  1. They can probably add an 8th and 9th place in +75kg to that, so I think they're going to end up just short of a quota.
  2. Never mind, it magically came back immediately after my post Weird stuff going on
  3. What happened to the list of threads with recent posts? Last week I saw that on the mobile site as well, now it's gone.
  4. The article says a lot of German XC skiers had a shooting training in 2012, when it wasn't looking good for German biathlon after Neuner's retirement. Herrmann says "it didn't go that bad actually". She also says she knows it's a surprising time to make the change, but she has been thinking about it for a while now. Indeed, Aymonier wasn't exactly consistent, but she did show that she has the talent to fight for top-20 in the World Cup standings if she manages to get consistent. I think Herrmann can do the same if she manages to get her shooting under control. In any way, I'll be paying very close attention to the first IBU Cups to see how she's doing in shooting...her skiing speed is beyond major doubt I think. Apart from that it seems that the main issue for the change is motivation. If she just isn't motivated anymore to do only XC, it would be useless to keep trying it. Sure, her Olympic chances would be way better of course, but don't underestimate how hard it is to be focused almost every day of the year on training and being fit...then imagine you're doing that for a sport you're just not so motivated for anymore (XC). If biathlon feels like a new and fun challenge for her, she should do it
  5. The good thing is Celia Aymonier made quite a good impression in her first season of biathlon. I'm not expecting Herrmann to reach 90% shooting of course, but if she can for starters get it up to a consistent 75-80% in her first season, good things might be possible for her.
  6. The only right decision.
  7. Is just he out or does the same go for Baillie?
  8. Same question for this: any news on the current situation here?
  9. Slalom canoeing: Do we already know which Germans will be in Rio, so whether or not Tasiadis/Aigner will be there or not? Track cycling: Same question about Förstemann and Levy. I know the German team sprint of course qualified, but how about these specific athletes? Equestrian: Is Langehangenberg being out something official yet and if so, is it because she is performing "bad" nowadays or is she retired or something? Asking because if she is retired, I won't put her in the list, but if she is simply performing at a too low level, I will.
  10. Any news on Oldershaw/Van Koeverden/Giriard yet? I mean, anything official?
  11. I noticed it as well.. To be fair, it's only a matter of UAE being smart and the other nations being, well, stupid. UAE are very careful in reading the rules, and we can only blame the other nations for not doing so.
  12. With me going first: does anybody know where there is a timetable for all sports? I am 100% sure that maybe a half year ago there was the official ticketing website which had daily timetables (so timetables, not just a general competition schedule), but that's nowhere to be found anymore.
  13. I was quite amazed to see there is no "general thread" about the Rio Olympics yet... I mean, not every bit of news or not every question fits in one of the other threads, so why not put all those kind of things in here?
  14. Elyane Boal of Cape Verde, the girl who received the quota place, turned 18 yesterday. What a birthday she must have had
  15. Try reading from here: Maybe you have to contact Sindo, because you not being able to give reputation should come from you being premium member (the premium member group wasn't allowed to give reputation yet), but Sindo said he fixed that and for me it worked. I thought that would work for everyone now then
  16. Succesful German cross-country skier Denise Herrmann will change from XC to biathlon, starting the training for biathlon next week http://www.sueddeutsche.de/news/sport/biathlon-langlaeuferin-denise-herrmann-wechselt-zum-biathlon-dpa.urn-newsml-dpa-com-20090101-160426-99-733998 I really wonder how smart of a move that is, so short before the Olympics. In XC there's basically no doubt she'd be in the German Olympic team, but in biathlon she'll have incredibly much more competition to beat. On the other hand, of course she should choose what she prefers...if she's "done" with XC, there's no use in "forcing" her to keep doing that.
  17. Is that confirmed/official? Because if so, it would mark their debut in gymnastics
  18. Thanks! Yes it's such a shame Eric Pang got injured since his great performance at the world championships last year...otherwise he might have had a serious shot at qualifying.
  19. Yes please
  20. The Flanders sports authorities answered my e-mail a while ago saying they aren't sure about it. Some days ago WTF announced the quotas (it's somewhere in the taekwondo thread) and they still had her as regufee athlete. This whole thing is being a huge discussion already for a couple of months now and most people, including me and I guess you, are hoping she will compete as refugee athlete. Because indeed, if she competes as Belgian, Belgium would have had 2 athletes in her weight class and that would just be wrong/illegal/unfair.
