  1. Thats great news 192 is close to medal at rio ...medal in rio will be around 194 I feel ....and she has improved a further 2 kgs since the asian qualifiers This is the first time since Karnams medal in sydney, that we have a world class female weightlifter , she can be added to any prospective medal list for India ... how much did satish lift ?.... I actually felt vikas may be the better option ....... but if satish came close / crossed 330 in total then he has some chance of being in the top 12 or so ?
  2. I think personally we seem to mixing up two things Indian Boxing - We have messed up big time as IABF - This is the news of Dec 2012 after which IABF was suspended The IABF amended its constitution ahead of its September election to create the chairman's post to accommodate Abhay Singh Chautala at the end of his 12-year reign as the federation president. That paved the way for his unopposed election as president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Wednesday, a day after the IOC banned the body for allowing government interference in its poll. Even though the AIBA suspension is a direct fallout of the Olympic ban, the Indian boxing federation's September election is now under investigation. "This provisional suspension is also due to the fact that AIBA had learned about possible manipulation of the recent IABF's election," the governing body of amateur boxing said in a statement. the sports ministry - News in 2012 Compounding the pressure, India's sports ministry also announced on Friday that it had suspended the IABF, effectively cutting off the sport's government funding. - there was no proper funding for the boxers This is vijender s comment after that in dec 2012 "The next AIBA event is quite far away but hopefully we would not sit on it for too long and get the suspension revoked as soon as possible." But our federation sat on it till last month .............................4 years ..this is the news item of 2016 four years later Hope for Indian boxing, elections to set up new body on May 8 what kind of international success do we expect when there is no association no govt funding etc.............. ( whether the scoring patterns are accurate etc is a different matter ............... ans of course they should changed) ...our boxers are doing badly not because of the scoring patterns or conspiracy theory but because we have had no assoc or funding ..... some boxers like shiva, vikas, sumit and manoj are funded by OGQ...so will do well but others are in bad state ......we will have a maximum of 2-3 quota places in boxing ...........
  3. India at the AIBA qualifiers 49 kgs - Devendro seeded 4th gets a bye to the round of 16 52 kgs - Gaurav Bindhuri fights antonia vargas of USA ( will be tough ) on 17th for the round of 64 56 kgs - no entry as shiva has qualified 60 kgs - dheeraj wins first bout against guatemalan boxer and enters round of 32 has extremely tough fight with delgado ( no 1 seed from mexico ) on the 18th afternoon 64 kgs - Manoj fights de la rosa of puerto rico on 17th afternoon and I expect him to win but if he does he faces second seed aly mohd of egypt in the round of 32 69 kgs mandeep jangra fights esp boxer for round of 64 .( today ) ..expect jangra to win 75 kgs - Vikas seeded 2nd - is given bye to reach round of 32 on 20th 81 sumit sangwan faces TTO boxer in round of 64 tomorrow exp him to win but if he wins he faces 8th seeded colombian on 19th - I still feel sumit can win but tough fight 91 Amritpreet singh faces KOS boxer in round of 32 and then is likely to face tough US boxer if he wins in the round of 16 91+ Satish kumar faces TGA boxer on 17th for round of 32 and if he makes it through as I expect faces tough IRL boxer in round of 16 Really tough ....it is enormous competition and India has no real bout experience due to bad NOC issues ...... I expect 2-3 boxers to make it through and that is on the high side ....best bets obviously Sumit , Vikas , Devendro , Satish .................. all are very experienced and hence can be tough ...mandeep has a better draw so has a chance One major issue for devendro and satish is that there is only 2 quotas for the 49 kgs and devendro has to reach final and satish has to win to qualify as there is only 1 quota for 91+ .....again very tough ....... I think there are more vacancies in the professional rankings / bouts only vikas is eligible ................... all round keep your expectations low for boxing qualification is my thought ......................
  4. India did very badly in mens recurve ........ round one 53/53 ................ poor scores by both countries ......1 point each round two 54/53 .................. India scores 54 but brazil scores 53 so india get two points ( india 3 and Brazil 1 ) round three 54/55 ................... Brazil outscores us and gets two points..... a very poor 7 by one of our archers ( the scoring is not clear who ) let us down ( India 3 and brazil 3 ) round four .............................India just 53 a very low score and brazil do just a little better 54 and we lost ( India 3 and Brazil 5 ) Real poor shooting all round by India - we had 5times 8's and 1time 7 vs brazil just 4 eights and no sevens ............................... Brazil did not do anything spectacular.............. India shot very badly
  5. Mangal , Rahul and Rimil were the only archers knocked out ...compound rounds happening - both men and women seem to be doing well in close matches though ... today we will see how Mangal does in the team recurve - He is the only weak link ...atanu and jayanta seem in good form as evidenced by their singles and Atanus mixed where he has reached the finals
  6. Also I think sreejesh is feeling the stress of being both the captain and goalkeeper , - it is a difficult combination ...also it is good that he is realising this weakness he has a month or so to practice and eliminate it But still Indias performance has been great ....... By the way India with 7 points plays against Aus with 10 points Belgium ( 4) Plays GBR with 5 points Possible scenerio India draws or wins against australia we are in the final If India loses and GBR and BEL draw - India is in the final If India Loses and GBR wins - GBR in the final , India plays for Bronze If India Loses and BEL win - India and BEL end up with same points .......... Goal difference BEL is -3 and India +1 , Is the position going to be determined by goal difference ? - Currently in the table Korea is placed ahead of Germany I am not clear why ???
  7. prasanth any live streaming link ?
  8. I feel that 120 means all the qualifications the way we want it to happen I do feel one or two may not and we may end up around 114-117 with one or two drops ...But I do hope you are right and I am wrong as I would love to see India cross 120 ..................... It would be tremendous achievement
  9. To be honest 4 from boxing looks too difficult
  10. and of course you could not find them
  11. yes I think we have a good chance to cross 110 but 120 seems impossible to me as of now
  12. I think it is starting on 16th ?
  13. @Sanjib If more than 3 atheletes reach the A qualification - then the NOC can select the best Unfortunately in womens marathon we have only 4 women who have reached A qualification standard - besides Kavita and Lalitha Orchatteri P. Jaisha 2:34:43 Beijing (CHN) 30.08.2015 Kavita Tungar-Raut 2:38:38 Guwahati (IND) 12.02.2016 so if sudha and lalitha do not participate ...India can nominate Jaisha and Kavita ( which I am sure they will do and if any other women reaches that standard before July 11th then that women ( but currently there does not seem to be anyone close )
  14. why I did not put them I feel Mayookha was injured in the fed cup and she may not recover in time to reach the A standard ... arpinder has not shown any improvement in the last 2 years and has been at a lower level , Renjith is a possibility but I feel he may have less chance to reach the given the standard of 16.85...... his best has been around 16.4 this year so has a huge ground to cover OP Jaisha / sini has to improve a really big amount to qualify within 2:01:50 , doing 2.05 is pretty average , for example lili das as a junior did it arokhya rajiv and anilda and poovama could have done it but they and the coaches are all focussing on the 4*400 which I think is a good option as they can with some improvement and some luck be in the final in that event while in the individual they will never be able to even come close to the semis I have no clue what suriya is doing and as she seems to be not in the race at all Neeraj seems to have lost all confidence and his scores are coming down unless there is a surprise improvement I have lost confidence in him as of now 50 km walk I think Basant Rana and jitender singh and Chandan singh have a chance but again there is no improvement in their last performance and the jaipur track where they did well is I feel not a very standard track ( had a few downhill segments ) so their time could be over estimated , also 50km event is not common so I do not know how many events they have left till July 11th But I will add long shot chances are Neeraj ( if he regains confidence ) , Mayookha ( if she regains from injury ) , Renjith , srabani and basant / jitender with also 4*100 meter women who I feel can go much faster but they need to get their act together and they need to do a sub 44 ( twice ) which is why it is unlikely.
  15. LIST OF MOST LIKELY QUOTA PLACES IN ATHLETICS FOR RIO In athletics we have reached 19 quota places ......... we have less than a month more ....................can we cross 24 quota places to make it an all time record for india in terms of quota places ( we achieved 24 in 2000 Sydney ) .... who do you feel will cross the magical A qualification level . In my view the following should do it 1. Womens 4*400 meter team ( 5 quota places ) - They are currently 13th in the world - top 16 qualify , it is possible that 2-3 countries may cross India but Indian team is also going to keep improving I feel as they just had one international event ( this season ) in which they did well and came first ..........................with competition they would do even better 2. Krishna Poonia ( Discus W ) - She is a world class athlete - she had retired but has come back , she recently posted a 59.3 .........with a personal best of 64 plus , i think she will achieve the 61 mark 3. Sidhanth thilangaya ( 110 m h ) - he has broken the national record twice , in a wind assisted meet he crossed the qualification mark . His season best is 13.54 just 0.07 seconds , I saw the wind assisted race where he broke the quota level ...he had tripped over the second last hurdle - I think he will achieve the mark 4. Duttee chand - she has not been action for the last month , I am not clear why but she has the ability to hit the mark recently her national record at the fed games was just 0.01 behind the quota mark 11.32 5. Mens 4*400 ( 5 quota Places ) - They shattered the NR recently , the mark they made , if they achieve just the same level they will be at 12-13th level in the world and qualify . I feel they will not only reach this , they will also beat it and make it to the olympics
  16. This year we have had a mega bag of NR in athletics in the last 3 months alone ELEVEN by my count - showing that our atheletes are rapidly improving 3000m Steeple ( W) - 2 records 100mh ( M ) - 2 records 100 ( M ) - 1 record 100( W ) - 1 record 400( M ) - 1 record Javlein ( M ) - 1 record 4*100 ( W ) - 1 record 4*400 ( M ) - 1 record 20Km ( M ) - 1 record
  17. Two good athletic performances National record - A month after breaking his own National record, Mumbai sprint hurdler Siddhanth Thingalaya bettered it again at the Grand Canyon State Games in Arizona, United States, on Sunday. The ONGC star clocked 13.54s to win the men’s 110m hurdles, eclipsing the 13.59s which he had run at Clermont, Florida, on May 14. Siddhanth, who is chasing the Rio Olympics qualification standard of 13.47s, missed by just .07 seconds Seasons Best - 2010 Commonwealth Games discus throw champion Krishna Poonia produced her season-best 59.39m at the Claremont Field of Dreams invitational meet in California on Sunday, according to coach and husband Virendar Poonia. Five of her six throws were above 58m with her best coming on her last attempt and taking her close to the Rio Olympics entry standard of 61m.
  18. Futsal is the secret of brazils soccer success and with the small court size .....I think this is a great game for India too.................
  19. I personally based on the break score pattern as well as Mangal Champia recent record feel it is better choice
  20. But why don't they wait till the end of the official tournament if it is at all possible ................. and see who shoots better in the team and individual
  21. Are you sure as the official world archery entry lists are showing rahul not mangal ...Can they change the list - I think they can ? I checked the score swings Rahul had a break score of ............... 329/327 Mangal had a break score of ..............320/331 which means that Mangal scored very well in the second part compared to the first part while rahul was more even ........ so it makes sense to go with Mangal ( also mangal had a shocker 5 somewhere in the first part not clear why )
  22. Rahul is long term member and would do his very best I am sure ........Mangal won an individual quota ( not based on Federation ) but once a country wins a team quota ( the federation can select any 3 people as the team quota supersedes individual quota .so they will have a final trial I am sure ....................... but the third member score is very much weaker than the other two a Atanu 681 jayanta 671 but Rahul 656 which is very weak - I hope he can buck up ....if you see his pattern of play I was a little concerned as he seems to play one round rreally well and then follow it up with 8s in the next round he needs more focus, as this can be the difference in a close fought match
  23. also you can see the overwhelming superiority of korea here 2050 points by the mens team compared to the next USA 2027 ........
  24. The draw seems to be favorable ...except that we are meeting the host ( so obviously home advantage ) but overall TUR are not at all strong in mens recurve........................... besides that the only strong side we have in our half is Russia ( who we would meet only in the semis if it goes by the seeding ) ..... In the other half are most of the tough countries like Mexico , GBR , Japan , France , Kaz , GER ...................................
