  1. And another victory just handed away for
  2. Wouldn't be surprised He has even stated clearly he does these jobs for one thing: power. At least he doesn't hide behind "I want to make things better" or something
  3. Pagers, not smartphones. Apparently the terrorists had already stopped using smartphones, because of the risk of being hacked, so they had switched to using pagers, a more simple technology. But then their shipment of thousands of pagers was replaced by pagers with a little...extra touch.
  4. More than 75% of companies https://www.yahoo.com/tech/over-three-quarters-german-firms-124211118.html
  5. Whatever one's position is, technologically speaking this is a massively impressive operation. Causing thousands of these things to, presumably, overheat their batteries and explode in the same time period is one of the highest impact hacks in history, one might say.
  6. Meaning they'll have to fall back to the level of technology of countries like....right, Germany and their billion fax machines they still rely on.
  7. Lappartient is...dubious, to say the least. He's got a double digit number of concurrent jobs, some of which are plain conflicts of interest (like being director of a big port organization and also of an organization that is supposed to run checks and controls on the ports). Making his UCI presidency and mayorship of a French town intertwine for personal gains wasn't great neither, just like promoting his local race to the level under the World Tour without there being any reason whatsoever other than his own personal preference. I know no candidate is going to be clean, that's probably impossible unfortunately, but Lappartient is definitely not known to have a spotless position At least there is one very much good thing he will be remembered for: bringing the 2025 road world championships to Rwanda, which for many cycling fans has been a massive dream.
  8. Although you can wonder if any of the other candidates is really going to be significantly better.
  9. Too bad for Coventry it's not a FIFA election, otherwise African support would have gotten her a long way already.
  10. I very much do, it's just that you come in with a double-leg tackle, to use a football analogy (fucking agenda, fucking gender equality, fucking this and that, ridiculous this and that), so it makes it hard to understand what you actually mean (like in concrete terms) and which part of it is possibly the fault of a single person instead of the world changing.
  11. Then again, "2004 Olympic swimming champion and 2008 Olympic swimming champion and 2004 Olympic swimming silver medalist and 2008 Olympic silver medalist and 2004 Olympic bronze medalist" has even less of a ring to it.
  12. Like things wouldn't change with another IOC president instead of Bach. No president is going to afford to keep the Olympics stuck in 1928 forever. You do realize people were yelling like this at some point when they allowed, god forbid, women to compete?
  13. No single person can destroy the Olympics. The only thing that might happen is a certain category of changes which some people agree with and others don't. People are often a bit prone to overreacting, I think (me very much included, I know ).
  14. I've seen your posts on threads about things like which events to add and take away and think I'll vote for K. Coventry
  15. Do those Houthis realize they can also simply ask to be killed? Because they know that's gonna happen now, this just seems a complex way of asking to die.
  16. was so close to a nice surprising win, gave away a 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 lead.
  17. Especially the single trick things feel a little like 'throwing shit at the wall and see what sticks', yes
  18. Lorena Wiebes won the women's road race yesterday. This morning the junior women's road race, final sprint didn't exactly go as planned:
  19. Wanyonyi! What a finish!
  20. 5k leader Chebet nearly pushed out of the race by a camera man because of Tamberi doing his usual antics straight through the 5k race.
  21. I assume because it kinda feels like it's marketed as a breakaway event, an alternative for the Diamond League. Anyhow, we'll see how it goes
  22. No need to go in your usual 'everything will be cancelled and done from now on' mode, but it's not a great step by the looks of it, no.
  23. Not sure the DL will be decimated, but isn't there the Michael Johnson thing with track events only, in yet another blow to field events?
  24. No idea how or why this suddenly appeared high on the list without a new post, but excellent timing, I had no idea this was going to start today but do want to keep an eye on it First time in 24 years is there, apparently.
