  1. Both Denise Herrmann and Justine Braisaz with an individual gold. Absolutely no one could have see that coming
  2. Earth-Shattering news that deserves this thread to be raised again: South Africa to remplace Italy in the Six Nations starting in 2025 ? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/rugbyunion/article-10520605/Rugby-South-Africa-set-join-Six-Nations-2025-Italy-facing-boot.html
  3. The snowboarder Cecile Hernandez will compete in Beijing. Long story short, due to lack of competition, her category has been canceled. She then asked to compete with lesser disabled athletes which was first denied by IPC. Just like the Brenna Huckaby before her, she had to go to court in Germany to be allowed in. It's worth nothing that the federation asked the german court for the poor girl no to be allowed in, because "it would reduce the odds of canadian medals in that event" . Seriously... https://www.lequipe.fr/Snowboard/Article/Victoire-juridique-pour-cecile-hernandez-autorisee-a-participer-aux-jeux-paralympiques-de-pekin/1317984
  4. Le mieux est l'ennemi du bien. Actually, it's quite common for countries with the biggest player base in a sport not to be as dominant as expected. The more players you have, the worst your ressources will be spent. Obv, with such an adantage, Canada should do much better anyway.
  5. It kinda kills her happiness on the moment. Bottom line, the world of sport should start considering the athletes less badly...
  6. A nice suggestion I just heard: having a race review only if one of the racers ask for it.
  7. Short track judges were out of job since yesterday, and went to the ski cross races today. Only explanation I have
  8. That was my point. Maybe I didn't pay enough attention before that, but this is new to me. I've watched it on eurosport.fr with Sandrine Bailly doing the commentating, and you could hear how furious she was about that shooting, even if she didn't say much...
  9. I used to think of Anais Chevalier as the most reliable French female biathlete. Well... Her prone shooting was akin to a professional fault really: she shooted her last bullet way too quickly without much focus, missed it and went to the penalty loop. Then, it was game over for the French team. It did feel like a truly lack of commitment. That's unacceptable in a an (Olympic) relay. Honestly, other girls should rightfully be pissed about her performance.
  10. No I'd have liked QFM in 3rd and Jacquelin in 4th. aka the suicide squad, but also the only one who could fight with Norway for gold. With this team,we're maximizing our medals chances, not so much our gold medal chance. Which is is OK anyway.
  11. The usual french team for tomorow's race in the usual order. Once again, we"re playing it safe, betting only on a norwegian meltdown.
  12. A new savoy bid for 2030 was raised this autumn by the region's head. No news since, likely DOA https://www.lequipe.fr/Tous-sports/Actualites/La-region-auvergne-rhone-alpes-et-la-savoie-reflechissent-a-une-candidature-aux-jeux-olympiques-d-hiver-2030/1295342 The Southern Alpes (Nice) also show some interest, but only from 2034. https://www.lefigaro.fr/sports/jeux-olympiques/les-alpes-du-sud-interessees-par-les-jo-d-hiver-en-2034-ou-2038-20220120
  13. There won't be any NTL at Cortina. FIL allready confirmed that they will only propose the introduction of wommen double in 2026. https://www.fil-luge.org/en/news/fil-executive-board-applies-with-women-s-doubles-as-new-olympic-event-for-the-olympic-winter-games-milano-cortina-2026
  14. Actually, MF never won more than 3 medals in a single Olympics . And, if what I've heard is correct, he is the first French athlete (summer or winter) to do so
  15. At pyeongchang, we went from 23.5 medals at the WCs (on average across every olympic events) to 15 at the real thing. We also underperformed last year, and it seems, it will be again the case this time...
  16. Ah ah. J'ai eu l'espoir à un moment donné que l'on passe pour une fois de bons jeux (voire mieux) où les satisfactions l'emporteraient sur les déceptions. Confondant de naiveté...
  17. I 'd say it's more comparable to the Netherlands in speed skating. More infrastructures and more money than anybody else by a long margin.
  18. Just for the sake of it (I know, the schedules are different), the medals table from Pyeongchang after Day 5 China & Italy (+4), Slovenia (+5) and Austria & Russia (+6) are the biggest winners so far. Edit: I forgot Sweden (+4 also)
  19. Is there any good reason why this sport doesn't have at least a second jump run for a bit of equity ?
  20. If you are into old sport newspapers and can go through a bit of french, I'll recommand you check Gallica website, specialy these section https://gallica.bnf.fr/html/und/presse-et-revues/presse-sportive?mode=desktop There is also a ton of old photos to search for
