Despite last night's 100m performance in the US being wind assisted I think Rhasidat Adeleke of is now a serious threat for a medal at either 200m or 400m

Can I applaud you for not pointing out the obvious flaw in the previous poster's attempt to spread yet more misery and misinformation to the group. The "vertical jumps" that they seem to think will be bereft of British participation are actually in pretty rude health given that's the pole vault and high jump.
To be honest, I think I didn't read it properly

Oh No
Does this mean possibly no jumpers? In any of the four vertical jump. Surely we can’t have only KJT in Hepthalon the only one doing any?
There's a couple of female long jumpers who don't need a lot of improvement to qualify but it depends on their fitness of course.
Jacob Fincham-Dukes in the men's event has already jumped 8.02 this year. The Q is 8.27.
Let's not talk about triple jump...

To those of us of a certain vintage, British gymnast (or Irish for that matter) was an oxymoron on the level of a Samoan luger. Sure, it was technically possible, but they weren't gonna win much. Neil Thomas was legendary for his seemingly lone bid to make British gymnastics actually mean something, until the arrival of Beth Tweddle, who probably ought to have ben the first Olympic gold. But for Max to be sitting on 3 Olympic golds, 6 medals including an AA medal, and be in the conversation for the greatest pommel worker of all time...
He will be missed.
In 1996 no British gymnast finished in the top 50 in any Olympic event.

Nonsense as in wrongly reported news or nonsense as in China’s defence?
As in it being far too early to report a disqualification.

The German TV station ARD, who researched the story and who are showing a documentary about it on Sunday, describe the story about the Chinese relay team being stripped of their gold medal as "Nonsense"

Russia is out of the picture now, so it was about time the moved to China as the next target. I am surprised it was NewsCorp and not NBC leading the charge.
Yes, we haven't had a good Chinese swimming doping story since the team were caught smuggling growth hormone into Australia at the 1998 World Championships.

Just talked to a contact at ARD. They say it's probable the two stories are somehow connected but also say that the story about the Chinese relay team being stripped of gold is nonsense. Somebody added 2 and 2 together and got 22 as an answer to the sum.

For those that aren’t following road cycling day-to-day, are having a great week after a few quiet ones.
Sunday - Tom Pidcock wins the Amstel Gold
Wednesday - Simon Williams wins the Fleche Wallonne

Gracenote predictions are usually good but they do have some weaknesses.
They underestimate good performances by sportspeople breaking through to top level competition at a young age and, where certain parts of the world have a big advantage over other continents, they rely too much on older global results over newer continental results

Joining them on the squad are Olympic qualified Rosie Eccles F66Kg and Cindy Ngamba W75Kg
Sorry that makes it sound like Ngamba is on the Team GB squad?
Is that a typo?

It does make it easier and better to view for non-regular viewers if the differences in the categories are only limited to the number of athletes in the boat and the oars (or however it's called) they're using, and something less visible like weight isn't really a thing anymore. Lightweight classes have often felt a bit like a category for rowers who are too small, like if there's a special volleyball competition for people under 1.65m
Speaking as someone who is 1.64m tall I'm in favour of that rule

OK. Something odd seems to be going on. Somebody sent me a message that World Taekwondo are showing Jade Jones as being "suspended" in the Olympic Rankings. No one knows anything about this. Is this a big story or a mistake from WT?

Outside chances of medals in both medals in men's and women's events but there are other countries who are better prepared/
