  1. I have Yates as my 'reserve loser' in a game In this game the 'loser' is one cyclist you select, who is expected to do good by the big public, but who you expect to not do good. The better the cyclist you choose as 'loser' is, the more you can win if he actually performs bad. I choose Bob Jungels, who together with Yates (and maybe Formolo) is someone everyone is expecting to really fight for top-5 positions but I seriously doubt they'll even finish in the top-15
  2. My favourites for the win/podium: Quintana, Pinot, Nibali My opinion about the Dutch: Dumoulin is not a GC rider, I've said it before and I haven't changed my opinion. Kruijswijk was the best in the Giro last year but I doubt he'll beat Quintana. Good hopes for a podium though. Mollema probably has one day where he loses some minutes and his podium chance. As for the sprints: Gaviria vs Ewan vs Greipel, with possibly Modolo, Bennett and some 5th line sprinters trying out something as well. Possibly Nizzolo, depending on whether or not he's starting to warm up after only racing for less than a week this year.
  3. I guess it's too late to kick Bardiani out and give Androni the wildcard they deserve
  4. A half hour ago they were still on the podium for the team presentation
  5. Stefano Pirazzi and Nicola Ruffoni (Bardiani's attacker/climber and their sprinter) both tested positive for doping http://www.gazzetta.it/Giroditalia//04-05-2017/giro-100-italia-doping-positivi-due-italiani-bardiani-20066282442.shtml
  6. The owners of a bar in Bormio have a special prize for stage 16, which goes over the mythical Mortirolo and Stelvio with the finish in Bormio....the heaviest rider to finish the stage gets 100 bottles of beer Tom Stamsnijder (NED, Sunweb) is the main favourite, being well over 80kg, followed by Rüdiger Selig (GER, Bora) who is apparently 80kg
  7. I hope so, like most boxing fans I guess (nothing against Pulev, but I doubt most neutral boxing fans would care much for Joshua vs Pulev instead of Joshua vs Wilder/Fury/Parker) I hope Fury because it'd be awesome if Joshua could punch the living daylight out of that idiot, whereas I hope Wilder because then Wilder would get some real opposition
  8. Men's Road Cycling UCI Giro d'Italia 2017 Various Cities (ITA) - 5 May 2017 - 28 May 2017 Totallympics Results Thread
  9. I hope you're right and I hope the Giro organizers won't have to name a climb after a cyclist again next year like they do this year (with the Mortirolo becoming the 'Scarponi climb').
  10. Possibly, but what about the dozens of riders who won't get any TV time or prize money or something and who basically ride around to give their leaders a drink now and then and finish around a 152th place? This could be an incentive for them to go for a prize, small as it may be, resulting in possible downhill battles that don't need to be motivated like this. It's dangerous enough.

  12. Yet you still participate Which I hope won't change, by the way. If this contest was about which users you like or think are fun or enthousiastic or something, I'd have given you more points It would be pretty strange to give points for that though.
  13. Yes, it's the big news of the cycling world in the last days, most cyclists have already expressed their concern and anger. It's the Premio Miglior Discesista, where they choose 10 stages with a 'descending segment', and the rider who is the fastest on that segment gets the points.
  14. How did she win a medal by winning only one fight? Did the rest go home or something?
  15. Yep, a crash in a descent. Followed by the Giro d'Italia organizers announcing a new 'best descender' classification. Have they lost their fucking minds? Are they blind? Idiotic? Retarded maybe?
  16. And he's not even the only one this week. 2014 Namibian champion Raul Costa Seibeb (25) was killed in a car accident.
  17. It would indeed be better to just put an asterisk behind a lot of records, especially those insane East German, Soviet and Chinese 'Ma's Turtle Blood Army' records, instead of deleting them.
  18. I think it's safe to say 30+ can be considered old then
  19. I'm with our Bulgarian friend here and am right in the big 2 and 6
  20. Yep, but it's like Nigeria or Kenya: treat your athletes like shit and you can definitely not blame them if they go somewhere else. I remember a story of Julius Yego about how some athletes had to leave the plane and wait a day for the next flight, because some federation officials really wanted to get on the flight 'right now'. No wonder a lot of them just say 'fuck this, I'm going to another country where I'm treated normal and even get a lot of money'. I'd do the exact same thing if I was an athlete and treated like that by my own federation.
  21. It reminds me of the alpine skiing suits the Germans had a decent number of years ago when I started watching alpine skiing on Eurosport, I always fell in love with their suites Like these: I don't even know exactly why but 10-11 year old me loved these suits so much and I still feel all nostalgic when I see it even without knowing exactly how or why It makes me 100% sure though that alpine skiing was the first winter sport besides speed skating I sort of regularly watched on TV when I was alone at home or when it was my turn to watch TV
  22. Thank you Cuba for being a miserable hellhole people want to run away from. My favourite triple jumper Pedro Pablo Pichardo also ran away from Cuba and has now signed with Benfica in Portugal, I wonder if that's the country he'll represent. Again, thank you Cuba for being a miserable hellhole people want to run away from.
  23. That's a solid worldwide top-40 for women's youth...not bad considering most others in the youth category are 3-4 years older
  24. Well I remember the first odds for Beigi to win gold were around 40 (!) and they later dropped to 15, which still seemed incredibly high after all I had heard about him hear, so I have no regrets about the bet I hope for 2020 another 'unkown' athlete is really strong and bookmakers forget about him again
