  5. Didn't see anyone mention Tang Qianting's 100m breaststroke time of 1:05.36 yet. That's good for the 13th best performer of all time. Another contender to watch out for in Paris.
  6. Unfortunately wasn't able to watch live because of work. So if someone wants to post the results, please do. Some thoughts from tonight: Good to see Peaty back on the podium. Swimming is better when he's at his best. Great swim from Fink too. Really happy for Koehler winning gold. You could definitely see how much it meant to her. She's now a contender for Olympic gold. Can't remember the last time I saw two swimmers swimming in the wrong lane. Surprised their was no DQ. Armstrong should be the big favourite but Coetze could definitely challenge. Tang has been having a good meet so far. She'll probably be the favourite for tomorrow but it still seems wide open. Happy that Angus was able to get in. Also had no idea Haughey was this good at breaststroke. Safe to say she's a pretty good swimmer. Good to see Portugal get a gold medal. Ribeiro will get a dark horse in Paris. Reeeaally slow women's Backstroke semis. Curzan looks like she's going to run away with the gold. Men's 200m freestyle final looks to be a fun race tomorrow. Good to see Rapsys swimming well Kate Douglass is a beast. Glad to see Pickrem swim a PB too.
  7. One year ago, if you told me that we would get 3 women under the 100m breaststroke OQT, there's no way I would've believed you. So now we're at: Angus: 1:06.66 Branton: 1:06.59 Lepage: 1:06.58 Looking like the race of the meet at Canadian trials
  8. Looks like Pan wasn't even trying during that 200 free heat. Dead last and doesn't advance.
  9. Sophie Angus with a nice swim to make the semifinals. Just 3/100ths off her PB.
  10. Big PB and OQT for Makrygiannis (53.43)! Otherwise, pretty slow backstroke heats for both genders. Edit: Just noticed Masiuk missed the semis
  11. Essentially, each team that's on offense has 4 chances (downs) to gain 10 yards (or score a touchdown if they're 10 yards or less from the endzone). When they gain 10 yards, the number of downs resets. Usually, when a team doesn't gain 10 yards after 3 downs, they kick a field goal if they are close enough to the endzone. Otherwise, they will punt the ball away to the other team. If they didn't punt and failed to gain the yards they needed on the 4th down, they would turn the ball over to the other team right at the spot where they were tackled. When they punt the ball away, then the opposing team has more yards to gain in order to score a touchdown. That's the most common way of losing possesion. Depending on the situation, teams sometimes take the chance on 4th down. Other ways you can lose posssession are Fumbling the football (getting the ball knocked out of your hands before you go down and the defense gets possession of the ball before the offense) Getting intercepted (throwing the ball to the defensive team) Safety (getting sacked in your own endzone)
  12. First the Patriots, now the Chiefs. Getting real tired of these dynasties.

  16. On another note, I feel like the men's 4x100 free relay could look pretty good come Paris. We already saw how Knox split 47.96 in prelims this morning. We already know how good Liendo and Gaziev are. And given how good his NCAA season's been going, Kharun could also be a monster on the relay. Pretty good lineup right there and there's also Acevedo and Kisil in the mix.
  17. I heard she did a 200m freestyle time trial at the US Open last year. Her time was over two minutes I believe.
