  1. none ! 3 tournaments should be considered for the seeding, 2023 Worlds, 2024 Zagreb Open and 2024 Asian Championships. they could show the seeding right now (like they did with other continents) but that wasn't final since the Asian Champ will happen later, so this time they decided to not show the seeding until it's final.
  2. seeds belong to the wrestlers, not the country. only few wrestlers in each weight are going to both events but still they can change the seeding if they do good at the Asian Champs but most of them are weak and won't be able to do that. top countries send two different teams
  3. You can enter whoever you want, no restriction but it's hard to cross the name of an Olympic medalist off. I still would send him even though he was surprisingly terrible today
  4. Asian Qualifier Entry list https://arena.uww.org/weight-category/1eee8091-0dc1-62ce-aece-29d4b609d8de they didn't write the seeding this time, obviously because we will have the Asian Champs one weak earlier
  5. that was a very quick session, most of the matches finished in the first period quota matches in Greco-Roman 60kg: vs and vs 67kg: vs and vs 77kg: vs and vs 87kg: vs and vs 97kg: vs and vs 130kg: round robin, and 99.99% qualified
  6. I see lots of wrestlers registered for both Greco and FS competitions and some of them simply just withdrew ! they probably tried their chance to see if they get a super easy draw in Greco (and withdrew when they didn't) only 3 wrestlers are actually competing at 130kg (4 registered, 3 of them are in freestyle too, 1 withdrew) first surprise of the day and probably the biggest one. Mohammad El Sayed the only Olympic medalist in this competition just lost to Nasr, and it wasn't just an accident, the Tunisian guy really deserved it
  7. click on the same link I posted earlier . it's always like that for UWW events
  8. looking at the Greco brackets (tomorrow competitions) I expect Egypt to qualify a full team (they already have one) I can't see any of them in danger of losing the quota. but accident happens sometimes. TUN and ALG are next best countries in Greco but in some weights they are in the same half as Egypt. I think all 12 qualified wrestlers will be from these 3 countries. but I hope to see some surprises
  9. the list is updated now, Naifonov and the great Sadulaev is added for Russia (they won other 4 FS quotas already) Russians Komarov and Kurugliev are added too after "solving" their passport/eligibility problems lots of hot favorite are unseeded which means being seeded means almost nothing and luck/draw will play a big factor here. for example if you are in the same half as Sadulaev, you are already out. apparently he is healthy now and will run over these guys. or at 86, Naifonov and Kurugliev will win the quota unless they fall in the same half.
  10. with IOC politicizing sports, all teams should be allowed to play whoever they want. they can't play that card of "sports and politics are separated" anymore. does AFC 1 mean whoever wins the cup ? in this case Iraq (for example) simply won't win the cup. they settle for the silver even if they reach the final. both Japan and Korea were unimpressive during the qualifiers, Iraq and KSA too but I assume they will bring a better squad for the main tournament. Uzbekistan on the other hand had a good team, they completely dominated our super shitty U23 team and could win the match 5-0 or something (the match ended 1-0 and Iran still missed the cup because of having more yellow cards ) but we know Uzbeks always find a way to choke in important matches. so I won't bet on them while I still think they have the best current U23 team in Asia won't be cheering for Australia. they could beat Tajikistan by as many goal as they wanted but somehow (maybe intentionally) settled for a draw which resulted in eliminating us. (not really blaming them, the format sucks)
  11. both of our athletes won the quota quite easily sometimes you have to work really hard. travel around the world. participate in so many tournaments in 2-3 years to qualify but sometimes it can be very easy like today and yesterday. Taekwondo qualification system is really weird, it shouldn't be like this
  12. quota fights 58kg M: vs / vs +80kg M: vs / vs 57kg W: vs / vs +67kg W: vs / vs no quota for Afghanistan Mohsen Rezaee who was their best chance in all sports lost two close rounds to the Palestinian athlete (if I'm not wrong a former World Junior medalist) and Amiri at +80 lost a very close match to TPE.
  13. no I don't think so. they made it clear in the rules that the reallocation will happen with respect to that original rule so I assume that will go to the next available athlete. (from Brazil if he doesn't qualify himself directly in Pan-Am)
  14. because Ulugbek Rashitov was already qualified at 68kg. they had just one more male spot available
  15. Africa/Oceania qualifier entries https://arena.uww.org/weight-category/1eee288e-262c-6d64-a25c-3f0e9d4ebcc0 more wrestlers in freestyle. in Greco some weights have only 4 or 6 athletes
  16. there are something like 3 millions Afghans living in Iran (legally or illegally), so I guess that's the answer. most (if not all) of their Taekwondo athletes grew up here. my point is, he probably had both options. when he didn't make the Afghan team, he used the plan B.
  17. well. you can't be luckier than this Abbasi guy he even lost a round to Nepal. but managed to win some close matches and in the SF, he lost the 1st round and was trailing in the 2nd round too but then he landed a big big kick and the HKG guy probably didn't notice the count, therefore didn't say " I'm ready" to the ref and lost by RSC. I know some people here think this refugee idea is cool and nice but it's not. this guy Abbasi was representing Afghanistan until few months ago (I mean even years after the fall of Kabul, it's not like he fled the country when the savages of Taliban arrived) Afghanistan can send only 2 athletes here (like everybody else) they have two much better athletes in 58kg and +80kg. so this guy probably thought OK I can apply to be in "King Tommy team" and found a shortcut to the Olympics. if anybody with a refugee status can participate, then each country should be allowed to send so many as they want. I mean if you can't make the national team , you can always easily make the refugee team. you don't have to be a real refugee. King Tommy accepts everybody.
  18. that was even much worse, he was calling them V I E, I mean he was saying "Vee ai, ee" not even Vietnam Chinese commentators are usually this bad when they try to speak English. I had seen this before in other Taekwondo competitions in China.
  19. I was also surprised by that late penalty but I wasn't paying too much attention to that specific match. so I can't say for certain
  20. there is no results page (as far as I know) I just finished watching the quarterfinals
  21. quota fights M 68kg vs / vs M 80kg vs / vs W 49kg vs / vs W 67kg vs / vs Chinese Taipei losing to Hong Kong was the huge huge surprise today. which created a very good chance for the Afghan athlete (refugee now) to qualify. TPE also lost in the women's side. that KSA girl also has a very good chance to qualify, I assume that will be the first ever quota for a Saudi girl (not counting wild cards)
  22. that was expected actually. Rafalovich has a good rank mostly because of his old results, their 80kg guys (both Jaysunov and Salaev) had more success recently, Jaysunov was only few seconds away from qualifying through the Grand Slam. beside that 80kg will be much easier for then to earn the quota.
  23. Asian Championships Entry list https://arena.uww.org/weight-category/1eee02d6-2759-659e-9ff0-c71089015e53 the list is still incomplete. no UZB , no KGZ yet. but PRK is there which means they will participate at the AQT too. making things harder for everybody. India team is also very incomplete and from what I know wrong. (this is their AQT list, not the AChamps list) from what I see some countries are sending their B-level wrestlers because of the obvious reason. but those big names already qualified are mostly here.
  24. maybe, just maybe we are reading it wrongly. no way WT can do such a thing, that's like demolishing the Oceania qualifier. because I highly doubt we will see more than 3 competitors in any of those 8 events. maybe max 1 or 2 I think only when it comes to "reallocationg the quotas" they won't give it to the next guy if there are less than 4 competitors and that re-allocated quota will go to the World Ranking.
  25. The Mexican guy pinned Paalam to the ring by some wrestling techniques. he finished that bout on pain. I'm not surprised he didn't continue but that means that piece of crap TKM boxer (who beat our guy completely unfairly) is going to the QF without doing anything.
