  1. SPANISH ENTRY La Oreja de Van Gogh - 20 de Enero Lyrics (Spanish): Lyrics (English): La Oreja de Van Gogh is the most succesful Spanish pop-rock band. They started playing together in 1996 and they are still active today, although the female singer was replaced in 2007 (Leire Martínez replaced Amaia Montero, who decided to leave the band). The song that I have chosen to represent Spain this year was the second single of their second album, "Lo que te conté mientras te hacías la dormida", released in 2003. It isn't the most popular song of LODVG at all, but at that time it was a big success for being one of the first Spanish songs with an animated videoclip. It's also a very different style compared to the greatest hits of the band (Jueves, Rosas or La Playa), so I recommend you to check out these songs if you are interested in knowing the musical taste of Spain in the early 2000s. I hope you enjoy it!
  2. is in. I have already decided the artist, but I'm not sure which song I will send.
  3. We haven't opened a specific thread yet, but Madrid has announced today that the city will bid (again) for the 2036 Summer Olympics.
  4. Congratulations @Dnl! I'm sure you will be a great host.
  5. In Spain male Rhytmic Gymnastics is already developed. There are national championships with a lot of participants since a few years ago.
  6. Yes, that number is only considering 4 TV channels: La 1 and TDP (public TV) as well as Eurosport 1 and 2. They didn't include the streaming platforms of both companies, which probably will increase the ratings a little bit more. For example, in TV the most watched event has been the football final, but in RTVE Play (public streaming platform) the climbing final has broken all the records.
  7. Only 66.3% of the Spanish population (30M) watched the Olympics. It is the smallest share since we started collecting TV data in Barcelona 92. The record goes back to Sidney 2000 with 93.3% of the population watching at least one event.
  8. We won today against by 5-2 and will face in the next round.
  9. This reminded me that in taekwondo there is a girl from Taipei called Su-Po-Ya which means "His Dick" in Spanish.
  10. We don't have a single safe gold medal, but we do have three relatively safe medals: Sandra Sánchez - Karate (Kata) -> Gold (but it could be silver considering that her main rival is from ) Damián Quintero - Karate (Kata) -> Silver or bronze ( gold is clear and then or for the silver) K4 500 - Canoeing -> We should fight against Germany for the gold medal
  11. Making it better doesn't mean that they can take the gold medal in a sport with judges.
  12. 1 - Artistic Swimming - Russia (team) 2 - Artistic Swimming - Russia (duet) 3 - Table Tennis - China (Team M) 4 - Table Tennis - China (Team W) 5 - Rhythmic Gymnastics - Russia (group)
  13. You can rule us out of the equation for the medals. The federation decided to change the duet this season to start preparing two young girls for 2024, so they will be happy with a final. Russia and China are a lock and the only "interesting" fight is going to be Ukraine or Japan for the bronze.
  14. This is probably the last time in a very long time that Spain is going to be a medal contender in men's basketball, so hopefully, this amazing generation led by Pau Gasol can win the 4th Olympic medal in a row.
  15. Congrats Italy! Totally deserved.
  16. Athletics - 7 Gymnastics (Rhytmic) - 1 Golf - 1 Sailing - 3 Judo - 5 Canoeing (sprint) - 2 Canoeing (slalom) - 4 Basketball - 12 Cycling (road) - 5 Cycling (MTB) - 1 Archery - 1 Table Tennis - 3 (+1 reserve) Climbing - 2 Swimming - 3 Swimming (Open Water) - 1 Shooting - 1 Taekwondo - 1 Total: 53 (+1 reserve)
  17. I think the list isn't complete. They aren't including the basketball team
  18. They rejected the swimming quotas because they considered that their level was very low. They will only send 2 athletes (Mònica Doria in canoeing and Pol Moya in athletics). http://www.coa.ad/delegacio-andorrana-pels-proxims-jocs-olimpics-de-toquio-2020/
  19. The list will be released on Monday, but technically they have already sent it to the IOC.
  20. Great victory of against in Paris, 87-79. Ricky Rubio MVP of the game with 23 points. Pau Gasol and Alex Abrines didn't travel to France due to some small injuries, but they are expected to join the team again in the last friendly game before the Olympics against next Sunday.
  21. Kind of. Each source gives a different number depending on how they count the reserves, but if you use the basic quotas for team sports, then 321 is the right number. CSD gave 326 athletes in their list because they considered bigger teams in waterpolo and things like that: https://www.csd.gob.es/es/alta-competicion/clasificacion-olimpica-tokio-2020
  22. The first Spanish athletes (canoeing slalom team) arrived on July 3 Our sailing team arrived yesterday and most of our athletes will arrive on July 15 and 17, except the football team, because they will play a friendly match against Japan next Saturday, so they will arrive on July 13.
  23. Spain - 321 (2 Archery - 8 Artistic Swimming - 55 Athletics - 2 Badminton - 24 Basketball - 4 Beach Volley - 4 Boxing - 4 Canoeing Slalom - 11 Canoeing Sprint - 3 Cycling Mountain Bike - 7 Cycling Road - 2 Cycling Track - 2 Diving - 5 Equestrian - 1 Fencing - 18 Football - 4 Golf - 9 Gymnastics Artistic - 28 Handball - 32 Hockey - 7 Judo - 2 Karate - 1 Modern Pentathlon - 6 Rowing - 15 Sailing - 2 Shooting - 3 Skateboarding - 1 Sport Climbing - 10 Swimming - 2 Swimming Marathon - 3 Table Tennis - 4 Taekwondo - 8 Tennis - 5 Triathlon - 24 Water Polo - 4 Weighlifting) + 18 reserves (4 football, 2 waterpolo, 6 hockey, 2 handball, 1 equestrian, 1 artistic swimming, 2 athletics) Wikipedia and some Spanish media are including 12 reserves (4 football, 2 waterpolo, 4 hockey and 2 handball) in the main team, considering that they can play during the tournament even if no player has an injury during the Olympics. That's the reason why they are saying 333 instead of 321.
  24. For me Italy and Azerbaijan are the 2 most likely to do it. Also Germany and Turkey have good chances. Probably you are also considering France as an outsider (but imo they aren't favorites in both wrestling and taekwondo, so I guess that they will fail in at least one).
