  1. this is way different than what I count. I assume you made separate rankings for 50kg and 55kg for example but I don't think so. Yassmin Attia is currently behind her compatriot Radwa Seyed in 55kg (I mean the joint 50/55, that's what they are going to count for the continental quotas)
  2. that was a huge upset. not just because he beat the host athlete, Kvesic is already qualified for Tokyo through the ranking (which means he is pretty good) there are 3 spots available in the last chance qualifier in June in France. I think everybody has a chance here but I believe we will have something like 80-100 participants in each event.
  3. I'm going to spoil it for you. Slovakia won the bronze
  4. Semifinals for later this afternoon Men's 58kg: vs //// vs Men's +80kg: vs //// vs Women's 57kg: vs //// vs Women's +67kg: vs //// vs hopefully someone stops Jordan from winning all 4 quotas Uzbekistan and TPE are also one win away from that. (Uzbekistan had one 1 quota via ranking) our Afghan refugee also made it to the SF, he will be underdog against Zhaaporv but that's not impossible. Kiani did great by beating the Thai girl. (she had beaten Harnsujin before, long time ago in 2017) but still she has to beat Jordan to finish the job. nothing accomplished yet
  5. now we know why Afghanistan team wasn't here ! (they were in Jordan actually but not in the competition) https://tolonews.com/sport-172303
  6. Chinese Taipei had a joint training camp with Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Kazakhstan in a quarantined camp in Uzbekistan for something like a month. apparently that worked pretty well for 3 of those 4 countries. Jordan on other hand just had these 2 quotas guaranteed before the start. it will be much harder for them tomorrow.
  7. yeah my mistake. Karate competitions are usually in 3 days. but we have an extra day here. (most continental championships have an extra day, I just forgot that)
  8. the live stream was terrible but from what I understood the followings qualified: Men's 68kg: Men's 80kg: Women's 49kg: Women's 67kg: top 2 seeds qualified in all weights but one. men's 68kg. where Kazakhstan lost to Uzbekistan but that wasn't really surprising.
  9. no quota for Momenzadeh. it wasn't even close. the Taiwanese girl ate her alive I believe she will be a medal favorite in Tokyo. Palestine also lost to Taiwan.
  10. 2nd day brackets https://www.ma-regonline.com/downloads/1489/DRAW DAY 2 - ASIAN QUALIFICATION TOURNAMENT FOR TOKYO 2020.pdf very tough draw for Kiani, she has to beat the World Champion from Thailand for the quota only 4 athletes registered for women's +67kg. and are clear favorites but the Philippine girl qualified last time. she is hoping for another surprise. also just 6 for men's +80kg. looks very easy for Sun, but Zhaparov has to beat (most probably) the Afghan refugee guy I wrote about earlier. men's 58kg, looks safe in the first half, is the favorite in the other half but and are there too women's 57kg is more crowded with 14 participants. Harnsujin is the current world champion and the clear fovorite from her half (she has to deal with and probably later ) but for the bottom half we have as the favorite but I also see challenging her for the quota.
  11. I believe the SF will start on 15:00 (Jordan time) . and no final. just a 3rd place match in case one of the finalists get disqualified. and the afternoon session will be held only on Court 1. (all match numbers starting with 1) preliminaries and QF start on 9:00 (local time)
  12. Semifinals for later this afternoon Men's 68kg: vs //// vs Men's 80kg: vs //// vs Women's 49kg: vs //// vs Women's 67kg: vs //// vs -------------------------- the only surprise today was Thailand losing to Palestine in men's 68kg. I don't think the Palestinian guy is originally from there but he was pretty good against Thailand. still it will be very hard for him to beat top seed from TPE but if he does that will be the first quota for Palestine. interesting timing. also no surprise in women's 49kg. top 4 made it to the semifinal. Momenzadeh beat the fake Palestinian (Iranian living in Turkey lol) almost easily. she will have the match of her life against the Asian Games and Universiade Champion from TPE. I wish she was the 4th seed (instead of 3rd) the top seed from Vietnam was much easier for her.
  13. I was surprised by the level of Palestinian girl (who will face Momenzadeh from Iran in an hour) but after a quick search she turned out to be Iranian this is new. refugee/migrant in Palestine (she lives in Turkey btw, just represents Palestine)
  14. it seems Afghanistan team didn't even traveled to Jordan for the qualifiers. I don't know why but that's really disappointing. because Taekwondo is the only sport that Afghanistan can do something in world level. (even though their current level is far from good) but I saw another refugee in the start list , Ali Akbar Amiri which looks very Iranian. at first I thought he is another fake refugee from Iran but in fact he is (or at least was) a refugee "in Iran"! born and raised in Iran from Afghan parents but per some stupid and unfair rules he has no passport. it will be an interesting story if he qualifies. (even though his level isn't that great) I wonder if he is in Amman or missed the trip like the rest of Afghan athletes.
  15. Looking at the 1st day brackets, some quotas are already very predictable. I mean I know this sport is unpredictable in general but not really when the gap is too big. even though we had lots of big surprises in Bulgaria during the European OQT. I highly doubt doesn't qualify in men's 80kg. he only has to beat a Syrian refugee and the winner of KGZ/KUW ! bottom half also looks easy for . maybe only Qatar can do something here. in women's 67kg we already know one and probably both ! UZB girl will beat QAT easily. it will be and as usual lower weights are more competitive. in men's 68kg. and are in the same half. one of them will go to Tokyo. bottom half looks much more interesting with 3 or 4 candidates. and women's 49kg. at first look I thought our girl Momenzadeh has an easy draw until the SF where she has to face the Asian Games gold medalist from TPE. but it seems that Palestinian girl is good too. but still most probably it will be between and with TPE being the favorite. in top half it's between and with outside chance for HKG.
  16. and first day draw https://www.ma-regonline.com/downloads/1489/DRAW DAY 1 - ASIAN QUALIFICATION TOURNAMENT FOR TOKYO 2020.pdf
  17. Entry list https://www.ma-regonline.com/tournaments/1489/Asian-Qualification-Tournament-for-Tokyo-2020-Olympic-Games-
  18. so Jana Messerschmidt is just one win away from the Olympics. she was way behind the Taiwanese girl before the Portugal K1 event but she lost in the first round and put herself in this situation. last ranking quota will be decided tomorrow
  19. surprised that our guy Rezaei went toe to toe with European canoeists, finished 2nd (which is also the 2nd best result in all 3 heats and yes I know we can't compare time from different heats) and has to go through the semifinals why the hell they sent someone else to the Asian Qualifiers ?! it's impossible to qualify here with all these European athletes but Asian QT was at least possible for him (that Chinese guy was also too good though)
  20. after the first day of European Karate Championships. our list is almost complete the following athletes joined the list of already qualified karatekas Ivan Kvesic (Men's 84kg) Sajjad Ganjzadeh (Men's +84kg) Jonathan Horne (Men's +84kg) Gong Li (Women's 68kg) Meltem Hocaoglu (Women's +68kg) only one quota is left and will be decided tomorrow. that's between Wen Tzu-Yun and Jana Messerschmidt in women's 55kg. Messerschmidt has to win the gold to qualify.
  21. it's done now. the following guys are qualified for Tokyo Sajjad Ganjzadeh Ivan Kvesic really bad luck for Zabih Poursheib, no more chance Gogita Arkania can still make it in France.
  22. Aktas is in QF now and needs 1 more win but I think it's already done. even if he loses to Slovakia. the Slovakian guy has to face Kvesic in the SF and I believe Kvesic will lose intentionally to keep Aktas in the repechage, that will be enough. (just participating in repechage) even though Aktas most probably doesn't need that and he will win the QF.
  23. Jonathan Horne beat Gogita Arkania in the QF 5-0 and qualified for the Olympics. interestingly after 2-3 years of traveling and competing everywhere, their Olympic quota was decided in a direct match between them. Arkania still can qualify today depends on Aktas.
  24. no. max is 990 if there are more than 32 athletes in the bracket . for less than that. the max is 930. 67kg is already done with France and Egypt qualifying.
  25. Hocaoglu made it to the final and the Olympics. she didn't need that since Chatziliadou lost before the final
