  1. In that case, that is actually a very impressive feat for a small place like Bahrain! Not like Qatar, when they bought half the handball world a few years ago (?), what Bahrain does seems genuinely good.
  2. Yes, I am aware of that, but the thing is that 90% of the streams don't have that option where one usually chooses the audio feed. A very small amount of streams do, where you can indeed choose for the ambient sound or English or whatever, but a very large majority doesn't have that option, meaning there is no commentary available. And that's not good at all.
  3. But surely things like heats in swimming or rowing shouldn't be too hard to find someone for? When not watching live, it feels like watching the European short course championships morning heats or something... Hopefully those were all part of the technical nightmare and tomorrow they will start to be up to par with what they actually have to offer.
  4. I've definitely gotten used to Eurosport Player's offer, and in terms of watching what I want to watch, it's absolutely working perfectly. Basically everything is available and very easy to find (browser and Android app). The only thing is that at least 95% of the streams I've watched today are without any sort of commentary, in any language. Weightlifting had an English duo and so does taekwondo, but that's about it. Of course Eurosport 1 and 2 has commentators since it's on TV, but that's not the main point. Having all those streams without commentators is such a major letdown. You've got dozens of millions to spend on rights, but nothing for a few generic commentators?
  5. Zonderland was doubting right after the competition, but has made up his mind now: he is calling it a career and won't compete in the world championships, so that's that. He will definitely go down in Dutch sports history as one of the greats
  6. Oh damn, they were all serious contenders? I didn't count Zonderland as such because of his past year, I had Deurloo significantly higher in mind than him Sad for Uchimura by the way, basically the king of the sport for so long, but now the Olympics in his home country are just too late...
  7. Did any big medal contender end up missing out? Quick look suggests not really, but as someone who doesn't often follow it, it's hard to differentiate between all the Russians and Chinese and such of whom I'm not sure if they're good on rings or floor or parallel bars etc
  8. Brazil getting level with a lucky penalty* and going ahead with a Christmas gift as a goal
  9. Out of curiousity: why do most of these pistol shooters have their non-shooting hand in the pocket of their sweatpants as if they're waiting for their buddy at the corner of the street? I'm assuming it's a balance thing?
  10. Krasniqi upsets Japan in Japan! With 'upsets' being relative in this case, of course, since it's not like she wasn't a favourite to begin with.
  11. Other than being frustrated about the general fitness of his body nowadays, Zonderland was mostly sort of happy that he finally at least managed to get through a full routine without a fall or major incidents again in the end of his career (he hadn't been able to do today's routine since March, not even in training), and he was happy Deurloo's routine should be enough. Zonderland said he might compete once more in two months (world champs, I assume?), but that's about it. Really a star in Dutch sports history, both in terms of results and general attitude.
  12. Cool to see Zonderland did fantastic and seems to be a medal favourite. At least, that's judging by Dutch NOS showing his high bar routine at least 6 times so far throughout the day and mostly ignoring Deurloo (because 'we' don't know Deurloo, and we all know Epke, so yeah). Weirdly, the actual results seem to say something different
  13. Dutch commentator, who was on the same regular KLM flight as the other Dutch cases, tested positive and went to the quarantaine hotel. Sucks for him, but at least no athlete, the bigger issue is that it's yet another one from this flight..
  14. That's what I thought and then I started watching taekwondo and judo (won't mention results here, obviously) and suddenly it was a half hour later
  15. Sensational win by Carapaz, rarely have I seen a more deserved winner in a major road race Too bad McNulty's legs just completely exploded in the last few kilometers, he really would have deserved the silver. Great job by both of them to keep riding without playing games, otherwise the rest would have caught them for sure.
  16. These guys did what they had to do on this climb, get rid of Van Aert. Van Aert Mollema Gaudu Fuglsang (as far as he had any shape anyway)
  17. Kwiatkowski, Uran, Carapaz and Bettiol eating from Van Aert's plate
  18. Roglic as sort of expected not nearly strong enough, too bad.
