  1. Cancelling/changing the one in Singapore would be kind of weird and pure 'panic football' as it'd be called in Dutch
  2. Yes, and the Lady knows it better than anyone.
  3. I'm definitely afraid of that, although I'm going to raise a glass of wine (or two, or three) if she manages to snatch away a gold from Princess (or better, Queen, as she probably demands) Dorothea.
  4. Possibly because she's been trying to fight and fight for some equality for her (instead of every single thing always going to Wierer) for a long while, and since nothing ever worked and she kept being pushed down, she decided to go for desperate measures in desperate times? No idea, but it would be far from surprising if she used this moment because any other moment would have much less of a potential effect.
  5. It says something that Koukalova made Wierer look like someone who never heard of makeup
  6. Ah, Koukalova. The queen of holding up podium ceremonies because her makeup wasn't 'right' yet
  7. Bees are a major part of Kenyan culture? Interesting.
  8. The Kenyans not wearing green/red/black in some form, the Croatians not wearing some sort of checkers, the Dutch not wearing orange in some form, no green/yellow/blue (or at least two of them) for Brazil, no red for Norway...now that'd be boring. Consistency is key, at least the Kenyans understood that - even with a completely different design.
  9. If true, which would be completely unsurprising, this would be such an incredibly shitty move from the coaches. It's like giving a big, fat middle finger straight in Vittozzi's face. But then again: Wierer gets them the sweet marketing money and everyone will just drool on her social media photos and think Wierer is all fantastic, not a care in the world for the coaches.
  10. Oh, there's Premier League already?
  11. Call me when skateboarders start wearing sports clothes
  12. Oh trust me, I know a thing or two about rather mediocre team atmosphere These top athletes...all we see is what they say publicly and what they do publicly. Who says she hasn't been fighting for a year, for two years, for three years even...just to get some simply equality within her team compared to everyone's oh so lovely Wierer, the perfect marketing girl for Italian biathlon? There is so much more going on than what we see publicly, it might have been bad timing by her (or on purpose maybe, if she has been trying for a long time), but I'm glad for her that apparently something that really needed to get out, got out. I'm fairly sure Wierer will take all the glory again and not Vittozzi, but I'm very much hoping Vittozzi will upset her. I've never really been specifically a fan or not, but now I'm full-on #TeamVittozzi
  13. Wait what, what did Vittozzi do wrong here? It's entirely, totally, completely unsurprising to think the coaches very much favored Wierer and did everything to make her win over Vittozzi... And how is Vittozzi and Wierer being rivals instead of friends any sort of new revelation?
  14. If only they would use it to draw attention to the worldwide bee problem, but I doubt it
  15. Yes, although there does seem to be a significantly shorter time between 'first case(s)' and 'word getting out' than was the case with SARS. Too bad we don't have a user from Wuhan here, it's rather hard to even guess the credibility of all kinds of random people on social media who might as well post the most sensationalist things just to get more and more likes ("they're burning the dead by the hundreds in Wuhan!" is a prime example these days).
  16. And holy crap this is awful.
  17. I like how the skateboarding uniforms are pretty much what I expected from a skateboarding uniform: pretty much some old pants and that one t-shirt you bought ages ago but was three sizes too big so now you only use them when doing some gardening work or something
  18. They shouldn't get a 'free pass'. They should, however, be allowed to freely compete - potentially after a certain amount in quarantaine. China messing up with Youth Olympic athletes (although them being 'youth' is of zero significance) shouldn't be a point of discussion in this issue.
  19. Because it has already spread to other countries and so saying "No, there's nothing happening" would be implausible for everyone in the world. However, making up numbers to make it seem like something is going on, but is not as bad as it actually is, is entirely possible in an authoritarian state like China or North Korea. Not saying that's what they're doing, nobody knows, but it's really not unthinkable and it wouldn't be the first time. Take SARS: it started in November, but they only mentioned something to the WHO in February and (worse) pushed down on press even reporting about it inside China.
  20. Mostly considered to be one of the (many) skaters with a chance for a medal, but 'medal favorite' is a level or two too high
  21. Let's ask @brunamoura to make a video of the start if she isn't participating in it herself
  22. I find it rather disturbing media apparently knows not only that she had a suicide attempt, but even exactly how she tried it (and decided that was a good idea to publish worldwide)...
  23. All based on his 'and I refuse to watch any of them'
  24. What on earth is that middle one for? It's in the athletics thread so I assume athletics, but I can't think of a single event where that looks good. Is it to swim in the water hurdle during the steeplechase or something?
  25. Well this competition sucked. Both Andrea Limbacher and Brittany Phelan crashed hard and injured their knees, end of season. Especially Phelan's injury seems bad, she seems to have torn pretty much everything one can tear in a knee.
