  1. this guy knows magic or maybe something better he weighted 101.7 kg during the Asian Champ in his home country when he secured his quota. but how is the even possible ? he was never anywhere near that weight. but all of a sudden he dropped 7kg and made a good total and then gained that 7kg back ? if that's not magic, then what it is ? https://iwf.sport/weightlifting_/athletes-bios/?athlete=djuraev-akbar-1999-10-08&id=14360
  2. Last Chance World Qualifier entries https://arena.uww.org/weight-category/1eef6f73-073e-67fe-ad74-231b2e1b0fdb this list is probably only accurate for non-Asian countries but for the Asian NOCs it's mostly a cope/paste from their Asian Qualifier entries. for example I know Iran will send a different team if the AQT team fails.
  3. Because we have a f.. idiot as coach, they couldn't even calculate, Dehdar needed 213 but they went for 214 and he missed it by the narrowest possible margin. 1 kilo made a huge difference here and why the hell they started with 208 when they knew he needed 213? and Dehdar was supposed to be the CJ specialist. his plan was to lift 220 here but I think that was too much pressure for him to handle.
  4. 102kg Group B didn't go the way I preferred two more athletes surpassed the 391kg mark and that will kick our guy Dehdar out of top 10! now he needs to do something to qualify. kind of funny because at the start of this qualification period, he was our 3rd guy and nobody cared about him, now #1 and #2 are out and he is our last chance for the quota in this weight how the hell Hasanbayev (TKM) improved this much in a short period of time ? yeah I'm thinking about the same thing but TKM already has 3 doping bans (all of them less than 4 years of suspension) the rules are not clear in this case. it says the independent panel may withdraw some or all of the quota places not sure what "may withdraw" means the rules should be clear.
  5. speaking of Chamizo, that was one of his best matches at 74kg. he didn't wrestle a good match like this for a while. I mean he was down 6-0 ( to me that was 4pts but they gave 4+2) I was 100% sure the match is over but he wrestled his heart out and if the officiating was normal he could be leading by 3-4 pts before the last action (where he again got robbed) Chamizo in morning session was terrible but from what I saw in the evening I think he will win the quota eventually. he is quite a popular wrestler (because of his unique style) and I'm sure most (if not all) of wrestling fans want to see him in Paris. but this is a very competitive weight, lots of solid wrestlers are left. Salkazanov, Demirtas, Kirov also had a good tournament today. whoever GEO sends, Kuramagomedov, Shapiev, that Russian guy of Romania was good too and there will be some good Asian wrestlers left too. at least 2 or 3. beside that, Albania and Tajikistan are purchasing some good Russian wrestlers (Veliev and Rassadin) I think they are still doing the paperwork but that can be finished anytime, Uzbekistan also hired a very high level Russian in Zhamalov.
  6. no more surprises, the rest of the afternoon went as expected. looking back at my predictions, I was mostly wrong in Greco, only got 5 out of 12 correctly but that was expected, in freestyle it could be 10 out of 12. but that Chamizo match happened, so 9 of 12. I only missed one in 65kg and 97kg. Baitsaev was in terrible shape and I think my 65kg prediction wasn't that bad. it's not a good news that only 4 countries won all the quotas ! (and Europe was supposed to be more competitive) two teams are already completed. Russia and Azerbaijan. they both won all 6 MFS quotas. beside that only USA and Japan in women's freestyle have a full team now. (no full team in Greco yet) Belarus also had a great day, winning 4 quotas they could even win the 65kg too, but 86kg was too weak to be considered. beside that only Georgia has 3 and the rest of Europe have 2 or less. Turkey lost badly today but I think they will be prepared for the last event at home
  7. no surprise in 86kg either Naifonov winning the quota was a 100% sure thing, I almost fell sleep during the match but Mykhailov could do better against Nurmagomedov. but his wrong tactical plan cost him the quota. he grabbed the leg so many times in the last minute but it was too late. So ... Azerbaijan didn't win a single quota on Friday and Saturday but today was different, 4 of 4 so far and I think they will win the 5th too. which means they will have a full team in Paris, (97kg quota was already in the bag)
  8. Kadimagomedov won the battle of Russian mercenaries to win the 2nd quota. this guy is very dangerous even when he is not in a good shape like today. so far, so good for Azerbaijan and Belarus
  9. nope whatever Cicioglu (the guy who reviews the challenge) says is final
  10. that's robbery of the year someone got richer tonight
  11. wrestling can be weird sometimes, IMO Dzebisashvili was maybe the worst wrestler of that half bracket but he somehow managed to win matches, beating Arushanian by a last second takedown and then Sacultan 1-1 only by passivity cautions. interesting that while other Georgian wrestlers are losing , he won the quota as the worst member of the team and in the 2nd semifinal, Haji Aliyev had a heroic comeback in the 2nd period to beat the mercenary Russian of Albania I was expecting him to win the quota but he suffered a lot and could lose in the QF and in the SF too. but winning close matches is what you expect from an experienced wrestler like him.
  12. if I had to predict the entire bracket of 57kg, I could get a 100 out of 100 not even a minor surprise here and the quotas go to Rezazade (AZE) and the Russian mercenary of Belarus Tyutrin
  13. I wasn't paying attention watching something else today
  14. yeah that was stupid of him to try actions like this when he was leading comfortably. the match could end comfortably in the first period. regarding the last chance qualifier, when we talk about men's freestyle it's only about Europe and Asia (plus couple of American wrestlers at 57 and 65) I can have a better idea about the possible favorites after the Asian qualifier but I think 97kg and 125kg won't be that strong in Turkey. everything is possible with 3 quotas available there. you still have a chance in 3 heavier weights hopefully we won't have to send anybody there but I know that's wishful thinking
  15. hard to tell, none of them impressed me today, interestingly both of them relied on counter attacks to score points, so I expect a low scoring tactical match which will be in Chamizo's favor because he is smarter. I think Bayramov's strategy will determine the winner, let's see if he falls in Chamizo's trap or not. I think it's 51/49 for Chamizo
  16. ah , that's a shame , he was in too much pain after the match but I was hoping maybe he can recover for the evening session , it sucks big time to get injured in a match you won by superiority he looked very good, I would considered him the favorite vs Hushtyn Poland still has a chance at 125kg, I missed this guy in my review mostly because I was looking for the other Baran, but he beat Ligeti handily. Belarusian will be the favorite but only slightly IMO
  17. if Chamizo continues to wrestle like this, he is not going to win a quota today (or maybe he is saving energy ?) his counter attacks are still deadly but you can't count on that too much against better wrestlers. few more "favorites" like Zhabrailov or H. Aliyev struggled in their first matches. we might see some big names falling today
  18. you think it was a fall ? no I don't think so, one of her shoulders was always on the air. if the center ref sees something even close to a fall you will see him looking at the mat chairman (to get the confirmation), that didn't happen, the Czech girl made some mistakes in her adjustment and let her escape the fall. that was inevitable if Hanzlickova could just keep her position. or at least she could keep her for the entire 3 minutes and let the clock burn down. but I think it's easy to say from here, things are different when you are on the mat and your entire career's dream is on the line, you make mistakes.
  19. how that can happen ? I mean they almost kept their entire squad from last year. I know they faced some injuries (and other bad news) during the season but you can't fall this low in less than a year. that's just not possible
  20. sorry my friend but You are 100% wrong, the officiating in wrestling is not like that. 1) she was never even close to get a fall win 2) you can't challenge the fall/touche call. whatever the mat chairman (and not the center ref) says is final 3) passivity cautions are rare in freestyle, they do that only to break the deadlock, not when someone starts scoring. I mean the Polish girl would get a caution at the beginning of 2nd period (she was already warned at the end of 1st period) but then some actions happened , no need for a caution 4) and there is no extra point for holding someone on the ground! she got 2pts for exposure and that's it. it took almost a minute but that was just "one exposure" not even a slightest officiating mistake in that match, nothing even suspicious
  21. most users here don't know how to check the arena website instead of not-so-much-user-friendly uww website, I thought maybe you don't know too yes sure 50kg: 53kg: 57kg: 62kg: 68kg: 76kg:
  22. you can refresh this link in 20-30 minutes and have your answer https://arena.uww.org/session/show/1eedaad3-a113-6aa2-b90d-65c730caa373/print/complete-results
  23. it's late but if you still want a feed with English commentators https://vk.com/video/@uwwsng?z=video-127946903_456264790
  24. that was crazy, Karlos Nasar could easy break the total WR but he wanted to break everything tried 224 to break both CJ and total WR and missed it by the narrowest possible margin. he broke the snatch WR but the Colombian former doper Yeison Lopez broke it again one minute later. Nasar is easily capable of 400 or 405. if I was China I wouldn't pick this weight because even the silver medal is hard to win. but it's also funny if World #1 doesn't go to the Olympics. but that happens in women's weightlifting anyway
  25. 89kg quotas are already decided, all challengers (outside of top 10) bombed out already and next in line:
