  1. Don't know if this has been posted yet but Norway named it's first 7 athletes for the olympic team a few days ago. Men: Johannes Thingnes Bø Tarjei Bø Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen Sturla Holm Lægreid Women: Tiril Eckhoff Ida Lien Marte Olsbu Røiseland Interestingly, Tandrevold still hasn't been named to the team. Also apparently on the men's side, Dale and Bjøntegaard won't compete at the olympics.
  2. Your numbers are correct! As far as I know, Greece doesn't have any more chances of getting quotas unfortunately.
  3. Brazil: Alpine Skiing: 1 Bobsleigh: 5 Cross-Country Skiing: 3 Freestyle Skiing: 1 Skeleton: 1 Czech Republic: Alpine Skiing: 6 Biathlon: 10 Bobsleigh: 5 Cross-Country Skiing: 12 Curling: 2 Figure Skating: 6 Freestyle Skiing: 2 Ice Hockey: 48 Luge: 4 Nordic Combined: 4 Short Track: 1 Skeleton: 1 Ski Jumping: 6 Snowboarding: 5 Speed Skating: 2 I think the lost quota might be from speed skating. I remember you guys had a 3rd skater that was in qualifying position for a period of time. Lithuania: Alpine Skiing: 2 Biathlon: 6 Cross-Country Skiing: 4 Figure Skating: 2
  4. *Long Post Alert!!!* Alright, guess I'm posting everything at once. So I had some free time so I figured I might as well try to make predictions for each event. These are mostly based on this years world cup results and last years world championships. Please keep in mind that my knowledge of alpine skiing and the nordic sports (besides biathlon) isn't the greatest so any advice would be appreciated. Most events were mostly straight forward to predict but a lot of the events (especially in biathlon, short track, and some freestyle skiing and snowboard events) have been very unpredictable this year so that made my job a lot harder. A lot of the events also don't have too much data so far this year so I'll update the predictions once more events are finished. 7. Well on the bright side, at least I now have a 2 hour break to sleep each day during the time where there's usually only a single hockey game happening.
  8. Out of all of the sports that had quotas cut, speed skating very well might have had the worst cuts. At least with cutting short track quotas, you still had extra quotas left over once all the relay and starting positions were filled out. Here, there's gonna be at least 14 deserving skaters on the men's side that are going to have their olympic dream shattered because the IOC was too cheap. If you're gonna cut quotas, at least make them reasonable cuts. Reducing the men's speed skating quotas from 100 to 83 is not reasonable.

  10. I pretty much just looked at the world cup rankings for each distance and went down the list until I got to the maximum number of skaters allowed in that distance making sure that I only picked 3 for each country. In the men's 500m, the 3rd Korean is ranked 34th but qualifies because both the Netherland's and China have 4 skaters ahead of him. https://shorttrack.sportresult.com/Rankings.aspx?evt=11213100000092&rep=65310 Edit: Oh wait, now I see what you did! You calculated the results for each individual world cup whereas I just looked at the overall ranking.

No other nations's gained quotas and the extra quotas instead went to the bigger nations. Even after adding 5 quotas to all the relay teams, it still isn't enough to get to 56 on the men's side. Great Britain is the biggest winner as it gained 2 men's and one women's quota and now has a mixed relay qualified though the 2nd women's quota is definitely not secure. The final World Cup stop is this weekend and there's a good chance there'll be a lot of changes since the worst result gets dropped from the rankings. Hopefully some more nations will be able to qualify. Also on another note, does anybody know what's up with the wikipedia page about the qualification? Their rankings are completely different from the ISU website.
  13. Congrats to the Braves! An incredible story considering they barely made it into the playoffs with only 88 wins. Thank goodness the astros didn't win. Still haven't won a championship without cheating yet. Guess it's hard to win when you don't know what pitch is coming

  15. Game 1 of the world series ends with a convincing 6-2 win by the Braves. Unfortunately for them, their starting pitcher, Charlie Morton, got injured and will be out for the series.
  16. Canada's Uniforms. The big puffy jackets are the opening ceremony uniforms, white ones are the closing ceremony uniforms, the rest are miscellaneous. https://olympic.ca/2021/10/26/feel-canada-team-canada-lululemon-unveil-the-beijing-2022-team-kit/
  17. Okay, it's still early but I tried to calculate the olympic quotas. The qualification system is very confusing so there's a good chance there'll be a few mistakes but it should be hopefully be mostly accurate. 18. Czech Republic: Ondrej Palat (Tampa Bay Lightning), David Pastrnak (Boston Bruins), Jakub Voracek (Columbus Blue Jackets) Finland: Sebastian Aho (Carolina Hurricanes), Aleksander Barkov (Florida Panthers), Mikko Rantanen (Colorado Avalanche) United States: Seth Jones (Chicago Blackhawks), Patrick Kane (Chicago Blackhawks), Auston Matthews (Toronto Maple Leafs)
  19. Sweden has also named it's first three players to its team: Mika Zibanejad (New York Rangers), Gabriel Landeskog (Colorado Avalanche), and Victor Hedman (Tampa Bay Lightning). No surprises there.
  20. National League Scores (for games that matter) San Diego 3-2 San Francisco Milwaukee 3-8 LA Dodgers American League Scores (for games that matter) Baltimore 1-10 Toronto Boston 5-3 Washington Tampa Bay 12-2 NY Yankees LA Angels 4-6 Seattle NL West title is still up for grabs. Giants can clinch it tomorrow with a win and the Dodgers can force a tie breaker game for the division with a win and a Giants loss tomorrow. In the AL Wildcard race, the Yankees lost while the Red Sox, Blue Jays, and Mariners all won. This means that the Red Sox and Yankees are now tied for the wild card positions with the Blue Jays and Mariners both a game back. The Red Sox and Yankees can both punch their tickets into the wild card game by winning tomorrow. Should either of them lose, they'll have to hope that both the Mariners and Blue Jays lose or else there will be an extra game to decide who advances. Should be a crazy, fun today tomorrow. All games start at 15:00 ET.
  21. First day of the final weekend series is over now and what a day it was especially me being a Blue Jays fan (even thought it would've been nice if the Red Sox lost too). National League Scores (for games that matter) San Diego 0-3 San Francisco Milwaukee 6-8 LA Dodgers American League Scores (for games that matter) Baltimore 4-6 Toronto Boston 4-2 Washington Tampa Bay 4-3 NY Yankees LA Angels 2-1 Seattle Giants are still two games ahead of the Dodgers for the NL West division. The Dodgers will need to win both games and the Giants will have to lose both games to force a 163rd game of the season to decide who wins the division and who plays in the wild card game. The American League is a lot more complex. 4 teams still alive for two wildcard playoff spots. The Yankees are currently one game ahead of the Red Sox who are one game ahead of both the Mariners and Blue Jays. As long as the Yankees win one more game, they'll clinch one of the spots. After the loss by Seattle tonight, the Boston Red Sox are in control and will clinch the 2nd spot if they win both of their remaining games. Should they lose one of those games, a loss by both Seattle and Toronto would still give them a playoff spot while two wins by those teams would force a tiebreaker game. Should the Red Sox lose both of their remaining games, they would be out of the playoffs entirely if Seattle and Toronto win both of their games while two red sox losses and a win by either Seattle or Toronto would force a tie breaker. The Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays are tied but on the outside looking in. The best way for either of the two teams to get in would be to win both of their remaining games and hope the Red Sox lose at least one to force a 163rd game. To have sole possession of a wild card spot, the team would have to win both games, the Red Sox would have to lose both games and the other team they're tied with would have to lose at least one of the games.
