyball match - from Nations League 2018 preliminary round, you can watch it here:

 

Tommorow they will be broadcasting the women's match between and   from World Cup 2015

 

 

On the 25th of March they will add the Division 1 match  vs from Men's World League 2017.

For men, the tournament wll qualify all 7 group winners + 5 best second placed teams. The pre-qualified teams are: , , , (Hosts) and , , , , , , , (Top 12 teams in the 2019 edition)

Well, probably a much better ranking system, I like that now every match result will be calculated, but still, why don't they use decimals ? It would make it much more clear to understand. I mean, currently Mexico and China have 136 points each and are ranked 25th and 26th respectively, but Dominica and Haiti, which have 58 points, are both ranked 88th, so there has to be a difference.  It would be much better if they used decimal formula, for example a team could have 123.75 points, the next team would have 123.25 points etc.

During Saturday's Bundesliga game between AlpenVolleys Haching and SVG Luneburg a record-breaking set was played, as the home side won the 3rd set 50-48. That one single set lasted for over 55 minutes.

 

This is now the longest set in the history of German volleyball, and fairly close to the "World Record" set in South Korea a few years back (56-54)

According to our media, USA withdrew from hosting the tournament as it would collide with  celebration of the Independence Day. Still, the 2021 edition  final tournament will most likely be held in United States.

Earvin Ngapeth got arrested once again,  and the charges are serious as he was charged with sexual harrasment. Apparently after his team won the Club World Championship in Betim, Earvin went to a restaurant with some teammates and he "slapped a waiter's butt". He claims he mistook her for a friend of his whom he met eariler in Betim and immediately apologised after he realized his mistake, but the woman did not believe him and placed charges against him.

As of now, Benfica is very close to a historic debut, because they beat Mladost 3-0 in the 1st game.

We will observe a historic night today since Benfica Lisboa and Mladost Zagreb will clash in the 1st leg of the 3-rd round men's Champions League qualification fixture. This is the final qualifying stage, the winner will get to play pool C (with Sir Collusi Sicoma Perugia, Verva Orlen Warszawa and Tours VB).

Not Africa, but there's quite a big chance either Chile or Colombia will qualify from South America, especially since Venezuela faces a variety of problems recently. Not the same level of unexpected, but for example Chile hasn't qualified a men's team in any olympic sport recently.

It was supposed to be 8, but India withdrew, even tough the draw doesn't really matter, it will be Thailand-South Korea in the final after all

Still, a pretty strange decision by AVC to have group A contain only 3 teams. If India withdrew, then I think the next not-qualified team - Hong Kong (or, in case if they would not be able to participate because of the political turmoil in their country - New Zealand) should take their place in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

The German Supercup match between SCC Berlin and VFB Friedrichshfen was played on specially installed LED-panel floor, covered in invisible anti-slip glass. This type of floor was tested earlier in some minor sports, like squash, however this is the first time it was tested during a important game of any Olympic team sport, so it was a bit of a historical event.

withdrew from hosting the 2020 Nation's League finals, because the date ( 1-5 july) would interfere with their Independence Day Come on, I understand patriotism, but withdrawing less than a year before the competition starts is just so low

 

Also in related news, another great idea came from the brilliant minds of FIVB, who demands a fee of ONE MILLION DOLLAR from the federations that want to replace the U.S as host

 

Something tells me they will push the hosting to Poland again after they realize how ridiculous their demands are and that noone is going to apply for hosting rights once agaIn
