WORLDS DAY FIVE ROUNDUP: EGYPTIANS MAKE HISTORY Egypt has become the first nation in the entire 40-year history of the iconic PSA Men’s World Championship to have six players in the quarter-final stage after Ramy Ashour, Fares Dessouky and Tarek Momen all won to bring the third round action to a close at the Wadi Degla Club in Cairo. Coming just a day after Egyptian trio Mohamed ElShorbagy, Karim Abdel Gawad and Ali Farag booked their quarter-final berths, Ashour led the charge as he dispatched England’s Daryl Selby by an 11-6, 8-11, 11-5, 11-6 margin. “I think after the first game I wanted to win and that was a mistake,” said Ashour. “I should just stick to playing. I got excited and then got hard on myself. Then the second game went well, but he started pushing me into all four corners and I wasn’t really playing like I was in the first game. “He really pushed me, he really tested my movement big time. 2 things ignored me in this WCH , 1st playing each event in only 1 hour , not allowing players to take rest , although we can have only 3 events per day like what we see in taekwondo for example , 2nd playing half of national anthems for gold medalists , tv broadcasting wasn't good enough for me , in many situations i couldn't decide who deserve the point because of tv broadcasting

5 medals for Egypt with only one gold , not the result i was looking for after 3 golds last wch , but still not a bad result too , hopefully we can get those 5 medals in Tokyo 2020 , the best thing for Egyptian participation is that Giana Farouk continued her winning rhythm in world championships after winning youth , junior and U23 WCH , now she's 2-time senior world champion and she can looks for more in the next tournaments , Sara Sayed reaching women's kata final was a big surprise for me , she wasn't supposed to play this wch , as she replaced the injured Aya Ismael just few days before wch , Omar Abdelrahman was another surprise in men's -75kg
