  1. a 100m sprinter from North Korea with a PB of 9.90, is it serious ? https://info.hangzhou2022.cn/resAG2022-/pdf/AG2022-/ATH/AG2022-_ATH_C51B_ATHM100M--------------RND1--------.pdf
  2. today we won 2 gold medals + 2-3 virtual gold medals I mean people think our athlete(s) deserved the gold but got robbed of it. and in one case I agree. but the highlight of the day which made it into social media wasn't any of those medals, Cycling is literally dead here and we sent only 1 male cyclist and that guy competed in Omnium today. nobody expected a medal and he was something like 10th before the last few laps of Points Race but managed to lap the group and added few more points. at the end the TV graphics surprisingly showed the Iranian in the bronze medal position and our TV commentator went crazy and even cried something like "guys I can't speak anymore" of course I quickly realized that was a mistake because he didn't score anything in the last sprint and they adjusted the result few minutes later !
  3. any chance they release the "results books" at the end of the competition? they didn't do that so far for the sports like Rowing (already finished few days ago) I like to keep all results for myself and it seems this time I have to do it myself manually
  4. This is first time we are leaving the Taekwondo competition at the Asian Games without a single gold medal. and not because our team was bad. mostly because we weren't supposed to. I'm watching Asian Games since 1998 and I know the officiating is always bad in certain sports (probably worst than any other sport competitions) but taekwondo this year was something special. the only good thing is today was the last day and I don't have to torture myself watching Taekwondo anymore.
  5. hmm, I think Iran is doing OK in term of number of medals but only 1 gold so far doesn't look good. even though in first 3 days beside volleyball the only sport we had a legit chance to win gold was Taekwondo. specially today we had the current World Champion but she lost in the first round not the biggest surprise ever to me since I know our girls can't handle the pressure of being #1 favorite. we could win 2 more golds in the men's side but they both lost the finals narrowly. and our other medal-favorite girl lost because of weird electronic system which gave 20 extra points to the Chinese girl. I mean we are probably 1 gold less than expectations so far but that happens. you know wrestling is our big thing when it comes to the Asian Games but having World Championship only few days before the Games really ruined some of our chances. we still don't know the Asian Games squad and they are considering some changes. most of our top lighter weights wrestlers can't cut weight twice in a short period of time.
  6. We had to wait for a team sport to give us the first gold medal that was nice winning gold in volleyball but this gold most probably will cost us the Olympic quota. now they have to fly half the world to Brazil and play their first match vs Germany in 2 or 3 days .
  7. it wasn't just the final. we had two semifinals against China and in both of them some magic moments happened. the Chinese guy/girl just threw his/her leg to the air and 2+3+3+3+3+3 appeared on the scoreboard. refs removed some of them but still it wasn't a fair contest. there is something wrong and I seriously hope they fix it for the next days.
  8. 5 medals for Iran so far. all of them in women's events that's not something you would expect of course that's going to change soon, even today. but still worth mentioning
  9. how come Running target events are in the program while the host country didn't even care to enter a team ?!
  10. They were unbelievably bad, they ended up with just 1 bronze in a non-Olympic weight. half of them were unknown to me and those famous wrestlers also failed badly. their best chance Sargsian broke his hand in his first match against the eventual gold medalist from Cuba. some of their biggest names like Evloev and Vlasov didn't participate but I think in general they are just getting weak. we rarely even heard anything about their Greco team before the competition. it was all about freestyle.
  11. last day quotas 67: 87: Azerbaijan won the team title and Iran once again finished 2nd, same as freestyle I was expecting more medals with better color but 1 G, 1 S, 3 B plus 4 Olympic quotas is not a bad result at all. that's even one more than last time in 2019
  12. Yes I was watching it on our local TV and nobody believes what just happened beating Japan 3-0 ? seriously ? wow bring on China heroic performance from all of our 3 players specially Nima for beating Harimoto and gave momentum to the rest
  13. Fantastic, I'm not familiar with this. is this going to work the whole Games ? or it will be blocked soon and ... It's really hard to watch our TV with dumbest commentators ever.
  14. interestingly even after removing top 5, I think Asia is still tough in this weight the Korean is good but I believe you have to be more worried about the Kazakh guy. and we also have North Korea if they decide to participate. I think those 2 Asian quotas will be between KAZ/IND/KOR and PRK
  15. Cuban wrestlers are weird, they can be average for some years and then bang, beating everybody and win the gold Gabriel Rosillo surprised everybody by beating Saravi last night and he didn't stop there, he also beat the great Aleksanyan tonight to be the new king of 97kg. it was a disappointing day in general, Geraei getting humiliated like that (the match he won against JPN was even more humiliating) Alizadeh lost the a guy he beat 2-3 times before easily Azerbaijan is going to win the team title but at least winning two quotas made it a bit better at the end of the day. Iran and AIN (Belarus) won the remaining quotas in 5th place matches so here are the quotas for tonight 60: 97: Asia takes all 5 quotas in 60kg
  16. is this an official news ? because some random wrestling pages here also reported the same if he did that, he deserves to be in jail. that was disgusting. his younger brother is already an Olympic Champion and doesn't need his help. it's better to lose fairly rather than winning like that.
  17. that was a shameful match actually. Geraei was dead tired. I mean really "dead" and one of the spectators threw a bottle of water to stop the match for few minutes. helping the "dead Geraei" to somehow resist the Japanese wrestler. Geraei won the match unfairly but it was obvious he will lose the next one. he barely could stand on his feet. he is cutting too much to make the weight. he had to move up to 77kg but he doesn't because of his older brother. what a bad day. nobody in the SF and the team title is in danger too. we will see if our 3 wrestlers will be brought back to the repechage or not. Mohammadi and Geraei lost to better wrestlers so I think they have a chance. no chance for idiot Alizadeh for losing to someone 10 times weaker than himself.
  18. Congrats and you know he was my hero of the day for beating the disgrace of wrestling world Heiki "doing nothing" Nabi.
  19. Thanks a lot this is very interesting to find Asian Games draw in Egyptian boxing facebook page based on what I see, only one of our 5 boxers will face UZB/KAZ/Refs before the semifinal. I guess we can't complain about the draw. hopefully they win couple of bronze medals. I have low expectations in this sport and Olympic quotas are probably out of reach.
  20. I can't find boxing draws anywhere but I know that's already done and our boxing fed already reported the first round opponents. any chance to find it online ? the official website looks lazy in updating . I guess we will have it tomorrow I also had TT and Beach volleyball draws in our local websites almost a day before the official website
  21. Uzbekistan and China won the remaining quotas in 5th place matches .
  22. this made up for all defeats we had today, what a win in a very unlikely scenario, huge huge comeback from Mirzazadeh against the great Kayaalp winning the gold in last 5-6 seconds we lost two semifinals today, Saravi's defeat was unexpected. but I hope both win the bronze (and the quota) tomorrow. so far our Greco team is doing better, we just lost some close matches, a bit of bad luck in couple of defeats.
  23. I'm not talking about changing the passivity cautions or adding compulsory parterre (which I'm against it) I just think in case of 1-1 with both points from caution they should have another tie-breaking criteria. for example only in this case the guy who received the first point is the winner. or even make the 3rd caution optional. right now it only gives you a parterre position without a point, they can let the wrestler decide if he wants the parterrs chance or just 1 point. there are so many ways to avoid this. by "this" I mean wrestlers being intentionally passive in the first period.
  24. there is a big loophole in the Greco-Roman rules and lots of wrestlers are taking advantage of it. it's unbelievable that after 2.5 years they still can't see the problem lots of close matches in heavier weights end up 1-1 with the guy who was passive in the first period winning. and because of that most wrestlers prefer to be passive in the first period intentionally. Heki F. Nabi won 90% of matches in his career with the same tactic, he won two matches today with the same score until Kayaalp destroyed him our 130kg also used the same tactic, nothing to be proud of. he is much better than this quotas tonight in Greco 77: 130:
  25. good day so far with 3 in the semifinal. but only 1 in Olympic weights because majesty Geraei was too lazy to start attacking in the first period. but the guy from Japan who beat Geraei 5-5 dominated his next 2 matches and is in the semifinal. I highly doubt he can beat Akzhul and Geraei will get eliminated but it shows with a bit of more work Geraei could be here at least winning the quota. semis in Olympic weights 77: vs / vs 130: vs / vs these guys are one win away from the Olympics. and they will have 3 chances to do that. and btw what a bad day for Russia. nobody in the SF and 3 of them are already out ! their freestyle team did OK considering the situation but in Greco they may even end up without anybody in top 8. (I believe 97kg is their best chance)
