  1. Visser looking good Lavin out
  2. Harala The lesser known an athlete is, the more I hate these 1 false start = DQ's.
  3. Vloon with a first decent outdoor final, although it is going far from easy
  4. Nah, 4th is enough for now, plenty of time to fix it
  5. Williams with exactly the mark for a Q in his last attempt Clutch.
  6. He did show why the whole discussion about removing the bar and having an entire 'take-off area' is absolute bullshit: he timed his take-off to perfection, +0.1cm, which is very much a part of being a good long jumper.
  7. Had forgotten about it, but Dutch commentator just mentioned it: Steve Hooker became world champion in 2009 with literally only 3 jumps in his entire championship 5.65m in qualifying in one attempt Failed his opening height of 5.85m in the first try, skipped straight to 5.90m. Made that in one try (his third jump of the entire competition, including qualifying) and nobody beat it
  8. Seems like Clarke made it as last q. Dumber than dumb, but he'd escape then..
  9. I mean, it looked like the chance existed, other than the arguably somewhat biased Italian commentator, I'm not sure someone saw it in the way that he was actually 'on his way to gold' Dutch commentator did single him out as looking very good when there was still a group of around 20 though, sharp eye
  10. But then it would make sense to stop earlier instead of holding on in the lead group for so long you gain nothing, yet still spend so much you can not realistically still go do a fall marathon
  11. Yeah, but while certainly true, East African nations winning a majority of distance medals isn't exactly new (like Scandinavian countries are strong in cross-country skiing) I had nothing to do anyway, so, a breakdown of how many medals they won at the world championships and Olympics in the past 20 years: 2004: 14/21 (last major event without the women's steeplechase) 2005: 17/24 2007: 14/24 2008: 16/24 2009: 17/24 2011: 19/24 2012: 18/24 2013: 19/24 2015: 18/24 2016: 15/24 2017: 14/24 2019: 16/24 2020: 14/24 2022: 19/24 2023: 17/24 2024: 13/24
  12. France, Italy, Sweden.
  13. Next session starts an hour later than I expected, extra hour of sleep Goodnight
  14. Sutherland out, yay doing full college seasons before big events. Not exactly surprising..
  15. Super difficult for Zapletalova
  16. Ledecka to the semi's Despite 5 women in her heat having a faster SB this season.
  17. Bol with a 16-step in between one of the last sets of hurdles, that was unusual (and a sign of it going very, very easily...)
  18. Just looked out of the window. I'm apparently in Kosice
  19. Probably can't believe she isn't a 2.20m tall South Sudanese basketball player
  20. Good thing today is the last morning session for a few days, not sure I'd survive 8-9 consecutive nights of non-stop pessimism
  21. Not everyone is able to watch throughout the night of course, some people do actually need to work or whatever If I wasn't free tomorrow, I certainly wouldn't have been awake now. Well, almost
  22. Didn't check that, but he certainly didn't win gold, so Simbu being Tanzania's first ever world champion still stands
  23. Murto with XXX on 4.25m, damn. Just came back from surgery, but yeah, that was unfortunate.
  24. Tom Hendrikse had 2:20 as goal, finishes in 2:19.57-58
  25. Eritrean born, fled with his mother and sisters to Ethiopia when he was 2 years old (due to war), then as a teenager he fled to Germany.
