Lithuania will be continuing the tradition of participating in TISC Edit: You'll just have to keep reminding me and tagging me before the major deadlines, because I'm not as confident in my abilities to keep track of things at the moment.1 point

Points for guessing difference should be reduced in some sports (or conversely points for right winner should be increased), yes. But giving the same 0 points to someone who gets the result wrong (but kind of "guesses" the match will be close) and to someone who also predicts a wrong winner (but by a large margin), will increase the randomness/luck factor. Especially in sports where matches are most often decided by a small margin of points/goals like handball, waterpolo or field hockey.1 point

Why not? + or - 9, it was a relatively close game! Besides, you only get 2 points for that. The closer you are the more points you get, and it makes more sense that being off by 18 is better than being off by 30 and thus gets some consolation prize. With 20+20 there should be enough importance in choosing the winning side, and yet rewarding your skill to predict how close the game will be.1 point

[PREDICTION CONTESTS] Discussion Thread

It's somewhat inadequate right now, since you only get 10 points for correct winner and up to 20 for points difference. It should be 20+20. Right now it's possible that you get 18 for predicting wrong winner, while at the same time it's possible that you get 10 for predicting right winner. With 20+20 predicting right winner will give you more points in every scenario.1 point -

It is also confirmed at the Short Track World Cup in Budapest we will see , , and . Think North Korea in particular has a decent chance to qualify. Other nations there that haven't qualified for Pyeongchang yet are , and . No , or . Thailand should be at the Asian World Cups in November as they were last year. Latter two odds are slimmer but possible, Qatar has an athlete who got 4 seconds off qualifying time a year ago, far better than their athletes at the Asian Winter Games. Indonesia as mentioned already has athletes qualified. UPDATE: The Indonesian athletes have scheduled a meeting with the federation on Thursday. So far it seems the federation is considering sending them to the short track WCs in Shanghai/Seoul. Very interesting! If they pull off a Bradbury type result even the Olympics would be possible.1 point
