  1. last day quotas 67: 87: Azerbaijan won the team title and Iran once again finished 2nd, same as freestyle I was expecting more medals with better color but 1 G, 1 S, 3 B plus 4 Olympic quotas is not a bad result at all. that's even one more than last time in 2019
  2. Yes I was watching it on our local TV and nobody believes what just happened beating Japan 3-0 ? seriously ? wow bring on China heroic performance from all of our 3 players specially Nima for beating Harimoto and gave momentum to the rest
  3. Fantastic, I'm not familiar with this. is this going to work the whole Games ? or it will be blocked soon and ... It's really hard to watch our TV with dumbest commentators ever.
  4. interestingly even after removing top 5, I think Asia is still tough in this weight the Korean is good but I believe you have to be more worried about the Kazakh guy. and we also have North Korea if they decide to participate. I think those 2 Asian quotas will be between KAZ/IND/KOR and PRK
  5. Cuban wrestlers are weird, they can be average for some years and then bang, beating everybody and win the gold Gabriel Rosillo surprised everybody by beating Saravi last night and he didn't stop there, he also beat the great Aleksanyan tonight to be the new king of 97kg. it was a disappointing day in general, Geraei getting humiliated like that (the match he won against JPN was even more humiliating) Alizadeh lost the a guy he beat 2-3 times before easily Azerbaijan is going to win the team title but at least winning two quotas made it a bit better at the end of the day. Iran and AIN (Belarus) won the remaining quotas in 5th place matches so here are the quotas for tonight 60: 97: Asia takes all 5 quotas in 60kg
  6. is this an official news ? because some random wrestling pages here also reported the same if he did that, he deserves to be in jail. that was disgusting. his younger brother is already an Olympic Champion and doesn't need his help. it's better to lose fairly rather than winning like that.
  7. that was a shameful match actually. Geraei was dead tired. I mean really "dead" and one of the spectators threw a bottle of water to stop the match for few minutes. helping the "dead Geraei" to somehow resist the Japanese wrestler. Geraei won the match unfairly but it was obvious he will lose the next one. he barely could stand on his feet. he is cutting too much to make the weight. he had to move up to 77kg but he doesn't because of his older brother. what a bad day. nobody in the SF and the team title is in danger too. we will see if our 3 wrestlers will be brought back to the repechage or not. Mohammadi and Geraei lost to better wrestlers so I think they have a chance. no chance for idiot Alizadeh for losing to someone 10 times weaker than himself.
  8. Congrats and you know he was my hero of the day for beating the disgrace of wrestling world Heiki "doing nothing" Nabi.
  9. Thanks a lot this is very interesting to find Asian Games draw in Egyptian boxing facebook page based on what I see, only one of our 5 boxers will face UZB/KAZ/Refs before the semifinal. I guess we can't complain about the draw. hopefully they win couple of bronze medals. I have low expectations in this sport and Olympic quotas are probably out of reach.
  10. I can't find boxing draws anywhere but I know that's already done and our boxing fed already reported the first round opponents. any chance to find it online ? the official website looks lazy in updating . I guess we will have it tomorrow I also had TT and Beach volleyball draws in our local websites almost a day before the official website
  11. Uzbekistan and China won the remaining quotas in 5th place matches .
  12. this made up for all defeats we had today, what a win in a very unlikely scenario, huge huge comeback from Mirzazadeh against the great Kayaalp winning the gold in last 5-6 seconds we lost two semifinals today, Saravi's defeat was unexpected. but I hope both win the bronze (and the quota) tomorrow. so far our Greco team is doing better, we just lost some close matches, a bit of bad luck in couple of defeats.
  13. I'm not talking about changing the passivity cautions or adding compulsory parterre (which I'm against it) I just think in case of 1-1 with both points from caution they should have another tie-breaking criteria. for example only in this case the guy who received the first point is the winner. or even make the 3rd caution optional. right now it only gives you a parterre position without a point, they can let the wrestler decide if he wants the parterrs chance or just 1 point. there are so many ways to avoid this. by "this" I mean wrestlers being intentionally passive in the first period.
  14. there is a big loophole in the Greco-Roman rules and lots of wrestlers are taking advantage of it. it's unbelievable that after 2.5 years they still can't see the problem lots of close matches in heavier weights end up 1-1 with the guy who was passive in the first period winning. and because of that most wrestlers prefer to be passive in the first period intentionally. Heki F. Nabi won 90% of matches in his career with the same tactic, he won two matches today with the same score until Kayaalp destroyed him our 130kg also used the same tactic, nothing to be proud of. he is much better than this quotas tonight in Greco 77: 130:
  15. good day so far with 3 in the semifinal. but only 1 in Olympic weights because majesty Geraei was too lazy to start attacking in the first period. but the guy from Japan who beat Geraei 5-5 dominated his next 2 matches and is in the semifinal. I highly doubt he can beat Akzhul and Geraei will get eliminated but it shows with a bit of more work Geraei could be here at least winning the quota. semis in Olympic weights 77: vs / vs 130: vs / vs these guys are one win away from the Olympics. and they will have 3 chances to do that. and btw what a bad day for Russia. nobody in the SF and 3 of them are already out ! their freestyle team did OK considering the situation but in Greco they may even end up without anybody in top 8. (I believe 97kg is their best chance)
  16. Geraei senior has a history of losing to unknown Japanese wrestlers. he lost the Olympic bronze to a guy even weaker than this one. I gave up on him long time ago. he can beat anybody but in a tournament like this with 4-5 matches before the final. he always finds someone to lose to, unfortunately we don't have a better wrestler in this weight the moment. (77 and 87 are our weak links) he should be kicked out 2 years ago.
  17. Turkey, Poland and Cuba won the remaining 3 quotas after winning the 5th place matches
  18. 4 golds out of 4 for Japan tonight with a sad finish because of Kyrgyzstan girl's injury
  19. IRIB3 and IRIB-Varzesh even though it's not like they show wrestling 24/7 . lots of talking between matches. mostly focus on Iranian matches only. I also have access to Tajikistan TV-Varzish which showed a great deal of this tournament so far
  20. oh shit, why they didn't do that for one of women's double sculls events? I also see China entered 3 men for Sanda (they could enter 4) I wonder if it's intentional or what ? they don't want to win 100% available gold medals ?
  21. looks like China is going to win all Rowing gold medals. in past there was a rule limiting each country to something like 10 boats (out of 14 or 15) but they removed that this time. (I believe China is a bit vulnerable in Single Sculls events, so maybe they won't win 100% of the gold medals)
  22. it's really sad to see our World Champion had to wrestle in this 5th place match. he should be on that gold medal podium. but OK at least he won the quota after an easy 10-0 win. 65kg quotas are: 3 quotas is the least we could expect here. but that's OK. we still have two more chances to have a full team. and we seriously need to change something. all of our wins were something like 10-0 but we lost almost all close matches. there is something wrong we have to fix. it's not normal to lose lots of close matches in last 30 seconds. I believe our Greco team is better prepared but Greco in general is much tougher.
  23. Tazhudinov is just amazing. speechless of course Sadulaev was just 1% of himself but still beating Snyder 10-0 and pinning a giant like Magomedov like that is wow Bahrain know shit about wrestling. they just randomly bought this kid and he turned out an amazing wrestler.
  24. only Iranians can dominate a match but still end up losing it what he hell was that. the Russian was on the back foot for the entire 6 minutes. 4 defeats in a row against the Russians and all of those matches (maybe except 74kg) were winnable. just with a better strategy and with using that f..ing brain. most of our guys panic and don't think at all when they are down against RUS/USA.
  25. indeed he was impressive before but to be honest I never expected him to perform like this one weight down. it's really tough to cut 5kg and stay strong. most wrestlers gas badly when they cut (like our 92kg here) but it was the opposite for Kougioumtsidis he won 3 of his matches in the last minute. it didn't turn out to be a bad decision. Kurugliev (if he makes it to Paris) will be a medal favorite for sure. but 74kg is indeed much tougher than 86kg with lots of favorites. Kougioumtsidis had to go through a very hard draw, by beating Kadimagomedov and Salkazanov he really deserved the quota more than Bayramov (who is also a very good wrestler). he got lucky at the end with that singlet grab caution (which disqualified Bayramov with 3 cautions) but he deserved a bit of luck after beating those 2 guys.
