  8. Team Slovakia 1 (1+0) MEN'S -75kg Middleweight: Andrej Csemez ----------------------------------------------------------------- Other Sports Introductions Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Canoeing Slalom, Canoeing Sprint, Road Cycling, Golf, Artistic Gymnastics, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Wrestling Slovakia competed at the Olympic Games in boxing only once in the post Czechoslovakia era. And it was already at the very first games the new country attended, in Atlanta in 1996, we even had there two boxers, two men, but they both lost their opening fights. Peter Baláž in the 1st round to Indonesian opponent and Gabriel Križan to a French boxer in 2nd round after having a bye in the opening round. The 23 years old Andrej Csemez, a boy no one in his neighborhood will calls him by any other name than by his nickname "Bandi" was not even born when our boxing was at the Olympics for the last time. But, thanks to this wonder kid the incredibly long droughts (25 years) of Slovak boxing will finally close. The former EU 2018 champion and Minsk 2019 European Games Bronze medalist won his quota to Tokyo at the European Qualifying Tournament after beating Ryszard Lewicki of Poland in the opening round and was scheduled to face Miguel Cuadrado of Spain next, but the competition was postponed after three days due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Returning from England he tested positive for the virus, becoming the first Slovak athlete to do so, and had to go into quarantine with the entire Slovak team. But did not gave up his big dream, continued to prepare himself and when the qualifying tournament re-started in France this May (more than a year and half after his 1st match) he faced the Spaniard and won again 5-0 to advance to the quarterfinal and direct olympic qualifiying match. In that what can be named as historic bout for Slovak boxing he defeated the Belgian Lancelot Proton de la Chappele again 5-0 and qualified himself to the games and returned the country after long, very very long 25 years back to the Olympics Boxing ring. As I wrote, Slovakia never won a medal at the Olympics in Boxing since the independence, in fact, never won a single match at the Olympics so far. The country will be looking at our "Bandi" this late July/early August to finally change that. But it is appropriate to mention that in the Czechoslovak era, the former TCH won 6 Boxing medals, 3 of them by Slovak boxers, 2 of them gold, the legendary Ján Zachara in 1952 and Július Torma in 1948, the last medal is from the Moscow 1980 games, Bronze of Ján Franek.

  10. yeah, but the situation emerged from the game. his hand stopped the movement of the ball. Last year it would be a penalty in any match. but, ok, whatever, now it is just history.
  11. He literally stopped the ball with his hand, dude !
  12. Still no news about . At this point I fear we will miss the 2nd country in Tokyo after
  13. How this was not a penalty ? I can guarantee you last year it would be a penalty in ten out of ten cases
  14. Morata scored. Now I saw everything

  20. Yay, I totally fogot about this one hahaha, I wrote it in July 2018 and I see I was not really sober that evening Overall Pretty disappointing cycle. 6 in Tennis lol, jesus, what was I drinking ?
  21. yeah they even listed Richard Murray who passed two weeks agao heart surgery, He is very likely not even going to compete, I suspect he will be just classified as anchor leg of the relay without RSA even arriving to his leg probably and I bet also on the DNS in the individual event. this mixed relay really destroyed any chances for eventual reallocations in Triathlon. They have 55 quotas for M and 55 for W and still want also the Mixed Relay. Total failure by ITU. We are and will end first under the line in both events !!! never talk me about our athletes luck anymore ffs !!!
  22. It will depend on several factors. How the track for the Semis/Finals will be built and by who. What the weather will be like on that given day and especially at the moment of their rides. This sport is wonderful and I absolutely love it, sadly it has also one disadvantage, it is often about luck and actual random conditions. The Japanese will have the big advantage of the home water knowledge. They may be really dangerous this time. But overall, it will really depend on the given day and conditions. I would not be surprised to see medal(s) but also would not be shocked if we not win anything to be honest. There a lot of candidates. However, We never failed to medal in M C1 since we are competing as independent country, so it would be great to keep this streak going for another 3 years.
  23. and few more pics from the departure of our first athletes. Full Canoe Slalom Team, 4 athletes. 4 coaches, 1 Physio, 1 Video analyst and Maseur Matej Beňuš silver medalist from Rio accompanied to the airport by his 3 sons , Grigar and Mintalová with last calm answers to the always same stupid questions of journalists
