  1. As usual my biggest focus is going to be for the surprise of nobody on Ice Hockey. The whole season IIHF WCH program, I just love to follow all the different tournaments in all categories, international tournaments, different national championships, NHL and all this marathon will again lead to the Seniors Top Division World Championships in May. and what concern the rest of sports, there Plenty of things, hard to select only some, basically excited about following the whole Paris 2024 Qualifiers cycle, mainly the Wrestling world champs and Paris qualifying tournaments are going to be strongly followed here this time just like the Canoe Slalom worlds and eventual internal olympic qualifiers. Among the interantional major sport events, certainly the Athletics worlds at our southern and the European Games at our northern neighbors are my most awaited events for next summer, plus obviously the Tour de France one of my most beloved tradition. but to start the year it is almost all about the winter sports season. all winter sports world cup races, and upcoming world championships in February and March.

  9. As usual, I do not want and will not vote for athletes from my country. But this time I have to make an exception. At the same time, Iet me please, allow myself to unusually nominate as a potential candidate for the Best Youngest Athlete of the Year an athlete from my own country. : There are not many young athletes in the world who have achieved what he did this year, and I dare say that there are not many even in the entire history. February 2022 He became the top scorer of this year Olympic ice hockey tournament as the youngest player ever, was named the most valuable player (MVP) of the Olympic tournament as the youngest player ever and was named to the All-Stars team of the Olympic tournament ...yeah, you guessed right, as the youngest player ever. Above all, especially and literally mainly thanks to him, Slovakia won a shocking and historic bronze medal at the Olympic Tournament. May 2022 At the World Champs in May, he was again our best player by far, the most productive player. the leader of the team that got Slovakia to the quarter-finals and where we were very close to another sensational upset and qualification to the semifinals over the home invincible Finland. July 2022 And in July, he completely rewrote the history of his country, region, and basically Europe, when he became only the ninth European draft as Number 1 in the NHL Draft . Today Today, he is the only one from this entire draft year to still playing in the NHL itself. which is itself an uncredible thing. absolutely crazy thing for a 18 year old kid. Today Juraj Slafkovský (pic available on my avatar) is still only 18 years old, at the Olympics he was 17 and had to play with the well-known protective grid/mask on the helmet that young hockey players have to wear.

  11. and he ended in 10th place, I would definitely put him higher, but well, it is still the first time he was among the 10 Anyway, he sounds like a very funny guy. In perfect slovak he made the whole hall smile with his last sentence: "I am super happy to be for the first time among the best 19 slovak athletes, and I will continue to work hard to be once in the nearest future the best among the best 10" and ended with a wide smile, everyone know what he thought by this

  19. and it is today. 30 Years of existence of Slovak NOC time for the final part of the recap During this period, competed at 15 Olympic Games (7 Summer & 8 Winter Olympics) From the 15 Olympics our teams returned home with medals from 12 of them. We won medals at every Summer Olympics so far, while in the Winter edition we had to wait to our 4th participation in Torino to win the first one, but since then we won medal at every next edition as well. won during this period in total 42 olympic medals (14-18-10) 32 at Summer Olympics (10-14-8) and 10 at Winter Games (4-4-2) In 2000 Sydney, Slovakia had the largest Olympic team in its history. 117 athletes especially thanks to 3 different Team sports (M Football, W Basketball & M Water Polo), it is still the only time SVK qualified in a team sport and immediately with 3 of them... Paradoxically at the Winetr Olympics, Slovakia participated in a team sport at every edition with M Ice Hockey, In Vancouver they were joined also with the Women team The most successful athelets at the Olympics are Anastasiya Kuzmina (Biathlon) with 6 medals (3-3-0) , the only biathelete in the world to win 3 individual gold medals at 3 consecutive WOG followed by the Hochschorner twins Peter & Pavol, 3 times consecutive Olympic champions in Canoe Slalom M C2, they also have a bronze from London Followed by Michal Martikán (Canoeing Slalom 2-2-1), Elena Kaliská (Canoeing Slalom 2-0-0) and Zuzana Rehák Štefečeková (Shooting Trap 1-2-0) Other multiple medalists are Erik Vlček (Canoeing Sprint 0-2-2 all in K4), Martina Moravcová (Swimming 0-2-0 first Slovak female athlete to win an Olympic medal for Slovakia), Juraj Tarr (Canoeing Sprint 0-2-0), Michal Riszdorfer, Richard Riszdorfer and Denis Myšák (all Canoeing Sprint 0-1-1), and shooter Jozef Gӧnci (0-0-2) The only time Slovakia won 2 medals in 1 event. Sydney 2000 M C1 (Silver Michal Martikán, Bronze Juraj Minčík) something we are no more able to repeat, because of 1 boat per cpountry nonsense rule
