[PREDICTION CONTESTS] Discussion Thread

Announcement There will be Women's Ice Hockey IIHF World Championship 2016 Prediction Contest - but it will be a test contest, unofficial one with no points to earn for General Standings. Two main reasons are behind this decision: 1. My absence in recent days (not my fault, I didn't have access to the forum for days) and very few remaining days until the start of the championship 2. To test the software and check whether the format I am going to use is manageable under new conditions. Also, all of you can leave feedback what can be changed for the next one so we can be prepared for the main part of the year. -

It is there, just it is hidden for you only. Joking, of course. I didn't have access to the forum until five minutes ago. Not my fault. If you think three days are enough, I can open the contest in next few hours. If not, we'll cancel it. -

Using spoiler is optional Oh yes, we will use "hide" option as before. Spoiler is optional if some of users want to put own predictions into spoiler. I mean, I can do that by myself when I reveal predictions, but if participants do it I'll spare some time. -
Right, let's hope there is at least one clean athlete from Eastern Europe So if I am not fan of Serena, just to give an example, I should be afraid is she clean and not on some drugs? I mean, she has muscles some men would be envy on. It is one thing not to be fan of someone and the other thing immediately suspecting something that serious.
-
Why is that strange? She'd done that before. And this season so far she plays well, not her best, but close enough to be in top 10.
-
Novak is now tied with Guillermo Vilas - both with 62 titles, 9th in the Open era
-
What? Are there some real signs, or only speculations? I mean, Roberta is doing really well Daniela and Fran can retire though, but the rest... And unfortunately yes, there are no real stars to replace them. I wonder when this situation in WTA will end...

Who does these days... Even Federer becomes all nervous and loses head.

Welcome to "Discuz-Free" Totallympics Prediction Contests Era! Unfortunately we weren't able to organize Biathlon World Championships prediction contest cause of well-known reason. Within next 24-hours, we shall start with Women's Ice Hockey World Championship according to our calendar. Format remains the same, rules as well. It is also left to each user to decide whether he or she wants to put own predictions in spoiler. I recommend that because it will be much easier to open and go through pages when we are facing massive tables. -
Vichkaaaaa Almost choked, but title is here Welcome back to top 10

Would love to see Rublev-Tiafoe match in Irving, but Foe isn't doing well at the moment... Onto Nadal-Nishikori treat
-
What a week for Shapovalov! First challenger in career and already semifinal! Evans will be huge hurdle to pass, but this is great result so far.
-
Haven't been into football lately, but it is unusual to see no Italian club in quarterfinal stage, either Champions League or Europa League...
-
I still cannot get over that volley So, so close... But nevertheless, amazing match between Nadal and Zverev. Zverev is really good, and I hope he'll learn from this match. Has to be mentally tougher. Game is there. Welcome to top class, Sascha!

don't rush sascha

Wow, what a sensation, a win over top 100 player for Michael Venus. It is not common to see a Kiwi man winning in singles even at challenger level these days
-
Goffin was really afraid of win, but Wawrinka literally gifted it. That smash on 5-5 in tie break. Nolesque

The problem is, big tournament usually means big names. You cannot force someone to play masters event one week after Grand Slam, to switch from clay to grass. It would be too much. I mean, I first love grass as surface, the original surface, and would love to see much more grass tournaments but in current conditions it simply is not feasible. EDIT: Yay, my 100th post

I agree, Indian Wells is definitely best organized non-Grand Slam tournament. As for Masters 1000 played on grass... it won't happen. There is no time, 5 weeks on grass is really too few to put in a Grand Slam and a Masters/Premier 5/M tournament together. Only if they expand grass season on 7 weeks we can talk about such event, otherwise, having two ATP 500 and two WTA Premier events is really enough.
-
Indian Wells and Shanghai want own category, to be above other masters tournaments, something like "Super Masters" as both tournaments have capacity and conditions to organize such big events. Indian Wells also would like to switch to full 128-player draw. It seems it can be achieved in 2019... http://theyellowballcorner.blogspot.rs/2016/03/indian-wells-like-shanghai-wants-its.html
