  5. I had a look at the leaderboards for this year. Gogolev's short Program score places him 3rd on the short Program leaderboard only trailing Malinin and Kagiyama. Of course there's a home ice scoring boost but this is still very encouraging for the team event.
  6. Not sure. Women's finals were already cancelled. Usually in the live results, if you qualify for the final, there's a Q next to your name but that wasn't the case here. I guess we'll see.
  7. I believe finals are canceled because of the weather. Kingsbury's run should be good enough for bronze. Also 6th place for Julien Viel Edit: Never mind

  14. Great work! A few things: Bobsleigh: I would imagine Lotholz and Appiah would be both events if we only end up with two sleds Freestyle Skiing: Based on the selection criteria, Irving, Fontaine, Nadeau and Duchaine are all comfortably qualified in aerial's. Max Moffatt is currently on the outside looking in. Elliott Vaillancourt is the athlete currently on the 16th qualification position. Luge: No men are entered in the final world cup so the men's singles dream is over.

  16. Glad to see Alberts Smits on the Latvian team. Always exciting when top prospects get named to the senior team.
  17. Mikael Kingsbury, Marion Thenault and Megan Oldham are all entered in world cup events this week.
  18. Canada doesn't usually reject quotas. Eilers is currently listed as eligible on the FIS website so she'll likely take Loutitt's quota.
  19. Now first in the overall U23 standings despite missing the first 3 stops
  20. First career world cup win for Elizabeth Hosking!
  21. Great for her but that does complicate the matrix a bit more. Men Rank Event Athlete 1 10000m (1) Ted-Jan Bloemen Q 2 5000m (1) Ted-Jan Bloemen Q 3 Mass Start (1) Antoine Gélinas-Beaulieu Q 4 Mass Start (2) Q 5 500m (1) Laurent Dubreuil Q 6 500m (2) Anders Johnson Q 7 1500m (1) Q 8 500m (3) Cédrick Brunet Q 9 1000m (1) 10 1500m (2) 11 1000m (2) Women Rank Event Athlete 1 3000m (1) Isabelle Weidemann Q 2 5000m (1) Isabelle Weidemann Q 3 3000m (2) Valérie Maltais Q 4 5000m (2) Q 5 Mass Start (1) Ivanie Blondin Q 6 Mass Start (2) Valérie Maltais Q 7 1000m (1) Béatrice Lamarche Q 8 1500m (1) Ivanie Blondin Q 9 3000m (3) Laura Hall Q 10 500m (1) Béatrice Lamarche Q 11 1000m (2) Q 12 1500m (2) Q 13 500m (2) Carolina Hiller-Donnelly 14 500m (3) Brooklyn McDougall 15 1500m (3) 16 1000m (3) Now there are 7 unique names on the women's matrix with 8 quotas available so there is only room for one more athlete. It's very possible that the 3rd athlete in the 1000m won't be named to the team now.
  22. Anders Johnson and Cedrik Brunet are provisionally qualified in the men's 500m. Dubreuil won the race but is already pre-qualified.
  23. Carolina Hiller-Donnelly and Brooklyn McDougall are the top two finishers in the women's 500m and are provisionally on the Olympic Team.
  24. Canadian Olympic Speed Skating Trials begin tomorrow in Quebec City. You can find the list of participants, schedule, results and more at this link here. It will also be streamed on the CBC website and youtube. The most important thing however, is the Olympic Matrix. As there are only a maximum of 8 women's and 7 men's quotas, Speed Skating Canada has compiled a matrix to rank all the event finishers by importance. The places higher up in the matrix are given more priority. Several of the spots on the matrix have already been filled out based on the World Cup Results. The rest of the spots will be filled out this weekend.
