  1. Yeah, I think it’s just high quality projection mapping.
  2. Ah, now it’s time for the main propaganda segment
  3. The Rio 2016 string curtains are back!
  4. Yep, there was definitely a budget for this opening ceremony Giant projections, seat lights, and some A.R. (I think)
  5. What a sad two days. I’m definitely sending positive vibes the way of our Serbian users.
  6. They got a gold medal in Kun Bokator
  7. No, I meant will face disciplinary sanctions or anything like that from the IIHF?
  8. Oh, I don’t see them either now that you mention it Sumo being dropped would be quite shocking as it was routinely one of the most popular sports. I believe it sold out of tickets for multiple editions of The World Games. It was certainly the hottest ticket last summer as least. Of course, there was also that dramatic disqualification/re-match episode last year too. Bowling being dropped wouldn’t be as big of a surprise to me. It’s not the most television friendly sport, though it certainly can be broadcast and easily followed with decent graphics. It also has a semi-costly, specialized venue that can’t shared with other sports on the program. Still, it would be tough to see such a mainstay booted off the program. EDIT: I forgot when I wrote this, but the IBF (International Bowling Federation) was embroiled in a financial/governance scandal recently. Link: https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1123554/ibf-financial-allegations-on-eve-of-egm The gold medalist in women’s singles at The World Games 2017 was also disqualified for doping, so maybe a combination a strikes against the sport.
  9. I love some causal sexism
  10. It really sounds like her support team let her down. What a shame
  11. @hckošice what happens in that case? Fighting is very frowned upon at the international level, right?
  12. Perfect guy to represent the host country in 2028. It’s meant to be clearly
  13. Jessa Khan takes silver in a shocking loss though! She was her country’s only female gold medalist from the 2018 Asian Games. She looked good at the start of the bout, but she had a couple of costly mistakes towards the end. Interestingly, she beat Jenna Kaila Napolis at the 2019 SEA Games in The Philippines. They’ve now both defeated each other as home favorites. A fun little rivalry to take note of for the future.
  14. First medals to be awarded today Hopefully some of those competitions are broadcast
  15. Another wrestler going to the WWE.
  16. Sambo will be added to the main sports program of the The World Games 2025. I believe all the sports that featured in 2022 will stay on the program as well. The LOC has shortlisted the following sports for the invitational sports program: American Football (Flag Football), Cheerleading, Dragon Boat, Duathlon, Freestyle Inline. I believe one (or maybe more) of the following para sports will be included as well: Wheelchair Rugby, Wheelchair Dance, Para Ju-Jitsu, Freediving Disabled. The IWGA also mentioned a proposal regarding Powerboating in the article, but the status of that seems unclear to me. 17. We already knew that from their Eurovision entries
  18. Martina Fontanive (bobsleigh)
  19. I definitely understand the security risks around TikTok, especially when it comes to national defense and sensitive devices. My thought when I posted my comment was that some observers might consider banning an app outright to be a restriction of speech. The argument could be made that the government is making a decision on who is allowed to facilitate speech, and in what context. However, the national defense angle certainly complicates that argument. I’ve never used the platform personally, so I don’t really have an established on opinion on the mater. I just find the whole situation interesting from a communications law standpoint.
  20. Yeah, I don’t think sharing/authoring a news article about a current event is asking to be “treated like royalty.” I’m pretty sure it’s a basic job function and an essential part of press freedom.
  21. has been in the 40s for the last few years. Musk’s takeover of Twitter has been a blow to press freedom on the platform though. He literally suspended multiple US reporters from the platform after they reported on all the drama surrounding that account that tracked his flights. I’d imagine my government’s stance on TikTok might rub some observers the wrong way as well. is likely counted as one country since that’s how presents itself internationally. I think most rankings like this tend to count to the UK as a monolith, rather than as separate entities.
  22. 2023 World Press Freedom Index has been released.
  23. This looks like it’s part of the host broadcast coverage (it has the same graphics pack anyway), but it’s not being shown anywhere else. It seems kind of odd given the rights are free and there are certainly there other NOCs who stand to do well in the sport.
  24. Alex Deibold (Snowboarding)
  25. took some losses on the women’s side, but it seems all the other NOCs remain largely unchanged. Still, COPACI making a case for most confusing and poorly written qualification system today.
