  1. Rustam Djangabaev (6th in current ranking at +102kg) is tested positive for doping, his name had been removed from the World Cup start list, which means he is not going to Paris 2024 anyway that's his 2nd time, we won't see him for a while, maybe forever.
  2. You mean you can't see that in the ranking list ? I took a screenshot 20 minutes ago and I still can see the sign, but if you change the month to February (to see the previous month's ranking) that sign disappears, which means it's something new. that can be just a mistake though
  3. what does this supposed to mean ?
  4. Morea Baru lifted 281kg today in Group C of men's 61kg. there is nobody from Oceania or Africa competing in Group B or A tomorrow. which means he will 100% finish as the best athlete from these 2 continents. Asia and Europe have multiple athletes in top 10, America has just one, Morris from USA is currently #7 and I'm sure he will stay in top 10. so PNG lost a quota today by 1kg but they will qualify their first athlete for Paris tomorrow
  5. and the continental quota goes to Randafiarison , she beat the girl from PNG by just 1 kilo. Toua (PNG) lifted 171 yesterday in Group C (which was 1kg better than Randafiarison's previous record) but Randafiarison beat her once again by 172kg today in Group B
  6. not familiar with the names but I think they are Afghans, at least based on how their names are written , we usually transliterate it names differently. yeah I agree this refugee team is getting ugly. but at least they look like real refugees (which means amateur and weak athletes) unlike most of those participated in Euro qualifiers.
  7. World Cup start book https://iwf.sport/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2024/03/2024-IWF-World-Cup_Start-Book.pdf this is the last chance for everybody
  8. I think this is great that Germany can't qualify a single team. that's great for future generations, I mean 2040-2050 if IOC (or the World the way it is now) exists that long we are still paying the price of that 1976 team gold medal
  9. not interesting in this topic but World Aquatics is using the term AQUA instead of WA (which you are using in the title) just saying
  10. so this is it, a last minute takedown gave the last quota to Egypt by a 3-3 win here is the summary of qualified NOCs 57kg: 65kg: 74kg: 86kg: 97kg: 125kg:
  11. @thepharoah you won another quota in 97kg , by a 15-3 win or somethingl ike that but it could end up disastrously for El Ders, he got stuck on his own gut wrench and almost got pinned
  12. that was the most dramatic match of evening so far, 4-4 win and quota for Australia but I kind of feel sad for the Nigerian guy with that long surname, he surely has the natural talent , just doesn't know how to score. lack of international experience
  13. I'm sure all wrestling commentors will cheer for Australia in the next match, Onovwiomogbohwo is not someone you want to talk about
  14. your guy won it easily he is probably the best freestyle wrestler in Africa at the moment, his quota was almost guaranteed even before the competition
  15. 2nd quota for GBS , this time 74kg they had 3 FS wrestlers and won 2 quota. almost perfection it could be 3 though
  16. and quota for Samoa one mistake from GBS guy and his back is pinned to the mat. it was a close match before this action
  17. first quota for and that was quite easy Egypt took the other 57kg quota, only in this weight the top 2 seeds were indeed the top two wrestlers.
  18. @phelps what was wrong with your guys ? did they try to lose intentionally ? I mean it looked like they are not moving on purpose to take the hit. I know nobody cares about 5th-8th places anymore but still that was weird. or maybe they wanted to finish this ASAP to go watch the other piste between GER and KOR
  19. that was indeed very easy because that was a walkover
  20. quota matches in men's freestyle 57kg: vs / vs 65kg: vs / vs 74kg: vs / vs 86kg: vs / vs 97kg: vs / vs 125kg: vs / vs all 3 GBS wrestlers made it to the SF and I think all 3 of them have a good chance to win. really surprised by this Samoan wrestler, he beat Egypt 10-0!!
  21. UWW is just great they are having 3rd place match for 76kg (and yesterday they had it for two weights) because they have a different format when we have 6 or 7 wrestlers (two groups. crossover semifinals) but why it's different than other weights (no 3rd place match when we have 8 or more) ? I don't know but OK I understand they are having this in case someone withdraws or fails a drug test. but there is one very funny point here. based on their own rules. when less than 8 wrestlers register, the quota won't be reallocated to the next wrestlers, it will become a wild card. so what the hell is this 3rd place match about ?
  22. Guinea Bissau is strong favorite for 57 and 74kg quotas. beside that I don't think so
  23. she lost by fall the score doesn't matter
  24. yes. while she was "dominating" the match, she gave up lots of big throws and at the end lost by fall/pin in one of them. the score was 10-8 before the last action and she was attacking (and could score more than enough to win) with a better tactic she could end the match 10-0
  25. got pinned in a match she could dominate but she didn't
