  1. Thanks to today's Giro stage I learned about mass rape by Moroccan/French soldiers of civilians around Montecassino, I learned about huge Polish losses there (first time I heard about a significant Polish presence in any battle, so that's cool) and some other wartime stuff. Not a good one, but definitely an interesting history around today's stage.
  2. heywoodu 1. Jos van Emden (35) - 35 2. Elia Viviani (2) - 37 3. Pascal Ackermann (3) - 40 4. Enrico Battaglin (44) - 84 5. Caleb Ewan (4) - 88 6. Diego Ulissi
  3. I wonder if this is about people being mad at Daenerys' 'turn' even though that was rather visible and to be expected for years now.
  4. Watched that 5th episode yesterday...
  5. It's rather annoying to hear (and yes, just to be sure: Dumoulin not getting the same time as the rest is 100% normal, it'd be stupid if he was saved the way Van Garderen has been saved)
  6. Hahaha they gave everyone the same time after Van Garderen's fall so he wouldn't lose time after all Which would be fine and, more importantly, according to the rules if it was within the last 3km, but it wasn't.
  7. Americans who are promising when they're young are generally disappointing in the end
  8. Pretty sure there will be people appreciating if you put this in a spoiler (and mention there's a GoT spoiler ahead) It's not the movies & series thread..
  9. More of a usual sprint for Sagan this year The best sprinter in this year's ToC (looking at this year) won the stage. Also a very impressive win for Remi Cavagna the day before, and a great ride for young American Alex Hoehn.
  10. That whole Iran situation is so sad Iranians not allowed to compete in GBR this time because stupid politics, Kosovo's athletes not allowed to compete in Spain earlier because stupid politics, Israeli athletes not allowed to compete in several countries before because things. The world sucks.
  11. She is apparently competing with the Dutch team, or at least mentioned in one of the rare articles about this together with the other Dutch athletes, but no idea why she's not officially competing for the Netherlands now.
  12. F1 coming back to Zandvoort after 35 years, Netherlands winning Eurovision after 45 years (can't go wrong obviously), what a week!
  13. But still he's thrown out. Much like Dutch Eurosport kicked out former pro Danny Nelissen as commentator (too bad) because of a doping past....and then hired Michael Boogerd after his confession
  14. Ackermann again Not that surprising to see him be among the very best this Giro, but still cool to see a new name on the front.
  15. Very, very wet sprint incoming
  16. Too bad they couldn't find a more fitting replacement. You know, like Riccardo Ricco
  17. Apparently Petacchi was thrown out of RAI ( @Gianlu33?) because of his Erfurt doping case involvement.......and replaced by Stefano Garzelli?
  18. Exactly. One driver absolutely dominating (although now it's two, but yeah still one team) and the podium being reserved for the best two or possibly three teams, with a rare exception. I still find it a miracle I kept watching after those insanely boring Schumacher years, probably the most boring seasons I've ever seen. But sure, everyone has their own opinions about eras and every era has it's good and it's bad sides.
  19. heywoodu 1. Jos van Emden (35) - 35 2. Elia Viviani (2) - 37 3. Pascal Ackermann (3) - 40 4. Enrico Battaglin (44) - 84 5. Caleb Ewan
  20. All of whom in the past have been at Slovenian Perutnina Ptuj, which already had three dopers back in the day. Interesting team
  21. I honestly can't understand how people see San Marino as bad in this semi filled with boring songs without any soul No, not a superb song, but easily in the top-10 of this group. Plus Turkish diaspora maybe?
  22. I only see that one on Eurosport
  23. Pretty much according to what the bookmakers thought, with San Marino qualifying being the main surprise, followed by Hungary and Portugal not qualifying. The rest was pretty much as expected
  24. SAN MARINOOOOOOOOO
  25. Great, the hosts had 10 cents worth of confetti laying around somewhere so we got this.
