  1. past few days had been stressful, I was checking the news so many times during the day to see the updates on this fucking visa thing. and at the end nothing, no answer, no visa. as simple as that. those bastards simply did what they always do and a shitty organization like WT can't and won't do anything about it. this is the 3rd time in this sport in past 4 years. and this time in the most important tournament. there is only one way to deal with the fucking bully and WT is toooo weak for that. feel very very angry, we have this problem whenever US and it's colonies host something, they clearly started a war with our athletes. looks like sanctioning everything (including medicine which hurt lots of people directly) wasn't enough. damn, I'm so tired of this, this is too much, fucking criminals
  2. well I didn't watch a lot from this season (maybe he improved a lot?!) but I watched this guy for so many years and to me he is the worst player ever! I always thought his agent is probably the biggest conman in the world, selling him to big clubs over and over.
  3. looking at the preliminary start list for the Final GP, Iran registered only 3 athletes the rest are probably preparing for the Grand Slam and apparently our federation thinks Nahid Kiani is already 100% safe and doesn't need to participate (which is wrong, she is 99% qualified but not 100%) our 58kg who is in a close race for the quota is a bit injured, but if he gets lucky even going to this GP and winning the first round (or even losing it) might be enough for him. but at the moment I'm only worried about the notorious host country, they denied visa last year but that was just another Grand Prix, this one is the final grand Prix. the most important tournament in this 4 year qualification cycle. WT can't stay idle and do nothing if it happens again (oh yes they can and they will. the world is not fair)
  4. That last minute action looked like a penalty IMO. but glad Italy survived after all. but what a shame Italian football is in this position now, Euro 2020+1 feels like million years ago.
  5. apparently they did https://d3u2kdyvfaxwhl.cloudfront.net/s3fs-public/2023-11/231117_list_of_disciplinary_sanctions_uww_website.pdf Polish ref "Karol Lebowski" is banned for one year for "Serious refereeing mistake/partiality" looks like that's our corrupt mat chairman. for people who are not familiar with officiating in this sport. we have 3 refs for each match, center ref, judge and mat chairman. The mat chairman is the one you usually can't see on TV. and he has a higher degree. he has the final word on important matters like fall/pin.
  6. Geraei is now officially banned for 1 year. of course he will appeal but if that stays, he will miss the Olympics and I believe that will be the end of his career. indeed he deserved it.
  7. if wrestling was easy to predict by just looking at some ranking or some old results. it would be as boring as swimming. there is no accurate ranking (American websites do good sometimes in making freestyle rankings but they are not free to read). finishing 7-10 in the Worlds doesn't really mean anything. that's based on classification points (which usually means how many weak wrestlers you met) Continental results are not irrelevant but Asian Games was way too close to the World Champs and some big names had to sit out, also some wrestlers prefer to compete in non-Olympic weights in other years. Olympic Qualifier will be a completely different beast with some guys switching weights and some countries hiring new Russian mercenary wrestlers.
  8. actually I think in half of the groups even the 2nd position is almost clear. Group C,E, F,H for example. TJK was about to beat JOR but they conceded in the very last second. I don't think JOR will offer them another chance. I think questions are about PLE/LBN , KGZ/MAS, IND/KUW and SYR/PRK when I was a kid Kuwait was a top team in Asia, I still remember our close battles with them when they had likes of the great Jasem Al-Huwaidi. yes maybe I still remember Kuwait by that team and somehow consider them a top side. their current team is not tier 1 in Asia anymore. but still an away win for India against them should be considered as an upset. great chance for India to advance now.
  9. this round of AFC qualifiers is quite predictable. we almost already know which 18 teams will advance. there are only 2 or 3 questions remain India scored a big big win in Kuwait, probably the only real surprise of the day. Syria also beat PRK Iran started with a 4-0 win against HKG, it's still very hard for me to cheer for this Iran team because I genuinely hate the head coach, he is a kind of mafia boss
  10. is there a world record for the number of postponements ?
  11. That's unbelievable. Losonczi clearly pinned the guy and "won" the gold medal. the center ref called it but the other refs decided to not see the obvious! that's what the UWW should investigate and ban that mat chairman. per UWW rules you can't challenge a fall. Hungarian coach couldn't do anything about it. Losonczi lost and per UWW rules nothing can change that. but all of a sudden they came up with something very new! this never happened before. changing the result 2 months after the match?! are they going to "fix" the result in all other matches where bad or mostly corrupt officiating changed the outcome of the match? two wrongs don't make a right
  12. You sure ? because I hear complete different things whenever I turn on my TV and watch western leaders speeches. for my own mental health I prefer to stay away from all kind of war related news, it's just hard to watch children suffer like that everyday. but it's also impossible to stay away and call yourself human. Western countries are always proud of being 100% democratic. I believe that but that also means the guy in charge speak for the entire population of that specific country. (unless you tell me this democracy is a joke which I don't want to believe) so I think you are probably wrong. the majority loves it and probably even orders popcorn to watch this bloodshed everyday on TV. You speak about the whole thing like Palestinians were living in a Paradise and all of a sudden some of them decided to kill some "Jews" to have fun. their lives were terrible already, they had been treated like animals for so many years. when you treat people like animals, they will react like animals. of course nothing justifies killing children. but they were like some animals out of a 50 years old cage. I don't like Hamas for my own reasons and that doesn't surprise me if the majority of people in Gaza doesn't support them (or better I should say didn't support them) but Hamas is not the root of the problems Hamas didn't exist in first place. maybe you should check why it's even created. and there will be another Hamas even if this one completely gets destroyed. they went to Lebanon and massacred people in 1982 (or let them be massacred by their friends) and another group (far more dangerous) emerged. I can guess the same will happen in Gaza unless the ultimate solution happens (which is only the two states idea) like most places in the world, even in Palestine most people just want to live in peace and have a normal life, but they didn't have a normal life. this current situation can't stay forever. @thepharoah I seriously suggest you to use this ignore button , I used that on so many so-called users here and that makes your life much easier. that's the only way I could stay in this forum.
  13. UWW made some changes for the OQTs. no final, no repechage for continental OQTs ... not a bad idea, those matches were useless and most wrestlers had to make a funny excuse to withdraw but they didn't mention what if someone fails a drug test ? who will get the quota ? the most obvious answer is whoever lost to him in the SF https://uww.org/article/four-seeds-no-finals-uww-approves-new-format-2024-olympic-qualifiers
  14. rumors/reports say that Alexander Komarov (World U23 Champion 2021) will wrestle for Serbia from 2024. it didn't take long for Serbia to buy a "replacement" for Zurabi Datunashvili. apparently he is married to a Serbian girl so this one makes sense. I mean comparing to Arsalan, Datunashvili, Kajaia, Tibilov and Tsabolov , but who cares, he is good and will one of the contenders for the quota.
  15. Miracles don't happen twice, I wasn't expecting Alipour to win the gold/quota here, he had his run in Hangzhou instead a month ago. but he looked a bit out of shape here. he didn't slip in KO rounds but never got close to his AG records. if he wants to qualify next year he has to be faster than this. most of his opponents are from Asia though. He won everything possible in this sport, World title, World Games title, Asian title, Asian Games title (twice). I know he can't win the Olympics but I hope at least he qualifies. he deserves that for all of his hard work which he did mostly alone without a coach , etc.
  16. @phelps how many World Cups we have till the end of Olympic qualification (April 2024) ? speaking of men's Sabre, I see only two more World Cups scheduled, in Italy and Hungary. shouldn't be another one between Feb-Mar-Apr ? (maybe that was supposed to be in Poland and FIE is looking for a new host?)
  17. after the first half it looked like Brazil is going to win 6-0 or something. the first half was this one-sided I know U17 WC is not a big deal but that was a fun match. it's rare to see such a turnaround in a match
  18. Yes I think it will be reallocated based on the individual world ranking which means (if I'm not wrong) only 2 to 5 individual quotas will be available in the final individual qualifiers. minimum 2 and max 5.
  19. Great, 3 in the semifinals in total but 0 quotas. most probably nobody in Archery for the first time since 2004. this 2024 Olympics is just getting better and better.
  20. actually he is here facing one of our guys in QF in about 30 minutes he is listed as Dhiraj
  21. it's tough to have two in the semis and losing them both! Fallah just needed an 8 to win but ... and now she is crying while she is shooting for the 3rd place! never saw such a thing in this sport
  22. I'm watching this AFG/AUS match on a Afghan TV (and they are showing commercials after every single stop ) Cricket is probably the thing that everybody in Afghanistan likes, even those Taliban Neanderthals. I think they already made history by winning 4 matches but I hope they continue their dream run today and even advance to the SF. people in that country suffered (and still suffering) enough, they deserved a bit of happiness at least.
  23. I wish 😁 but im afraid not That will be reallocated to the final OQT
  24. I think there will be a separate ranking round as well. At least that was my understanding when i checked the schedule
  25. what if Australia wins the gold in Qatar ? will they take the Oceania quota ? or that will open the spot for NZ ? I mean which one comes first ? World quotas or Oceania quota ?
