  1. Gout Gout, let's go!
  2. McTaggart escapes from a very nasty fall..
  3. Gregory is out Ciao, hopefully he learns from this.
  4. Desalu could go half a second faster if he learns, well, any technique.
  5. Interesting heat btw, this could almost be a Diamond League race.
  6. and , nice heat for the rare flag spotters.
  7. Sort of. They finally seem to separate actual false starts from tiny twitches, mostly.
  8. Of course! It is just outright dumb and carelessness, nothing else at all... If you do what Gregory did, you simply do not care about whether or not you're going to have a good championships.
  9. Wow, Makarawu looked unbelievably strong there
  10. Thank you for the entertainment, Gregory.
  11. Damn, Wegner
  12. That, absolutely. At the very least they actually get to compete internationally, unlike most North Korean athletes, but yeah...hopefully one day this changes (unlikely in the near future, but one may hope).
  13. Is Angela Tenorio just entirely gone nowadays?
  14. I have seen (and posted, I'm far from innocent) plenty of failed jokes that in hindsight were in bad taste, but don't really remember anything specific about Cuban triple jumpers Someone posting something about "Cuban podium" when Diaz Hernandez, Pichardo and Diaz take a Diamond League podium really isn't that bad Honestly it's worse when people - especially European people - complain about non-white European athletes winning or somehow not really counting or something (despite them often going for different reasons than the bags of money that leads people to Turkey, Bahrain and Qatar). But that's another point
  15. Nothing wrong in saying the triple jump is sometimes more of an Open Cuban Championships. Just like wrestling is usually the Open Dagestani Championships. Doesn't mean I'm against what the Cubans do, like many of the athletes who go to Bahrain/Qatar, they're just trying to escape a situation where despite being a potentially great athlete, they end up with nothing (in Cuba because of the shitty government system, in countries like Kenya because of shitty overall organization).
  16. A Bolivian athlete. But I'm not watching racquetball, what's going on?
  17. Jochem Uytdehaage's biggest win was a Dutch allround title and a Dutch 10k title (which very much counted, especially back then, but still, that was basically all). Then came Salt Lake City and hello double gold and double world record (12:58.92 is still firmly in my mind, 11-year old me could not believe someone had actually gone sub-13) Derek Parra had barely won anything as well before it. Got gold and silver. Gerard van Velde always missed everything, then got gold. There simply is no "certain winner", every single person who spent more than 5 hours watching sports surely knows that?
  18. Tour of Rwanda, especially in Kigali, has always been amazing, definitely looking forward to that.
  19. Yeah, everyone who has been following speed skating for a bit knew for 1-2 years already that Jilek would likely be a major contender in 2026. But that simply doesn't mean nobody else really has a chance, especially a proven (triple) champion. In the past years, Ghiotto has always shown he's there when it matters, obviously he is going to have a chance. Just like Jilek, Semirunniy, Roest, Eitrem and who knows what we're going to see in the next few months. Declaring a world champion and world record holder (which he did this year, come on) as having no chance when the season hasn't even nearly started yet...nah man, I don't know what juice you're drinking, but better put it back in the fridge for a bit buddy
  20. I mean, no offense, but thinking Ghiotto has 0% chance for gold is ridiculous. Surely, truly you do not believe Jilek can impossibly be beaten and there is absolutely zero chance of anyone else winning the gold? Please tell me you have some sanity
  21. Sigh. What's with some people somehow thinking someone either has a 100% or 0% chance of success
  22. Wow. Amazing lap times too! I mean, quite literally everyone saw a record coming from Jilek, one of the biggest talents of the past few decades and that was entirely clear for everyone, but doing it like this already in September....super impressive
  23. Curious why Henderson decides to skip the road race. I mean, she is there.
  24. Not literally sponsored, but it does exist for the sole purpose of 'making Israel look better' (as per the highly controversial owner/boss, those are his words, "every time our team does well, commentators mention Israel in a positive light and that is what this is all about"). For what it's worth, I'm also not a fan of the sheikh teams that exist for the same reasons (to sportswash certain countries), btw. And also, this seems unnecessary to add but nowadays it's always better to explicitly state it: obviously the whole violent part of the protests is very much wrong, not to even mention the idiots pulling riders off of their bikes or running into the peloton. Many, many people were standing along the roads and climbs holding a Palestinian flag (but meanwhile just clapping for riders, standing there, and most certainly not doing anything dangerous), that is totally fine, but attacking anyone...nope, they should have had some rough encounters with the Guardia Civil.
  25. Silver three years ago and double world indoor champion Apparently also the winner at Tokyo 2025, according to Wikipedia, but I kind of doubt that as of now.
