  4. 52.57 in order to qualify for the final. Men's 100m backstroke is insane these days
  5. Apparently these are the first men's 100m backstroke semis at a major competition without an American since 1908

  7. Nice to see Ching Hwee Gan qualify for the 1500m freestyle final. The hosts will have someone to cheer for.
  8. Angharad Evans, who has the #1 time in the 100m breaststroke this year, failed to advance to the semifinals 2024 1500m Freestyle Bronze Medalist Isabel Gose also didn't qualify for the final
  9. With Summer's win today, she is now 16th on the all-time World Championship individual medal standings. This was her 5th career individual World Championship gold medal which ties her with Ruta Meilutyte, Alexander Popov, Leon Marchand, Lilly King, Hannah Stockbauer, and Inge de Bruijn. Of course, Meilutyte, Marchand and King could still increase their totals her. This was her 7th career individual World Championship medal. That ties her with Adam Peaty, Michael Gross, Brendan Hansen, Chad le Clos, Missy Franklin, Simona Quadarella*, Ian Crocker, Ryan Murphy, Otylia Jedrzejczak, Nic Fink, Natalie Coughlin, Zhang Yufei*, and Li Bingjie* on the all-time list. The athletes in asterisks could still increase their total here. She's also the most decorated Canadian swimmer at World Championships. She was tied with Penny Oleksiak and Kylie Masse with 9 medals but has more golds than both of them.
