  1. Big month of World Championship trials coming up: US: June 3-7 Canada: June 7-12 Australia: June 9-14 France: June 14-19
  2. Derek Gee finished 4th overall in the Giro d'Italia standings
  3. Screw the Panthers. Dirtiest team in the league. Every game a player tries to commit some illegal headshot, skate to the knee, choke, or other dirty play to the other teams star players. Everyone besides Barkov and Bobrovsky can be blasted into the sun and the punks Bennett, Ekblad, Marchands, Tkachuk and Mikkola can be blasted all the way to Pluto.
  4. One of my favourite weeks of the year is nearly upon us. Canadian Trials begin on June 7th and the psych sheets (entry lists) were released earlier today. Some interesting observations: Summer is entered in 7 events. Her usual 5 + the 800 free and 200 back. She says she's planning to race 5 events at Worlds. Seems the 400 free, 200 fly, 200 IM, and 400 IM are certainties and she'll decide between the 200 free, 800 free, and 200 back as her last event. Mary-Sophie Harvey is entered in a whopping 8 events Despite being the reigning Olympic bronze medalist, Kylie Masse is not racing the 200 back. Perhaps she's prioritizing the 50 and 100 now that the 50 is an Olympic event 2024 Olympians Sydney Pickrem, Regan Rathwell, and Julie Brousseau are all absent from the psych sheets. Maggie Mac Neil, Kelsey Wog, and Rebecca Smith also aren't present but they've all announced their retirements already Finlay Knox is apparently dealing with a back injury but is still competing here in 6 events Javier Acevedo is apparently not retired. He's entered in just the 50 back Ruslan Gaziev is back apparently. There was word that he wouldn't be returning after his doping suspension last year Neither Oleksiak or Ruck are entered in the 200 free likely confirming that their days on the event are over. Also it seems like Penny is entered in the 100 fly for the first time since 2019? (although it's possible she'll scratch it) Looks like Laon Kim is no longer focused on the long distance freestyle events Notable entries are below:
  5. She should ask Leon Marchands coach for some advice. I think he knows a thing or two about changing the schedule for his athletes.
  6. Now that all the winter world championships for this year are done, it's a good time to do a recap of the Canadian performances. Overall, Canada won a total of 26 medals in Winter Olympic events this year (10 gold, 9 silver, 7 bronze). That would be a better performance overall than Beijing. Compared to other countries this year, Canada is tied 3rd in golds (behind Norway and the US and tied with Switzerland) and 5th in total medals (behind Norway, Germany, the US, and Switzerland). There were a bunch of other top 8 performances as well. The table below could help identify who'll be the medal contenders next year. 7. Yes, compared to other countries, Switzerland has most of their top NHL players here. The only notable guy missing is their best defenseman, Roman Josi, who's injured right now. However, this year, most of the top countries had a good amount of their top players here with this being the year before the Olympics so what Switzerland has been doing is very impressive. Next year, an Olympic title would probably not be realistic with all the best NHL players playing but they will definitely be in medal contention. They're definitely one of the teams that's given Canada the most trouble during their Olympic games. They'll have a very good top line and defense.
  8. Also a fun fact (unless you're Canadian): This is the first time a Canadian team featuring Sidney Crosby has failed to win a gold medal since 2006
  9. Yeah, it didn't occur to me until after the game was over that it was Fleury's last game I wish I had your optimism . No doubt, we'll have a much better team next year and the players should take it a lot more seriously but the same can be said about the other nations as well. And as we saw today, all it takes is one bad game to get knocked out. Should be fun with all the NHLers back!
  10. But still, this was, on paper, the best Canadian team assembled since 2015 and that team dominated their tournament. This team has arguably the 2nd best player in the world, another top 10 player who's one of the all time greats and a young player who seems primed to be one of the faces of a new generation of star players + 3 other players from the 4 nations team including the staring goalie. I watched the 3rd period and they were outplayed. The score should've been worse. There's no excuses. It's flat out embarrassing.
  11. Most ridiculous result since we lost to Latvia at the world juniors Thank goodness for the 4 nations tournament win otherwise the country would be in shambles.
  12. We lost to Denmark in the quarterfinals
  13. And Denmark just took the lead with less than a minute to go!
  14. Sooooo, about that... Kristian Gkolomeev Goes Under 50 Free World Record In 20.89 At Enhanced Games Showcase
  15. So she went 2:06.83 in the 200m butterfly final!!! Also went 1:58.03 in the 200m freestyle leading off a relay. At this rate, she's going to make Summer McIntosh look like an age group swimmer in a few years.
  16. Austria qualified for the quarterfinals! What a week it's been for them with this and Eurovision!
  17. As a Canadian, Yu Zidi is already starting to terrify me. She'll be 15 in 2028 and who knows how fast she'll be going then.
  18. lol, they were my favourite I wasn't expecting it to do well with the televote but 0 points is a tragedy
  19. 0 for Switzerland, seriously!!?
  20. Iceland still at 0 points
