  1. Conditional alert: Vingegaard might have injured his back. https://www.leparisien.fr/sports/cyclisme/tour-de-france-blesse-jonas-vingegaard-souffre-du-dos-12-07-2022-ACTLSUISU5DBLHNK62F7RKQYL4.php#xtor=AD-1481423553
  2. Watching some Roller Hockey.... It's really the poor, slow, boring cousin of ice hockey. What can we do to bring back the only hockey on skates worth anyone's time aka rink hockey ?
  3. Might by on a country basis. Here, one channel brought the rights and thus everything is geoblocked. Funny enough, that channel doesn't seem to have a single minute of the Games on its schedule...
  4. There are some words better not to be used when it comes to cycling
  5. You have your answer then I've seen a suggestion to have this kind of race during the last week when a lot less people are interested in the GC. But, obviously having a MJ crashing and leaving the race two days before Paris is not going to be a popular option neither. Generally speaking, there are too many riders interested in the GC and too many riders just here to help them. Which led to too much nervosity and too many crashes (cobbles or not). I don't know if there is a solution to this.
  6. The chinese male team is set to play into the ... french pro league. The team would be based somewhere in France, could not be relegated and couldn't either won the championship (but would still participate in the playoff). Obviously money is involved : 1.3M€ per season https://www.lequipe.fr/Volley-ball/Article/Chine-peut-integrer-la-ligue-a-des-cet-automne-a-condition-de-payer/1342309
  7. You've pretty much named all the big guys there ! They all have worked for France TV for decades, but they are all retired now Montel was the last one standing but had to go after he made some not very political correct comments on doping and athletics.
  8. The famous women 4*400m in Zurich with french commentary yelling. At 0.43, you'll hear two "alors peut-être" (~ "but maybe") which has now turned into a proper meme on the french internetz announcing a very unlikely outcome, but still possible.
  9. Sport facilites in the US are really something else. There are only 200K habitants in Birmingham (metro 1.1M), yet they have two stadiums (47 & 71K), multiple indoor arenas (up to 18K), 3 baseball stadiums (each around 10K), an ice rink, a racetrack, a soccer stadium, an indoor athletics venue, etc.
  10. The modest french delegation : https://www.athle.fr/asp.net/main.html/html.aspx?htmlid=6385 Only potential semi finalists were selected, wich counts for only 7 female athletes in individual events and 21 males. No much expectations there. I guess 1 or 2 medals is what to be hoped for (Kevin Mayer, the hurdlers, maybe the 800m guys, a miracle on the pole vault...). TBH, It could also easely be a zero medal championships for us, witch only happen twice in 1983 and 1993. The future looks brighter though with recent record youth championships, but Paris 2024 is likely to be too soon for most of them.
  11. Do you really want to see a 3 rounds tournament ? Besides, you would need the Unions to sign for it. And really, that's not going to happen. Summer tours are very important for the economy of the southern rugby nations, they are not going to willingly cancel them. You'll end up with a 3 rounds tournament filled with with C-team players or youngsters. Even if it was possible, that's a pass from me. Also, World Rugby is very much into seven as a way to publicize rugby around the world. Let it go.
  12. Not really. Marginally perhaps. Basically, I believe in three things when it comes to the olympic program : - The so called gender equity policy screwed it, switching more competitive events for lesser competitive ones. - Practicability should not be the main reason why events are olympic or not. Sports/disciplines/events should first and foremost deserve their sport due to their competitive strengths - As far as possible, the number of each sport medals should be correlate to its relative importance. That's why I believe swimming should drop many events or why I'm ok with mixed events in sports with only a couple of events (like triathlon pe).
  13. So about that Bahrain's affair (last paragraph) https://rmcsport.bfmtv.com/cyclisme/tour-de-france/tour-de-france-des-medicaments-indetermines-saisis-chez-bahrein-victorious-avant-le-depart_AV-202206300788.html Contrary to some twitter talks, the case was not started after some Antoine Vayer shitposting on the internet , but because multiple hotels managers heard during the last TDF noises of home trainers used at night in Bahrain rooms. Physical activities during the night will remind us of the heydays of EPO doping when it was used basically for the riders not to drop dead
  14. Common sense finally prevailing : Covid-positive riders will not necessarily have to leave the race. https://www.ouest-france.fr/tour-de-france/tour-de-france-2022-les-coureurs-positifs-au-covid-ne-seront-pas-forcement-mis-hors-course-c1f4d750-f6f0-11ec-8d9e-ebb0bb3f5c46
  15. When you think it's sarcasm, but actually it isn't.
  16. 6 medals for so far which is already one more than 2017, 2019 and 2020(1) combined.
  17. A bullshit excuse that happens to be true ? https://www.lequipe.fr/Escrime/Article/Daniel-jerent-a-obtenu-les-preuves-que-son-controle-positif-au-dorzolamide-etait-involontaire/1327851 French fencer Daniel Jérent who was provisionnary banned before Tokyo and who claimed his positive result was due to a blood transfusion he had at the hospital after a car crash was actually right.
  18. Chloé Chevalier (26 yo) not sure if she will keep racing next year
