  1. Lorena Wiebes with a move to the track (scratch) now that the road season is done and yeah, that was probably the most easily anticipated women's gold of these championships
  2. To bring a bit of positivity: I'm on my second listen (almost done) and can definitely make it in time
  3. Why? I mean, a team event adds nothing, we just see the exact same thing but with the scores added, whereas synchronized actually is a different thing to watch. Like, synchronized diving...fine. But a team event in diving where the scores are simply added? Meh.
  4. A 'team' event that actually kind of adds something, interesting
  5. Finally, there we go, a full and clear schedule https://www.kayak-polo.info/app/#/games
  6. Although the talk on places like Letsrun is significantly more ridiculous. Stuff like "Radcliffe's record stood for years and now they're going minutes faster?!". Well, yeah, duh. How about swimming world records being obliterated when the super suits came in. Someone running 2:15 on shoes from, say, 2017 would be far more....odd.
  7. That's the only thing I had so far, I think I'll make do with that indeed. Not ideal, because the schedule there looks just so incredibly messy and it's even harder to tell the knockout schedule, but alright. Don't think it can be watched without a Planet Canoe subscription anyway and I'm not doing that I'm afraid
  8. One day away, still no schedule in terms of who plays when and such https://www.canoeicf.com/canoe-polo-world-championships/deqing-huzhou-2024
  9. 2:09.57, jesus Whoever invented those shoes hopefully has gotten some fat, fat bonuses already
  10. They've slowed down, halfway they're only on pace for 2:08/2:09. Booo.
  11. Chicago Marathon today, the leading women started on a fairly decent 2:06 pace.
  12. Holy smokes they did it, they caught the booster That was one of the alltime rocket highlights, no doubt.
  13. Now it's official. And once again, he looks like he did a 5km ride to the local supermarket. I honestly think the only reason for him to not attack 150km earlier is because it'd be too boring even for him
  14. Shocker, Il Lombardia goes to Pogacar
  15. Huh, good memory, 2020 But he was far from impressive there: https://speedskatingresults.com/index.php?p=3&e=22921&r=7&s=45899 https://speedskatingresults.com/index.php?p=3&e=22921&r=4&s=45899
  16. Aren't you confused with Kai Verbij? Kai in 't Veld has never really been anywhere near things like World Cups, he was always a backmarker in Dutch championships (usually finishing somewhere around 18th-20th out of 24 or so). I mean, there's not even a Dutch Wiki about him, that says something when it's about speed skating Not to talk bad about him of course, definitely not, I wish him all the best and in a country where he is basically the only competitive skater, he definitely has chances to qualify for nice events! The last years he was mostly out because of a hernia and a ruptured achilles tendon.
  17. Not yet, Dutch federation is willing to release him, but he does need to pay back about 10k euro in costs they made for his training and such. His father is Greek by the way, so it's not a random nation switch
  18. Rafael Nadal (after the Davis Cup) He is a tennis player, for those who don't know
  19. Is anyone aware of a clear schedule for the canoe polo world championships? So far all I can find is this one here, but it's not exactly a clear one, just a massive table with lots of possible matches and no information on which matches are in which knockout phase and so on. https://www.canoeicf.com/sites/default/files/cap_wc_bulletin_6.pdf
  20. Spotify playlist: Two caveats, unfortunately: Tunisia isn't on there, I could not find it (the artist, yes, but not the specific song), and I believe for Malta the version isn't exactly the same. Do with that information as you wish, of course, personally I simply solve that by listening the Spotify playlist as my main 'thing' and separately taking some time for the other two songs, shouldn't be much of a problem
  21. If she had retired, I think I would have heard it 'around', so I am just assuming she is still competing, although in between she is also working as FIS delegate in places like Bulgaria during the summer
  22. One of the legends of Dutch football from the 70's, Johan Neeskens, has passed away aged 73. His most famous moment by far was in the World Cup final against West Germany, when in the 2nd minute he made 1-0 from a penalty in his characteristic way: indescribably hard through the middle.
  23. 2016 U20 world champion (800m) Kipyegon Bett , bronze at te 2017 senior world championships, has died yesterday after a month of illness. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kipyegon_Bett Massive talent in 2015-2017 or so, got caught for EPO and never really competed anymore outside of Kenya after that.
  24. Any idea if Samaneh Beyrami will be going or are names not mentioned yet? I mean, if they've registered for CC and they're sending a woman, it can't realistically be anyone else, but still. She's super friendly so always cheering for her
  25. Yeah, same here, this weekend definitely doesn't have nothing I mean, so far I've seen lots of racing with cars, motorbikes and regular bikes, college football highlights, ski jumping, mountainbike and so on. But the most important thing of the weekend for me (MotoGP/2/3) being in the early morning is lovely because it opens up the day so much And yeah, Christmas is usually fun to take a look on Flashscore.com, especially the first day is the one day in the entire year where the whole page is almost entirely empty, with only a bit of football in very few muslim-majority countries
