  1. Our World Cup hopes will be alive for another 8 days first ever away win against Bahrain, even though technically that was a "home match" 2 wins out 4, and I assume beating Cambodia will be easy. so it's win or die match against Iraq now. if it wasn't for North Korea's withdrawal Iran would qualify even after losing to Iraq but now only a win will be enough.
  2. I see Iranian girl Aghaei is currently #3 reserve. but actually #2 because the Egyptian girl is also qualified in doubles events. is there any chance 2 players withdraw ? sounds a bit unlikely. Aghaei herself was injured for something like 1.5 years and had two surgeries . I know Marin is injured (unfortunately) but she will be replaced by another Spanish girl
  3. can you give us the same link for other 4 events.
  4. that's interesting. he was supposed to compete in Final C with a Kuwaiti guy but withdrew. I thought he won't be counted in the final ranking and won't be eligible to receive a quota but apparently I was wrong. maybe one country rejected its quota. or maybe KUW took the female quota. because after all Asia had 1 additional quota because of unused host quota. meaning 6 (instead of 5) qualified in single sculls events. but this line was amazing skill and fighting spirit
  5. https://www.iwf.net/2021/06/05/public-disclosure-191/ https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1108654/olympic-weightlifting-medal-conten
  6. yes Kazakhstan too, most of those others "suspicious" qualification marks for Iranian athletes were achieved in Kazakhstan! mostly in Kosanov tournament. either the track is super fast or they do magic with the numbers what's really annoying for me is that some of those probably "fake" results are national records at the moment. I seriously suspect at least our Hammer throw and 110mH records.
  7. Results of 2021 Pan-American Championships https://wt.uptkd.com/resul_elim_horiz.php?camp=39 https://wt.uptkd.com/resul_elim_horiz.php?camp=40 I wonder why Edival Pontes of Brazil didn't participate here ?! injured or something ? I had him as one of medal contenders in Tokyo. btw by not participating here he probably put himself in a very tough situation in the ranking. (and therefore the Olympic seeding)
  8. I found out recently that some Iranian athletes who qualified for 2012 and 2016 Olympics cheated their way into it. of course I have no proof but I'm almost sure about at least two of them. (I suspect 5 or 6) it seems in certain countries (mostly Belarus) you can get whatever result you want!!! while checking some results this one caught my attention, this guy from Bahrain all of a sudden qualified for the Olympics by a 21.10m throw in Belarus. (which is equal to the qualification mark) his other results are much weaker. I think this is at best suspicious . (or maybe he is young and improved big time ) https://www.worldathletics.org/athletes/bahrain/abdelrahman-mahmoud-14847215
  9. why Ligeti ?! that quota goes to Aiaal Lazarev of Kyrgyzstan
  10. Important results in Asia today 3-0 3-1 1-0 4-0 Australia only needs to beat Nepal and Chinese Taipei to qualify, that's a sure thing. they will join Japan (only team already qualified) other groups are still a bit complicated. and for Iran it was a poor performance. I was expecting a bigger margin to improve the GD but HKG parked the bus for something like 80 minutes and the pitch in Bahrain was also terrible. our GK never touched the ball with his hands until that HKG goal which was their only half chance ! that match against Bahrain on 7 June is win or die. at least this one will be in the main stadium with a much better pitch. by my count a draw may eliminate both teams. (thanks to PRK) but still I highly doubt Bahrain doesn't park the bus. beating Bahrain "sounds" easy but not for Iran. we played there 6 times in history and the results were 2 draws and 4 defeats still hoping for a win
  11. Italy, Serbia and China are here without their best players. for Italy and Serbia this is completely a B team (I mean top 12-16 players are training somewhere else with the NT coach) while China has a better team and I think I read somewhere that top players (including Zhu Ting) will join the rest somewhere in middle of the competition. am I right ? @Vic Liu but you would expect Italy B to win some matches here. they are not "this" bad actually. there are some young and promising players in that team. they could beat Poland and Japan with a bit of luck.
  12. Thanks a lot I'm not expert in all 33 Olympic sports but at least I know what the hell I'm watching, in case of surfing I was completely uneducated. zero. I only started to learn something today I feel like a duty to watch at least few minutes of every single sport at the Olympics. and I want to ask one more question. (promise this is the last one) Surfing once was in one of Asian Beach Games editions long time ago. they had an event called "Aerials". what was that ? something doesn't exist anymore ? jumping to the air with a surf ?
  13. and may I ask what's the difference ? except the board being longer or shorter
  14. the only sport in the 2020 Olympic program that I know absolutely nothing about is Surfing. so I wanted to watch some of the competition today to learn a bit about the sport before the Olympics. to my huge surprise I saw two Iranians in the start list (I don't even know which organization is responsible for this sport here) one of them is already eliminated and the other guy is in repechage 2 ! (and will be eliminated soon) the name "Tom Rezvan" doesn't sound Iranian at all. but I assume they are both Americans with Iranian heritage. I learned the competition format. that was easy. but my question is about the number of events. I see only shortboard events will be at the Olympics. are there any other events in Surfing competitions ? longboard for example (sorry if this question sounds dumb )
  15. Entries for Polish Open, the last ranking event before Tokyo. the Olympic seeding will be finalized after that https://uww.org/article/poland-open-entries-june-9-13 Russia was supposed to send A team but apparently they will pick another tournament. and for Iran (and apparently few other countries specially Kazakhstan) this acts as our trials for the Olympics in 5 weights. whoever wins go to the Olympics.
  16. World Cup Draw Group A) Group B) Group C) Group D) Group E) Group F)
  17. lots of medal contenders (including at least 3 Olympic Champions) failed to qualify in wrestling. but these kind of "medal contenders" are usually from strong nations and they are not eligible for the Tripartite invitation. someone asked me this question today and my instant answer was yes! but then when I started to think, nobody came to my mind I assume nobody won a medal with "Tripartite invitation" but I think it happened with wild cards before when they weren't this strict. I remember back in 1996 when Russia failed to qualify a full wrestling team, FILA (former UWW) gave them a wild card to have a full team in Atlanta, that guy (Chechenol Mongush) finished 4th but I assume someone won a medal with those wild cards in other sports. (I mean Wild Card for Russia in wrestling is the last thing you would imagine) This article says Kye Sun-hui won Olympic gold in Judo in 1996 thanks to a wild card, I don't fully trust ITG though https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1092311/kye-sun-hui-north-korea
  18. a bit off topic but did any of those wild carders ended up winning an Olympic medal ? (I mean the same year not in the future)
  19. I lost count how many years I'm here (that was before 2012 Olympics for sure when the forum went down during the Games ) and I know we had our disagreements sometimes but I really really appreciate your time and effort.
  20. yes that's a sure thing Chumak in men's 109kg and 2 between Konotop, Dekha and Lysenko (I believe Konotop and Lysenko)
  21. this is the last updated list, Vietnam is likely to be added too. and Romania. https://www.iwf.net/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2021/04/Number-of-ADRV_12042021.pdf
  22. I believe it will be between 2 and 4. +109 is guaranteed. very good chance for women's 49kg and 87kg. also slim chance for men's 96kg.
  23. we will have the final list in 2 weeks apparently but we will probably have a better idea when IWF publishes the updated list (after removing ineligible weightlifters) on 3 or 4 June. This is the ranking if we remove "obvious" ineligible weightlifters. if all those weightlifters expected to not participate doesn't get selected, CZE and HUN will be in top 8 and Kuworge will take the European quota. but even if none of this happens. he still has a good chance to take the re-allocated African quota. this will be stupid to deny him a chance. he is the World Junior Champion with a brilliant future. good chance not be selected good chance not be selected -----------------------------------TOP8 Won't be selected 99% 109kg weightlifter but has a chance to play dirty and qualify here won't be selected most probably won't be selected most probably
  24. @heywoodu Kuworge just lifted 411kg (his new PB) in total to beat two Iranian weightlifters for the gold in world juniors with that result he will take that Israeli weightlifter. he will be in 24th position and with a bit of luck he will qualify for the Olympics. I believe he has a good chance.
  25. IWF updates its website with African Champs results and added them to the Olympic Ranking. only some weights at the World Juniors are left. from what I see, the followings are the best ranked Africans 61kg: E. Andriantsitohaina 67kg: T. Andriatsitohaina 73kg: Ben Hnia (Top 8) and Moum 81kg: Bahloul 96kg: Amoah 109kg: Bacha +109kg: Bidani (Top 8) no African weightlifter is eligible to grab the +109kg African quota. 49kg: Ranaivosoa 55kg: Landoulsi (she is also Africa #1 at 59kg) 59kg: Rahmouni ( Taljaard is next) 64kg: Rahmouni ( Pretorious is next) 76kg: Eyenga 87kg: Meukeugni +87kg: nobody is eligible * Rahmouni is more likely to pick 64kg
