  1. at the moment no, but 2 or 3 of your weightlifters are in top 20. and not very far behind the 10th place record. still needs to improve something like 10kg but personally I think anybody in top 15 may qualify eventually. officially top 10 will go to Paris but we know this sport. it's always possible to have last minute injuries, disqualifications, also NOCs are limited to only 3 in each gender which will remove some weightlifters from the list too
  2. This, the 6th athlete in the World Ranking will grab the quota
  3. 1. No, this GS has 25% more value, the previous was supposed to be held in 2022, they treat it like a 2022 event. 2. looks like their GS sponsors are from China. so Yes 3. I assume WT will publish the list (if they ever do) in January but we can already know who is qualified. I have to repeat again, 4 years ago they never published a list of qualified athletes. they probably simply only notified the NOCs. yes, that's a very shitty organization btw I have a hard time to find out which 3 athletes in each weight were exempt from the qualification. WT didn't bother to publish this one as well I just found out FIruza Sadikova (W67) and Nikita Rafalovich (+80) from Uzbek sources, and Firas Katousi (80) from Tunisian sources and I also know Mehran Barkhordari (80) from our team. I can assume Maicon Andrade is another one at +80kg. it was also weird to see Ivan Sapina in the qualifiers, being rank #3 he could be exempt . no idea whey he participated in the qualifiers ?!
  4. in case you didn't see it already http://www.worldtaekwondo.org/competition/view.html?nid=140815&mcd=K14&sc=re
  5. come on, you know he is not an ordinary athlete. you just have to keep him away from behind the wheels the competition is indeed very tough at 89kg, by my count there are at least 5 guys capable of lifting +390kg in Paris but if everybody is healthy nobody beats Karlos. in men's categories he is the 2nd safe gold medal only behind Talakhadze. he only can lose to himself.
  6. Karlos Nasar broke another World Record , wasn't he supposed to be injured for a long time ? if he can lift 223kg coming off from an injury, how much he can lift when he is healthy ? and he is still a junior probably it's time for China to think about picking another weight class if they are only interested in gold medals. 89kg gold medal has already found its winner.
  7. I seriously hope they reject the quota. I mean I'm totally in favor of having all continents represented, but this sport simply doesn't exist in Africa, at least not yet. all male competitors are South Africans !!! and their best result is 7.16!!! how this event is even legitimate with one country competing ? and in the women's side we had 5 from RSA and 1 from MRI who clocked 30 seconds! she may even go to the Olympics with that if RSA rejects the quota. (I assume there is no minimum time required in the qualification rules)
  8. this guy is trying to explain American people's point of view about killing people
  9. if I remember correctly last time in 2020 WT never published any specific list for qualified athletes. they just published their ranking in early days of January like any other month. so I expect the same this time but you never know. maybe they do a better job this time and yes quotas are 100% confirmed only when they publish the next ranking but I'm 99% sure what I wrote earlier is correct unless they change some scores from past tournaments. (highly unlikely but not impossible)
  10. It's right but for 1st December, before the final Grand Prix. by my count and if I'm not wrong in their next update which shows who qualified for Paris (Jan 2024) Rafalovich will be 6th and Maicon will be 7th but there is a very small gap (2.21 pts) between them. ps: sometimes WT makes small adjustments for previous tournaments. for example before Tokyo, one of our guys participated in a G1 event specifically to get some points and changes his Olympic seed to avoid Lee Dae-hoon in Tokyo, he won the event and got those points but a month later WT removed them because there was a mistake and he shouldn't be allowed to participate in that event. I'm saying when the gap is less than 10pts it's always better to wait for WT's final update. they usually evaluate the scores near the end of the year.
  11. he lost in the QF in Pan-Am Games but since they follow a repechage system (not direct elimination), he didn't receive the 5th place points but the 9th place points by my count he has 289, a little lower than Atesli and Rafalovich.
  12. there are two mistakes here , first that's November's ranking, they published December's ranking today and even with that you can't just add the Final GP points to it. you also have to reduce some points from December 2022, 2021, 2020 and 2019 (no tournament in December 2020 and 2021 because of COVID so it's just 2022 and 2019) so it will be something like this, mistakes are possible specially in those weights I care less about but that's unlikely 58) Jendoubi 446, Vicente 423, Jang 402, Vito 372, Salim 300 / 6th: Woolley 277 68) Rashitov 462, Sinden 438, Recber 420, Zaid MK 403, Perez 367 / 6th: Jin HJ 353 80) Alessio 500, Nicholas 430, Eissa 426, Seo GW 368, Sharabati 368 / 6th: Katousi 312 +80) Cisse 565, Sansores 438, Sapina 376, Cunnigham 330, Atesli 299 / 6th: Rafalovich 291 49) Panipak 650, Dincel 524, Cerezo 522, Stojkovic 440, Souza 370 / 6th: Guo Q 329 57) Luo Z 567, Jones 418, Park 401, Kiani 400, Ilgun 372 / 6th: Lo C.L. 321 67) Chaari 513, Wiet-Henin 479, Al-Sadeq 459, Perisic 361, Zhang MY 342 / 6th: Gbagbi 339 +67) Laurin 527, Kus 439, Lee DB 416, McGowan 388, Ossipova 325 / 6th: Brandl 289
  13. sorry but your scores are all wrong this is not how you should calculate it. but the most important thing is the top 5 and they are all correct (the order is not in some weights)
  14. have to correct myself. they received the visa last night, Saturday evening. after their competition by my count H-Mousaei is only 6pts behind the 6th guy from Ireland. so only 10pts of participation would be enough for him to at least be in 6th place position which I believe in this weight might be enough for the quota. if WT was even half decent they had to give at least those 10pts to the Iranians. but of course I know only certain countries can have those kind of privileges.
  15. past few days had been stressful, I was checking the news so many times during the day to see the updates on this fucking visa thing. and at the end nothing, no answer, no visa. as simple as that. those bastards simply did what they always do and a shitty organization like WT can't and won't do anything about it. this is the 3rd time in this sport in past 4 years. and this time in the most important tournament. there is only one way to deal with the fucking bully and WT is toooo weak for that. feel very very angry, we have this problem whenever US and it's colonies host something, they clearly started a war with our athletes. looks like sanctioning everything (including medicine which hurt lots of people directly) wasn't enough. damn, I'm so tired of this, this is too much, fucking criminals
  16. well I didn't watch a lot from this season (maybe he improved a lot?!) but I watched this guy for so many years and to me he is the worst player ever! I always thought his agent is probably the biggest conman in the world, selling him to big clubs over and over.
  17. looking at the preliminary start list for the Final GP, Iran registered only 3 athletes the rest are probably preparing for the Grand Slam and apparently our federation thinks Nahid Kiani is already 100% safe and doesn't need to participate (which is wrong, she is 99% qualified but not 100%) our 58kg who is in a close race for the quota is a bit injured, but if he gets lucky even going to this GP and winning the first round (or even losing it) might be enough for him. but at the moment I'm only worried about the notorious host country, they denied visa last year but that was just another Grand Prix, this one is the final grand Prix. the most important tournament in this 4 year qualification cycle. WT can't stay idle and do nothing if it happens again (oh yes they can and they will. the world is not fair)
  18. That last minute action looked like a penalty IMO. but glad Italy survived after all. but what a shame Italian football is in this position now, Euro 2020+1 feels like million years ago.
  19. apparently they did https://d3u2kdyvfaxwhl.cloudfront.net/s3fs-public/2023-11/231117_list_of_disciplinary_sanctions_uww_website.pdf Polish ref "Karol Lebowski" is banned for one year for "Serious refereeing mistake/partiality" looks like that's our corrupt mat chairman. for people who are not familiar with officiating in this sport. we have 3 refs for each match, center ref, judge and mat chairman. The mat chairman is the one you usually can't see on TV. and he has a higher degree. he has the final word on important matters like fall/pin.
  20. Geraei is now officially banned for 1 year. of course he will appeal but if that stays, he will miss the Olympics and I believe that will be the end of his career. indeed he deserved it.
  21. if wrestling was easy to predict by just looking at some ranking or some old results. it would be as boring as swimming. there is no accurate ranking (American websites do good sometimes in making freestyle rankings but they are not free to read). finishing 7-10 in the Worlds doesn't really mean anything. that's based on classification points (which usually means how many weak wrestlers you met) Continental results are not irrelevant but Asian Games was way too close to the World Champs and some big names had to sit out, also some wrestlers prefer to compete in non-Olympic weights in other years. Olympic Qualifier will be a completely different beast with some guys switching weights and some countries hiring new Russian mercenary wrestlers.
  22. actually I think in half of the groups even the 2nd position is almost clear. Group C,E, F,H for example. TJK was about to beat JOR but they conceded in the very last second. I don't think JOR will offer them another chance. I think questions are about PLE/LBN , KGZ/MAS, IND/KUW and SYR/PRK when I was a kid Kuwait was a top team in Asia, I still remember our close battles with them when they had likes of the great Jasem Al-Huwaidi. yes maybe I still remember Kuwait by that team and somehow consider them a top side. their current team is not tier 1 in Asia anymore. but still an away win for India against them should be considered as an upset. great chance for India to advance now.
  23. this round of AFC qualifiers is quite predictable. we almost already know which 18 teams will advance. there are only 2 or 3 questions remain India scored a big big win in Kuwait, probably the only real surprise of the day. Syria also beat PRK Iran started with a 4-0 win against HKG, it's still very hard for me to cheer for this Iran team because I genuinely hate the head coach, he is a kind of mafia boss
  24. is there a world record for the number of postponements ?
  25. That's unbelievable. Losonczi clearly pinned the guy and "won" the gold medal. the center ref called it but the other refs decided to not see the obvious! that's what the UWW should investigate and ban that mat chairman. per UWW rules you can't challenge a fall. Hungarian coach couldn't do anything about it. Losonczi lost and per UWW rules nothing can change that. but all of a sudden they came up with something very new! this never happened before. changing the result 2 months after the match?! are they going to "fix" the result in all other matches where bad or mostly corrupt officiating changed the outcome of the match? two wrongs don't make a right
